Chapter 151
Chapter 151
Paul hung up the phone and glanced at Titus in the back seat. “Mr. Goodman, it’s all taken care of.”
Titus didn’t open his eyes. He just leaned back in his seat, resting with his eyes closed. “Take me back to the Goodman manor.”
“Yes, sir,” Paul replied.
Paul thought back to the sudden announcement from Lynch Group a few hours earlier.
It had put them on the back foot, with the PR department getting flooded with calls from the media, all trying to get the
scoop.
But they just kept saying they had no idea and hadn’t heard anything.
Regardless of whether Lynch Group had released a divorce statement, Goodman Group stayed completely silent.
That only fueled more speculation and gossip.
“Mr. Young and Mr. Clark called. Do you want me to call them back, Mr. Goodman?” Paúl asked.
No answer, Titus clearly wasn’t interested. Paul could tell he was in a bad mood, so he just stayed silent.
“We’ve arrived, sir,” Paul said.
Titus opened his eyes and stepped out of the car. Paul was about to get out too, but Titus’s low voice stopped him. “Wait for me in the car.”
“Okay, Mr. Goodman,” Paul replied.
When Titus walked in, Charlie and Adele both looked up at him. They’d seen the statement from Lynch Group and, for once, had been busy answering calls all day.
Charlie’s face darkened with anger. “You’ve got some nerve coming back here. What do
you
want?”
Titus gave them a dark look, his eyes cold. “Where’s Grandma?”
Adele set her book down and asked, “You still haven’t given up?”
Titus gave a bitter smile. “Yeah, I’ve given up. But there are still some things I need to say. Where’s Grandma?”
Debby was waiting on the landing, watching him below. “Come up here
Titus met her gaze upstairs, then made his way up the steps. There was a stairlift installed beside the stairs, just for Debby.
After a quick glance at Titus, Debby headed for her late husband’s study.
Without a word, the two of them entered the study. Only after Debby sat down did she turn her attention to Titus.
“So, what is it you want to say?” Her tone was firm.
Titus’s eyes were shadowed as he looked at Debby, then he went down on his knees before her.
Debby stared at him, completely unmoved. “You can do all you want, but I won’t tell you where she is. Titus, did your grandfather ever teach you that when you do something wrong, you have to pay the price?”
Titus kept his gaze lowered, his voice hoarse. “I know. I won’t go looking for her again, not even secretly.”

Chapter 151
Debby arched her brow, clearly not convinced.
Titus gave a bitter smile. “You’re right. I’m too ashamed to face her, and honestly, I wouldn’t even know what to say. Even if I did find her, what would it change? Ask her to forgive me? I know she never will
Debby frowned, then slowly closed her eyes, hoping that not seeing would bring peace to her heart. That’s good enough”
Titus looked up at Debby, scooted a little closer, and gently took her hand. “But there are things I need to say to her. I have to. Could you please tell her for me? I promise I won’t try to see her.”
Debby opened her eyes, her gaze full of complicated emotions as she looked at him. ‘Even if I pass your words along, do you really think she’ll listen?”
Titus’s face turned slightly pale, his jaw clenched so tight it looked painful. His usually pink lips were drained of color, and the veins on the back of his hands stood out starkly.
It was not that Debby didn’t feel for him, but every time she thought about what he’d done, even if he hadn’t meant it, the hurt and the consequences were irreversible.
She and Marcus had been classmates once, a bond forged from their school days.
Guilt gnawed at her heart. She was honestly afraid that when her time comes, she wouldn’t have the courage to face her old friend.
Debby reached out and gently patted his head, letting out a long sigh. “Titus, you know what she wants most right now. So. are you willing to let her go and set her free?”
Titus thought back to the divorce papers Heather had sent him, with a note that said just one thing.
She’d written that she’d prepared ten copies, and she’d keep sending them until he was willing to sign.
Titus buried his head in Debby’s lap, his voice barely above a whisper. “Grandma…”
Debby gently stroked his hair. “Titus, you and Chiara’s fate is over. Stop torturing each other. Just let her go.”
Titus stayed silent for a long time. When Debby felt something warm and wet on her knee, she looked down, stunned. “You…”
Debby was overwhelmed. She closed her eyes, then just shook her head in resignation.
She knew Chiara’s mind was set. There was no going back. Yet looking at her grandson, she felt torn.
“It’s fate, Titus. You and Chiara were destined to cross paths, but never meant to stay together,” Debby said softly.
After a long silence, Titus gave a wry, bitter laugh. “Grandma, I’ll sign.”
Downstairs, Charlie and Adele kept glancing up toward the second floor, unable to stop themselves from wondering what was happening up there.
“What do you think Mom and Titus are talking about?” Charlie asked,
Adele shook her head. “I can’t guess.”
After about half an hour, Titus finally came downstairs. His face was blank, but his eyes were clearly red-rimmed.
Charlie and Adele thought they must be mistaken at first, but as Titus walked closer, they exchanged a look of surprise.
‘Was he crying?’ Charlie wondered, stunned. Adele was just as shocked.

Chapter 151
Charlie couldn’t even remember the last time his son cried. ‘Was it when he was six? Or maybe seven?’
It was so long ago, he really couldn’t remember.
Adele was clearly moved too. She got up and walked over to him. “What did your grandma say?”
Titus looked at his mother’s worried face, but he couldn’t bring himself to smile or say anything to comfort her.

His right hand was still shaking. No one could ever know what was going through his heart when he finally signed the divorce papers.
It felt like his heart had been ripped in two.
The pain was gut-wrenching. He wondered if she was hurting this much too and that was why she finally gave up on him.
