Chapter 191 Smashing The Wall
Chapter 191 Smashing The Wall
Chiara blinked in surprise. “What are you up to?”
Titus was silent for a few seconds before finally saying, “Just curious.”
But Chiara’s guard went up. She shot him a warning look. “Don’t even think about it.”
Titus looked back at Chiara and Ryan, then waved at Ryan.
“I’m heading out. See you tomorrow,” Titus said.
Ryan waved back, already picking up on how to say goodbye.
“Bye-bye,” Ryan said.
Chiara watched as Titus disappeared into the yard and out of sight. Only then did she turn away, glancing toward the house next door.
There used to be an old couple living next door.
But they’d both passed away a few years back.
This neighborhood was full of old villas, so selling a place here wasn’t exactly easy.
People were way more interested in the brand-new villas over in the development zone.
So the villa next door had probably been sitting empty all this time.
But the next morning, Chiara woke up to Ana saying, “Two guys just showed up. They said they’re here to rip out the cobblestones in the yard.”
That was when Chiara remembered what Titus had said yesterday. She nodded. “Yeah, I was worried Ryan might trip and hurt himself playing out there.”
Ana nodded. “That’s probably for the best. But looks like some folks showed up next door too.”
Chiara paused mid-sip. “Next door? What’s going on over there?”
“Our neighbors. They’ve been hammering away at the walls since early this morning. Looks like they’re doing some renovations,” Ana said.
Chiara’s brow twitched. She set her cup down. “Ana, could you watch Ryan for a bit? I’m going to go check it out.”
“Sure thing,” Ana replied.
Chiara grabbed her coat from the hook by the door, threw it on, and headed out into the yard.
These weren’t standalone villas; they were townhouses.
That meant she could hear everything happening next door.
Just as Chiara was about to go check it out, she saw someone suddenly break a huge hole in her own wall.
Chiara stumbled back in shock, then snapped out of it and rushed forward to stop them.
“Hold on! What are you doing?” Chiara called out.
The workers saw Chiara and nodded. “Sorry for the mess, we’re just the renovation crew.”
Chiara glanced at the gaping hole in her wall and asked calmly, “Why are you smashing through my wall?”
The two workers exchanged glances. “The owner told us to do it. He said he wants to connect the two houses by breaking through the wall.”
Chiara’s brow twitched. She already had a pretty good idea who it was, but she still asked.
“What’s the owner’s last name?” Chiara asked.
“Goodman. And he said you were aware, so we started,” one of the workers replied.
Chiara just stared, lost for words.
Chiara shut her eyes, didn’t bother to say anything, and just walked back inside.
Ana was playing with Ryan. Seeing Chiara return so fast, she asked, “What happened?”
Chiara grabbed her phone and dialed Titus.
He picked up almost instantly. “Hey, you’re awake. Good morning.”
“Titus, have you lost it? Why did you buy the house next door? And now you’re literally smashing through my wall! What’s your deal?” Chiara demanded.

Titus listened quietly as Chiara vented, then said in a calm voice, “I just wanted to be closer to you two. Don’t worry, I won’t be bothering you. It’s really just so I can spend more time with Ryan.”
Chiara snapped, “And you just decided to break down the wall between our houses without even asking me first?”
Titus replied, “Well, that’s so Ryan can come over and play whenever he wants. I turned the yard into a mini playground. I figured you wouldn’t feel safe letting him play outside, so now he can have fun right here at home.”
Chiara was at a loss for words. ‘Seriously? He’s got an answer for everything, and it’s all about Ryan, she thought.
“I even set up an indoor playground for him. Ryan’s gonna love it. Now he can just come over and play whenever he wants,” Titus added.
Chiara hung up without another word. ‘What else could I even say?’ she thought.
He’d already made his move overnight. He never even gave her a chance to say no.
And honestly, she didn’t even have the right to stop him. It was not like she could stop him from buying a house if he wanted to.
He knew she wasn’t going anywhere, so he went all in without hesitation.
And as for breaking down the wall, that was just so Ryan could easily go back and forth between the houses.
Chiara let out a frustrated sigh, pressing her hand to her forehead. She was clearly anything but calm right now.
Ana picked up on the situation right away from just a few words.
“Titus bought the house next door?” Ana asked.
Chiara nodded. “Yeah, and he even broke down the wall between our houses.”
Ana blinked, then blurted out, “Guess that’s pretty convenient.”
Chiara paused, glancing at Ryan. She’d spent the whole night thinking about what to do about his blood disorder, but still hadn’t figured it out.
But one thing was clear. Even if she had another baby just for Ryan, she’d still love that little one with all her heart.
They were both her own kids. There was no way she wouldn’t love them.
But like Titus said, if she had another baby just because of Ryan, it wouldn’t be fair to the new baby.
Ryan was born while they were still together. He was special in a way no one else could be.
But she knew she still wanted to make sure nothing went wrong, no matter what.
Not long after, there was a knock at the door. Ana got up to answer it and saw Lindsay.
The two had never met before, so they didn’t know each other.
“Hello, is Mrs. Goodman home?” Lindsay asked.
“Mrs. Goodman?” Ana repeated, a little puzzled.
Chiara recognized Lindsay’s voice. She glanced at Ryan, who was totally absorbed in his toys, checked that he was safe, and then walked over.
“Lindsay?” Chiara called out.
Lindsay perked up the moment she saw Chiara. “Oh, Mrs. Goodman!”
Chiara smiled softly at her. Lindsay had been by her side for years, taking care of her. Of course there was a real bond between them.
“Hey, what brings you over?” Chiara asked.
Lindsay took her hand with a big smile. “Mr. Goodman asked me to come by and said we’re moving today. I just got here and realized it’s this place!”
Chiara smiled and nodded. Lindsay had seen all the news and photos about Ryan, so she couldn’t help but peek around curiously.
“Where’s Ryan? Can I see him?” Lindsay asked, her eyes lighting up.
“Of course, Lindsay, come on in,” Chiara said.
“Oh, coming, coming…” Lindsay said, bustling in after Chiara.
