Chapter 165

Chapter 165

Yvonne’s face fell. “Titus…”

Titus finally glanced at her, his tone flat. “You can go home first.”

Chiara frowned slightly, her gaze shifting between the two of them before she tried to talk to Ryan.

“Ryan, come here, let Mommy hold you, okay? It’s time to go home. It’s getting late. Aren’t you sleepy?” Chiara coaxed.

Ryan glanced at Chiara, then snuggled further into Titus’s shoulder, clearly not wanting to let go.

Eunice was floored. She grabbed Chiara’s arm and whispered in her ear, “Seriously, what’s up with this? Are they telepathic or something? Father-son vibes much?”

Chiara was just as baffled. It does seem like that is the only explanation for this bizarre situation.

Ryan was instantly attached to Titus the moment they met, which totally threw Chiara for a loop.

Seeing Chiara looking a bit conflicted, Titus said in a deep voice. Come on, I can take you guys home.”

But Chiara glanced at Yvonne. “That seems like it’d be inconvenient.”

Yvonne’s eyes flickered. She looked at Chiara, her feelings a tangled mess she couldn’t even put into words.

She shot Titus a quick glance, then put on a gracious smile, acting like it was no big deal.

“It’s fine, Ms. Lynch. Titus and I see each other every day anyway, so missing one night doesn’t matter. We can just have dinner tomorrow.”

Yvonne moved closer to Titus, gently placing her hand on his arm as she murmured.

“Titus, why don’t you go ahead and take Ms. Lynch and her kid home first?”

Eunice was speechless.

Titus shot Chiara a look, then decisively turned and walked off with Ryan in his arms.

Chiara hesitated for a moment, frowning, but let it go. She nodded politely to Yvonne.

“Sorry for crashing your date,” Chiara said.

Yvonne just shook her head and smiled. “It’s fine, really. We’ll have plenty of chances to be together. I just came back hoping to spend a little more time with him.”

Chiara heard her say that and knew she had to leave. There was o way Chiara would let Ryan out of her sight, not even for a

moment.

Eunice gave Yvonne a quick glance and followed Chiara out, muttering quietly, “No wonder she was nominated for Best Actress. Her acting skills are next level.”

Chiara shot her a look, shaking her head to tell her to quit gossing.

But Eunice just shrugged. “Please, she’s a celebrity. She probably lives for gossip and drama.”

Paul was totally stunned when he saw Titus walking out with a lile kid in his arms. He just stood there, frozen for a good

few seconds.

It wasn’t until Chiara showed up that Paul finally snapped out of and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Holy crap, what the hell is going on here?”

Shocked as he was, Paul still managed to open the door and step out of the car.

“Mr. Goodman…” Paul greeted, sounding a bit awkward.

Then he glanced at Chiara, his expression complicated. “Mrs. Goodman, you’re back.”

Chiara gave Paul a gentle smile. “Paul, it’s been a while.”

“Yeah, it really has. Mrs. Goodman, why don’t you get in first?” Paul stammered, clearly a bit nervous.

Titus was already in the back seat, holding Ryan.

Chiara nodded with a smile, but gently reminded him, “Just call me by my name from now on.”

Paul glanced at Titus in the back seat, scratched his head awkwardly and gave a nervous chuckle.

“Sorry, force of habit, I guess,” Paul said, a little embarrassed.

“Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it,” Chiara replied. Then she turned to Eunice, who looked like she wanted to say something but stopped herself. Chiara gave her a reassuring look.

“You should head home too,” Chiara said, giving Eunice a reassuring look.

Eunice blinked. “You don’t want the leftovers?”

“Nah, I’ve got food at home. You can have it. I’ll head off first. By,” Chiara replied.

“Bye,” Eunice said, just watching as Chiara got into the car.

Even after the car drove off, Eunice was still in a daze.

‘Is she really this chill about it? It’s only been…two years? And she’s already totally over it?’ Eunice thought, still kind of stunned.

‘Is that why she can be so cool with Titus now? I guess it’s a good thing,’ she wondered, a bit confused.

The car was so quiet, the silence felt almost heavy.

Ryan was already fast asleep, nestled against Titus’s shoulder. Kids tend to pass out in seconds when they’re tired.

Chiara glanced over and said softly, “Let me hold him, it’s okay.”

Titus replied directly, “No, just let him sleep. Don’t wake him.”

Chiara insisted, “He won’t wake up. Just let me hold him. He’s probably not comfortable like that.”

The only thing Titus really heard was the last part.

‘Not comfortable?’ he wondered.

“Just let me hold him,” Chiara insisted.

Titus paused for a moment, then said in a low voice, “Come here and take him.”

Chiara glanced at him and realized he was sitting ramrod straig, looking stiff as a board.

So she scooted closer to the two of them, reaching out just as she was about to scoop Ryan up.

Ryan whimpered softly in his sleep.

Chiara’s hand paused mid-air, and Titus instinctively brushed her arm aside.

“Didn’t you say he wouldn’t wake up?” Titus asked.

Chiara went quiet, watching Ryan as if she was trying to figure out why he’d woken up.

Titus’s dark eyes rested on Chiara for a long moment before henally spoke in a low voice, “I’ll hold him while he sleeps.”

Chiara looked up and met his deep gaze. Both of them seemed calm, as if the past no longer mattered between them.

Chiara nodded. “Alright. Thanks for taking care of him.”

After that, neither of them said another word. Paul, unable to resist his curiosity, kept sneaking glances at the rearview

mirror.

But inside, Paul was anything but calm.

‘Mr. Goodman took Ms. Watson out for dinner, but now he’s leaving with Mrs. Goodman? Did they all just bump into each other at the restaurant? Man, that must’ve been one hell of a drama fest, Paul thought.

Right as he was thinking about all this, his phone started ringing

Paul glanced at the screen. Yvonne’s name popped up.

Without even thinking, he tightened his grip on the steering wheel and hit decline. It was pure reflex.

Chiara glanced over, then turned to look out the window, her expression calm, as if nothing had happened.

But Yvonne called again, and Paul gulped nervously.
