When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 153

Chapter 153

Chapter 153

Titus continued, “I won’t deny that after we got married, I neglected you a lot. In the beginning, I really did put her first.

“But Chiara, please believe me. I only feel responsible for her, nothing more.

“I’m really sorry, I didn’t know you were pregnant. If I had, I would’ve handled things differently. I also didn’t know about those photos, I’m sorry Grandpa saw them and was hurt. Whatever happened, I take full responsibility.”

“I’m so sorry about the baby. Please believe me, I regret it more than anything. I know you’re hurting, and I am too.

“I’m sorry I broke my promise. But please trust me one last time. She sent those photos without my permission, that was the final break. I owe her nothing now. From here on, her life has nothing to do with me.

“I know you don’t want to see me. It’s okay, you don’t have to. If you want a divorce, I get it.”

His voice faltered for a moment. Chiara’s gaze wavered as she stared quietly at her phone.

“If you want a divorce, I’ll go through with it. Chiara, I’ll do it. Just call me back, let me hear your voice… even if it’s just this once, please?

“Chiara, please… I’m begging you, just call me back. I just want to hear your voice, even if it’s only for a moment.”

The recording ended there. It was almost twenty minutes long.

Titus spoke slowly and clearly, as if he was worried she might miss a word, his tone careful and measured.

Chiara slowly put down her phone and turned to look out the window, her eyes growing red with unshed tears.

Finally, she closed her eyes, and a tear slid down her cheek.

Half an hour later, Ana came in. She walked over, crouched down, and gently patted Chiara’s shoulder. “Chiara?”

Chiara opened her eyes, took a deep breath, and shook her head gently. “I’m fine, Mrs. Walker. You should get some rest tonight. We’re heading out tomorrow.”

Ana glanced at her phone and sighed quietly. “Alright, you get some rest too. If you need anything, just let me know.”

Chiara nodded softly.

After Ana left the room, she glanced at her phone and gave Debby a call. “It’s Ana. Chiara listened to the recording.

“She’s pretty steady, just… looks like she cried a bit.

“I know. Don’t worry, I’ll look after her and your precious great-grandson. Okay then, talk to you soon.”

The next day, Lindsay had breakfast ready, but nobody came down from upstairs. She was still waiting when Paul came by to check in.

“Where’s Mr. Goodman?” Paul asked.

Lindsay shook her head. “He still hasn’t come down. I don’t know if something’s up. I was just thinking about going up to see what’s going on.”

“What could even happen to Mr. Goodman?” Paul started, but cut himself off. Given how things were right now, no one knew, really.

Paul’s face fell, and he quickly got up and headed straight upstairs. Lindsay stood there for a second, then rushed after him.

Chapter 153

Paul banged on the door. “Mr. Goodman? Sir, are you in there? Mr. Goodman?”

After knocking a few times and getting nothing. Paul turned to Lindsay, looking concerned. “Are you sure he’s still in there?”

Lindsay nodded. “No one left the room last night, I’m sure he’s still inside.”

“Then why isn’t he answering? Could something have happened?” Paul muttered, sounding anxious.

His face grew tense. “Lindsay, do you have a spare key?”

“Yeah, I’ll go get it.” Lindsay was just about to head to the study for the spare key when the door opened from inside.

Titus was still in the same clothes he’d worn last night. He stood there with a blank face, his voice rough and raspy. “Why are you making such a racket?”

Paul breathed a sigh of relief as soon as he saw Titus. “Are you okay, Mr. Goodman?”

Paul looked him over from head to toe, and when his eyes landed on the wound on Titus’s right hand, they went wide in shock. “Your hand…”

Titus shot him a cold look, and Paul immediately shut up.

“Wait, your hand is injured?” Lindsay gasped.

Titus turned and walked back into the room, just saying flatly, “Get someone to take care of this.”

Paul and Lindsay exchanged a look, then leaned in to get a better look inside.

What they saw made their jaws drop; the bathroom’s glass door was smashed to pieces.

Both of them sucked in a sharp breath.

Titus came out of the room with a clean set of clothes, and with both of them watching, he headed straight into the guest room next door.

Paul finally stepped inside, and the moment he saw the mess, his face twisted into a frown. “What the…”

Paul sighed and glanced at Lindsay, who looked totally shell-shocked.

“Get someone to clean this up and put in a new door,” he said.

All Lindsay could do was nod. “Alright.”

Ten minutes later, Titus came out, dressed and ready to go.

Lindsay saw them about to leave and couldn’t help but ask, “Aren’t you going to have breakfast, Mr. Goodman?”

Titus didn’t even bother to turn around as he walked out. Paul just waved at Lindsay before following him.

Lindsay looked at the table full of breakfast, then glanced around the empty villa, letting out a helpless sigh. “Forget it. He isn’t eating, just let him be.”

In the car, Paul kept glancing at Titus through the rearview mirror.

“Mr. Goodman, how about I take you to the hospital and get your hand checked out?” he suggested.

“No need,” Titus replied coldly.

Paul hesitated, then said, “But if your hand stays like this, people might get suspicious.”
