Chapter 135 First Aid!
Chiara looked at all their gifts and could not help but smile and shake her head.
She took a quick pic and sent it off to Eunice and Queenie.
Queenie was quick to reply, [Whoa, you’re so rich now! Adopt me, please!]
Eunice also texted back, [Wait, what’s all this about?]
Chiara replied, [I dropped by the Goodman manor today. My in-laws and my grandma loaded me up with all this.]
Eunice quickly replied teasingly over text, [At this rate, anyone can tell that you’re the heiress of the Goodman Group. If you have a few more kids, you’ll be swimming in cash!]
Chiara replied, [Kids or not, I’m already a rich woman.]
Very quickly, another reply from Eunice came in, [Dang, you’re on a roll lately! My brother said the Lynch Group just scored two major deals. They were super tough ones to score, too. Looks like Kason really knows his stuff. Lynch Group’s stock jumped at least three points!]
Chiara curled her lips into a smile. She really was in a great mood.
Chiara couldn’t resist opening Titus’s chat and sent him a video call request.
But after a moment, he declined the call.
Instantly, a text from Titus came in, [Hey, I’m in a meeting. I’ll call you back later.]
Chiara couldn’t help but smile as she replied, [No worries, it’s nothing urgent. Just wanted to ask if you’ve finished up over there. When are you coming home?]
Titus teased, [What’s this, missing me already?]
Chiara read his playful message, gently placing her hand on her belly, just wishing their little one could meet his dad soon.
Chiara replied, [Yeah, I miss you.]
Reading her simple reply, Titus’s gaze softened, a hint of emotion flickering in his eyes. He sent back just four words that read, [I’ll be home soon.]
Chiara saw his reply and didn’t text back. Instead, she turned on some soothing prenatal music.
Titus set his phone aside and looked over at Elaine, who was watching him intently from her hospital bed.
“Titus, were you texting Chiara?” Elaine asked.
Titus met her gaze, not bothering to hide anything. “Yeah.”
Elaine gripped the sheets tightly. “Is that it? You’ve fallen for her?”
His eyes darkened, but his face stayed unreadable.
“Yes, I love her,” Titus replied, his tone unwavering.
Elaine’s expression turned sour for a split second, but she held it together, managing a faint, bitter smile. Instead of her usual confrontational style, she asked quietly, “And my sister? Have you forgotten about her already?”
When Elaine mentioned her sister again, Titus finally spoke up, “No, I won’t forget her. She’s part of my past, but now I have someone I truly love. She’ll always have a place in my heart, just as a memory.”
Elaine let out a mocking laugh. “Easy for you to say, but in the end, you’re just moving on and leaving her behind, aren’t you?”
Titus’s expression was impassive, his gaze cool and unfathomable/
“Is that what you want? For me to spend my whole life feeling guilty?” he asked.
Elaine’s eyes flickered. “That’s not what I meant…”
“Yes, it is,” Titus said, getting up from the couch and walking over to the bed, towering over her, his words deliberate and clear.
“What you truly want is to be the only one by my side, isn’t that right?” Titus accused.
Even after he laid her feelings bare, Elaine didn’t get upset. She just looked up at him.
“Why can’t it be me? I just don’t understand. Why can’t it ever be me?” Elaine asked, her voice trembling.
“Because you’re Elaine, Titus replied, his voice cold and distant. “It could be anyone, but it would never be you. Stop wasting all your time and effort. This is the last time I’ll say it. Your body is yours. Whether you want to get better is up to you. That’s all I can do.”

Elaine’s face turned deathly pale at his words. “So you’re excluding me just because I’m her sister?” she whispered.
“From the very start, I’ve only ever seen you as her sister. My feelings for you have never crossed that line. You’re the one who tried to change what we are. If you can’t let go, Elaine, then this is where we have to end things,” Titus said, his voice cold and final.
Elaine’s breath quickened, her eyes wide with disbelief as she stared at him.
She looked at the man who had always given in to her, now pushing her away again and again, repeatedly telling her to let
“Just focus on getting better,” Titus said, his tone firm.
Elaine’s eyes hardened. “You’re going back to her now, aren’t you?”
Titus looked at her deeply, his gaze lingering for a moment. “Yes, I am going home.”
This time, Elaine didn’t call out to stop him. She just stared at his back as he walked away, her eyes locked onto his departing figure, unwilling to look away.
Sharon stood quietly to the side, barely daring to breathe, her eyes flickering with unease. When she saw the cold, ruthless look on Elaine’s face, her heart skipped a beat. She quickly lowered her gaze, hiding her emotions.
The next day, Adele personally arranged for a driver to handle Chiara’s commute to and from work.
Chiara gladly accepted the thoughtful gesture and went to work as usual.
During her lunch break, Chiara swung by the hospital.
“Grandpa, I came to see you,” Chiara said.
Marcus’s eyes lit up. “Chiara, what brings you here at lunchtime?”
Chiara set the fruit down, walked over, and helped him sit up in bed.
“I missed you, so I thought I’d drop by. Plus, I’ve got some good news to share,” she added with a smile.
Marcus beamed at her. “What’s the good news? Is it about the company? Heather already filled me in.”
Chiara shook her head. “Nope, it’s about me.”
“About you?” Marcus echoed.
Chiara smiled. “Grandpa, you’re about to be a great-grandpa.”
Marcus was stunned for a second, then you could practically see the excitement and joy light up his face.
“Really?” he said, eyes wide with surprise.
The monitors started beeping like crazy, making Chiara jump. She rushed to calm him down. “Grandpa, take it easy!”
“Oh wow, this is amazing news! I’m really going to be a great-grandpa! Hahaha…” Marcus burst out laughing, absolutely thrilled.
Seeing her grandpa so overjoyed, Chiara couldn’t help but smile too. “Just don’t get too excited, okay?”
“Okay, okay, I’ll calm down,” Marcus promised, still grinning from ear to ear.

Chiara glanced at her phone to check the time, left it on the cabinet, then grabbed the fruit basket nearby and said, ” Grandpa, I’ll go wash some fruit for you.”
Marcus chuckled, “Okay, okay.”
When Chiara came out with the washed fruit, she bumped into Yves
“Hey, Chiara, here to see Grandpa?” Yves greeted her.
Chiara smiled and nodded. “Yeah, just dropping by to see him. Want some fruit?”
