When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 166

Chapter 166

Chapter 166

After Chiara ended the call, an unusual silence filled the car.

Paul kept his eyes locked on the road ahead, not daring to look back at all.

It wasn’t until Titus finally spoke, his voice deep and quiet. “How have you been these past two years?”

Chiara’s eyes flickered, but she kept watching the city lights streaming by outside the window.

“I’ve been good,” she replied, her tone light.

Titus hummed lightly in response.

After that, neither of them said another word for the rest of the de.

It wasn’t until the car finally pulled up in front of the Lynch residence that Chiara turned to look at Titus.

There was a wide gap between them, easily enough room for another

“Thanks. Can you hand him to me?” Chiara said.

“What’s his name?” Titus asked.

Chiara replied quietly, “Ryan.”

“Paul, jacket,” Titus instructed.

Paul quickly took off his jacket and passed it to him.

Titus draped the jacket over Ryan’s head, then looked over at Chiara.

“I’ll walk you in,” he said.

Their eyes met. There was no resentment and no confrontation. There was only calm and composure between them.

Chiara looked into his dark eyes for a few seconds before finally opening the car door, quietly accepting his offer.

After all, Titus was Ryan’s birth father. Sooner or later, Ryan would find out the truth about who his dad was.

During those days in the fishing village, every time she saw how much Ryan was starting to look like Titus, she kept wondering how long she could keep the secret.

Honestly, Chiara’s original plan was to raise Ryan all by herself for the rest of their lives. She wanted a quiet and uneventful life.

But Ana had said that Ryan deserved a better environment, and aising him in such a small place would be holding him

back.

It was Ana’s words that truly opened Chiara’s eyes.

Chiara should not make choices for Ryan based solely on her own comfort. He needed to return to the Lynch family, and maybe one day, he’d become a member of the Goodman family oo.

So, day by day, she came to accept it. She would come back, and he would not stop Ryan from meeting the Goodman family and acknowledging his family.

After all, Ryan carried Goodman blood. They had every right to him, and she had no right to take that away from him.

Titus might have let her down, but the Goodman family never did anything wrong by Ryan. Especially his grandmother. She couldn’t be so selfish as to keep Ryan from his family.

As Ryan grew up, he needed more than just a mother’s love.

Ana heard the commotion outside and peeked out the door. The moment she saw who it was, she was stunned.

“Mr Goodman?” Ana blurted out.

Titus’s eyes darkened a bit when he saw Ana.

Ana looked a little awkward, and Chiara gave her a quick look an explained, “We just happened to run into each other. He gave us a ride back.”

Ana nodded, glanced at Titus, and said, “Why don’t you come in and sit for a while?”

“Where’s his room?” Titus asked.

“He still shares a room with me,” Chiara replied.

At that, Titus turned to look at her.

Chiara had no idea what that look meant, so they just stared at each other.

The silence dragged on.

“What’s wrong?” she asked after a long moment.

“Why is he still sleeping with you at his age?” Titus asked, genuinely puzzled.

Chiara was confused. She really didn’t get why Titus was asking, but from the look on his face, he was serious.

In response, Chiara merely stated the facts in a flat tone, “He’s not even two yet.”

Just then, Ana came over with a glass of water, her eyes flicking between the two of them before she finally said, “Mr. Goodman has slept on his own since he was born.”

Chiara just stared at Ana in shock.

‘Seriously? He’s been sleeping alone since he was a baby?’ she thought, still in shock.

For a moment, Chiara was totally speechless.

But Titus was already heading upstairs with Ryan in his arms, murmuring as he went, “It’s about time he started sleeping by himself. Boys need to learn independence.”

Chiara was speechless.

She stared at Titus’s tall figure as he walked upstairs, moving through the house like he owned the place. Feeling a bit unsure about herself, she turned to Ana.

“Mrs. Walker, is he really giving me parenting advice now?” she uttered.

Ana couldn’t help but smile at her reaction, giving Chiara’s shouler a gentle pat.

“The Goodman family believes in raising independent kids from early on,” Ana replied.

Chiara frowned. “Isn’t that a bit too early?”

Ana said earnestly. “Ryan’s not that little anymore, you know. He doesn’t even need milk at night anymore. You really should think about it. Mr Goodman’s right. He’s a boy, and a part of the Goodman family. Isn’t that why you brought him back? So he can have the life he’s meant to have?”

Chiara’s eyes flickered as she looked upstairs again.

Chiara’s bed had a wide crib with rails attached to the side, making the whole sleeping area for mother and son nearly four meters wide.

Titus gently laid Ryan down on his small navy pillow.
