Chapter 152
Chapter 152
Paul saw Titus come out and quickly stubbed out his cigarette. “Mr. Goodman?”
Titus shot him a cold look. “Go home.”
Paul froze at the word “home,” and when he glanced at Titus again, his eyes widened in surprise. “Sir, your eyes.”
He swallowed hard. ‘Was he crying just now? Just thinking about it was shocking!
Back at the villa, Titus brushed off Lindsay’s questions and headed straight into his bedroom.
Lindsay stared at the tightly shut door, worried sick. She’d seen the news too today, but had no clue what was really happening.
She stomped her foot in frustration and hurried downstairs. Spotting Paul about to leave the yard, she quickly called out to him. “Hold on a second!”
Paul glanced at Lindsay, then got out of the car. “Is something wrong?”
“What’s going on with Mr. Goodman and his wife? Why are they talking about divorce again? Where did Chiara go? Is it true about her grandfather…” Lindsay blurted out.
Paul glanced up at the light shining from the second floor and nodded. “Lindsay, please, just stop asking.”
She was taken aback, her mouth hanging open for a moment before she finally managed to ask, “Will she ever come back?”
Paul shook his head and let out a long sigh. “I’m afraid she won’t be coming back. I need to ask you for a favor.”
Lindsay was still in a daze, but she nodded. “Go ahead.”
“From now on, please try not to mention Chiara in front of Mr. Goodman,” Paul said.
“But…” Lindsay frowned, her voice full of worry. “But she’s pregnant.”
Paul shook his head. “She lost the baby. So please, never bring up the baby in front of Mr. Goodman, okay?”
She was completely stunned. “How could this happen? How did things end up like this all of a sudden?”
“That’s all you need to know, Lindsay. I’m heading out,” Paul said.
Lindsay was still confused, but she could only nod. ‘I’m just here to do my job and earn a living. It’s not my place to know all these things.
“Alright, drive safe.” She watched the car drive away, then turned and looked up at the second floor, finally letting out a long sigh.
“It’s such a shame… What a waste,” Lindsay sighed to herself.
Upstairs in the bedroom, Titus sat on the sofa, his eyes fixed on the new wedding photo above the bed, lost in thought.
Everything in the room was just as he’d left it. He could still catch a faint trace of Chiara’s scent lingering in the air.
Her books, her laptop, her skincare products, and all her clothes were still there.
It was as if nothing had ever happened, as if it was all just an illusion.
Titus’s shirt was wrinkled from how tightly he’d been clutching it. He stared at their wedding photo, his eyes full of emotion,

until everything faded, leaving only a cold, empty silence inside,
He reached for the pack of cigarettes on the coffee table, about to light one, when a woman’s gentle, slightly complaining voice echoed in his mind. “Smoking in the room again? Put it out!”

Titus froze and turned his head. For a moment, he could almost see Chiara standing at the bathroom door in her bathrobe, towel in hand, her eyes full of reproach and annoyance as she looked at him.
His throat tightened, and almost on instinct, he stubbed out the cigarette. He rose from the sofa and walked toward her.
“Honey, you’re back…” Titus whispered.
Chiara gazed at him in silence, her eyes soft, a gentle smile blooming on her lips. “You’re home, honey?”
Titus’s smile widened as he hurried over, desperate to pull her into his arms and never let go. “My love… Chiara.”
But just as he was about to hug her tight, she vanished right before his eyes.
“Chiara?” Titus called out, his voice cracking with desperation.
He spun around, frowning as he searched the room for any sign of her, even rushed to check the bathroom.
But the bathroom was completely untouched, like no one had ever set foot in there.
Titus turned pale as a sheet. He gripped the doorknob so tight his veins popped.
He stood there, frozen, his whole body stiff. He closed his eyes, let his hand drop weakly, then slowly raised it again, gazing blankly ahead, lost in thought.-
Just moments ago, he’d signed the divorce papers himself.
Titus’s eyes were dark and bottomless, like he was on the verge of breaking down, but he just shut his
eyes
instead.
The very next second, he smashed his fist into the bathroom’s glass door.
It shattered, and Titus stood there, his face ghostly pale and totally blank. Blood streamed from his hand, but it was like he couldn’t even feel it.

“Chiara, Debby said everything’s all set over there. We don’t need to bring much with us,” Ana said.
Chiara sat on the blanket by the floor-to-ceiling window, her expression calm and peaceful as she gazed out at the view.
She’d already seen the Lynch Group’s announcement.
Chiara hugged her arms, pressed her face against them, and said softly, “Mrs. Walker, now that we’re leaving together, 1 really don’t know when we’ll be back.”
Ana just smiled, “I’ve never married or had kids. Wherever I go, that’s home.”
Chiara turned to her with a gentle smile. “I want to leave tomorrow.”
“Alright, we’ll leave tomorrow.” Ana nodded.
Then, she added, “Debby just sent me a voice message. She said it’s from Titus, and that he’s already signed the divorce papers. He just wants you to listen to it. Chiara, do you want to hear it?”
Debby said if Chiara didn’t want to listen, she shouldn’t push herself and should just delete it.

“He signed it?” Chiara’s eyes narrowed.
Ana nodded. “That’s what Debby said.”
Chiara just sat there, lost in thought, not saying a word.
Ana waited quietly for a bit, and when Chiara still didn’t respond, she started to head out.
“Where’s the recording?” Chiara asked.
Jauchera
Ana heard her and walked over with her phone. She hadn’t listened to it herself, so after handing the phone to Chiara, she got up and left the room.
Chiara held the phone, staring at the audio message for a long time before finally tapping to play it.
The next second, Titus’s deep voice came through the phone. “I’m sorry. I broke my promise. I know you won’t forgive me, but I still hope you’ll hear me out.
“Two days ago, I got a call from Eldravia. They said Elaine fell off the stage and hurt her leg, she’ll never be able to dance again.
“She refused treatment, and I just couldn’t watch her give up on herself, so I went to see her. But I promise, there was never anything between us.
“I know you probably don’t believe me, so I want to explain my relationship with Elaine. Please, just hear me out.
“A few years ago, when I was studying abroad, I met a girl named Serenity Jensen. She was Elaine’s twin sister. We were together for a while.”
At that, Chiara’s expression finally shifted, her eyes flickering with surprise. ‘Serenity Jensen? Elaine’s sister?’
Titus continued, “But a few years back, she and her parents got into a car accident on their way to see me. All three of them died. Elaine was the only one spared because she was still in class.
“I promised Serenity I’d take care of Elaine, that was the last thing she ever asked of me, and I never wanted to let her down.
“Chiara, there’s nothing between me and Elaine. No past, no future. She’s just Serenity’s little sister. I’ve always seen her as family, like a kid I should look out for.”
