Chiara shot Titus a quick look and nodded. “Yeah, and I really have to thank your grandma for that. Mrs. Walker’s been awesome. She takes great care of Ryan and me.”
Titus picked up his spoon, his voice flat. “I see, that’s good.”
Ana couldn’t help but glance at him a few times. “Mr. Goodman these are all Chiara’s usual favorites. Do you want me to make a couple of your go-to dishes?”
Titus glanced at the four plates on the table. Sure enough, every single one was something Chiara liked.
“No need.” he replied.
Ana let out a sigh of relief. “Alright, take your time. I’ll go check in on Ryan.”
Chiara ate quietly, her appetite a bit better than before.
After all, when she was pregnant and nursing, Ana kept making different dishes for her.
So now, she could actually finish a whole bowl of rice.
Chiara knew Titus had barely picked up his spoon. He just sat there, quietly watching her eat.
Chiara couldn’t care less. Thanks to Ana, her appetite has improved, and she has been hungry ever since the ride home.
Whatever talk was coming, she’d handle it after she was done eating.
It wasn’t until she set down her spoon and took a sip of juice that she finally looked up and met Titus’s gaze.
She bit her lip, deciding to lay it all out from the start.
“Back then, it was just a risk of miscarriage. I begged Debby to cover for me because I wanted to have a clean break from you. Now that Ryan’s grown up, I think we can finally face each other with peace and honesty. What’s done is done, and I don’t want to dwell on it. I hope you feel the same,” Chiara started.
She looked at him, her expression calm. “As for Ryan, your grandma promised she wouldn’t fight me for custody. I’m not selfish. Ryan is part of both our families. If you ever want to see him, you can bring him back to your place. From now on, we’re simply Ryan’s parents, his rock. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Titus leaned back in his chair, his eyes dark and impossible to read as he looked at her.
“Do you have anything else to say?” he asked.
Chiara couldn’t help but glance at him again, surprised at how chill he seemed. It had been over two years. She had already moved on. It was likely that Titus had already moved on, too.
He probably bounced back even faster than she did.
Chiara pulled her arms back from the table, hugged herself lightly, and shook her head.
“That’s all for now. We’ll get along as Ryan’s parents, but we’ll stay out of each other’s way,” she said.
Titus let out a low chuckle, raising an eyebrow. “And what do you mean by ‘stay out of each other’s way?”
Chiara met his gaze, calm and straightforward. “Exactly what I said.”
Titus just nodded slightly, his tone casual. “What if I get married again?”

Chiara shot him a calm look. “That’s your choice. Even if you remarry and have more kids, you’ll always be Ryan’s father. I’m not worried about Ryan being treated unfairly. I’m the one with custody of him
Titus’s long fingers tapped lightly on the table as he just kept staring at her in silence for a long time.
Chiara had said her piece, but she had left all that messy baggage from two years ago untouched.
She rose from her chair, gave him a look, and said, “I guess you don’t have any objections, so….goodbye”
After that, she turned and walked upstairs, while Titus just sat there, watching her go until she was out of sight.
It wasn’t until Ana came downstairs and saw Titus still sitting thee that she couldn’t help but walk over.
“Mr Goodman?” Ana blurted out.
Titus glanced at her. “Don’t you have anything to say to me?”
Ana paused, looked at him for a few seconds, then glanced up at the second floor. As she started clearing the dishes, she finally spoke.
“When I first met Chiara, she was in pretty rough shape. She was pregnant but way too skinny. It wasn’t until we left Halinston that she finally started to bounce back. Everything went smoothly when she had Ryan, thank goodness,” Ana said.
She shot Titus a look as she gathered up the dishes. “We’ve stayed in touch with your grandmother all these years, and honestly, we only came back for Ryan’s sake. Chiara really has let go and just wants things to be peaceful between you two. Now that you’ve moved on too, and there’s someone new in your life, maybe this is for the best.”
With that, Ana headed into the kitchen. By the time she came back out, Titus was already gone.
Ana glanced at the doorway and let out a helpless sigh.
She still thought Chiara and Titus were meant to be together. It really was such a shame.
Since they couldn’t walk through life together, living their own lives and finding their own happiness did not seem like a bad ending.
Paul saw Titus come out and immediately got out of the car to open the back door for him. He glanced at the Lynch residence’s front gate.
“Mr. Goodman, did Ms. Lynch say something to you?” Paul asked
Paul was positive there was no other reason why Titus would be there for so long.
Titus cast a sidelong glance at the window upstairs, its dim light arely spilling out.
“She wants us to just go our separate ways and be well,” he said.
Paul blinked. That sounded reasonable enough to him.
“Go our separate ways?” Titus let out a short, dismissive laugh, clar disdain in his voice.
Paul’s brow twitched at Titus’s reaction. He carefully reminded m, “Mr. Goodman, you’ve got a girlfriend now…”
‘If you don’t want to just go your separate ways, then what is it that you really want?’ Paul wondered.
Titus shot him a cold look, and Paul immediately looked away ad shut up.
“Where would you like to go now, Mr. Goodman?” Paul asked.

Yvonne was still at the hotel, waiting for Titus to show up.
“Where else? Titus shot back
Paul quietly closed the car door, got the hint.
No matter what kind of mood Titus was in before, after tonight, he was probably left feeling shitty
