Chapter 192 The Buyer Is Titus Goodman

Chapter 192 The Buyer Is Titus Goodman

“Mrs. Goodman?” Lindsay called out.

“Ryan got curious about the noise, so I brought him over to check it out,” Chiara replied.

Lindsay glanced at the construction site. “It’s really loud here. Hope it doesn’t scare the little guy.”

Chiara looked at Ryan, whose curious eyes were already darting around, clearly excited. She smiled.

“It’s fine. He’s not easily scared,” she said.

Lindsay nodded and pointed around. “They’re putting in a slide over there, an outdoor pool on that side, and right here, there’s going to be a climbing and pull-up area.”

As she spoke, trucks outside started unloading furniture and appliances.

The villa was spotless, but everything inside had been cleared out.

It was fine living in a pre-owned house as long as it was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, but everything they used inside had to be brand new.

“Hey, watch out with that wedding portrait! Don’t let it get broken, okay?” Lindsay called out.

Chiara turned and saw the movers hauling out the giant wedding portrait from the truck.

She looked at it for just a few seconds before turning her gaze away.

“Come on, Ryan. Let’s go get your milk,” she said.

Ryan didn’t fuss, but his little eyes stayed locked onto all the activity happening in the yard.

Ana came back after a bit. “Chiara, should we get ready with some extra food tonight? The kitchen next door doesn’t seem to have started prepping yet. Is Lindsay joining us for dinner?”

“Yeah, I hadn’t even thought about it until you mentioned it. Let’s make a few more dishes tonight,” Chiara replied.

“Alright, I’ll start prepping the ingredients now,” Ana said.

Chiara just nodded.

It was not like Chiara could stop Titus from moving in next door, and honestly, she didn’t have any reason to, either.

As long as they kept out of each other’s way, that was all she cared about.

She just hoped Titus would really not interfere with her daily routine.

Ryan took a nap in the afternoon, and not long after, Eunice showed up with a bag of groceries.

As soon as she walked in, she asked, “Did someone buy the house next door? And what’s with the hole in your wall?”

Chiara looked up at her. “Yeah, it’s sold. The buyer is Titus.”

Eunice’s eyes went wide. She was about to head to the kitchen with the groceries, but when she heard that, she whipped around to look at Chiara.

“Who?!” Eunice gaped.

Chiara met her gaze. “You heard me right.”

Eunice blinked, handed the groceries to Ana, and came over to Chiara.

“What’s his deal?” Eunice could only think of one possibility. “Wait, did he just break up with that actress and now he’s trying to get back together with you?”

“Not a chance,” Chiara said coolly.

“Then what’s he playing at? Moving in right next door and even knocking down a wall. Sounds like he’s just trying to make a move by living so close,” Eunice pressed.

It was not like Chiara hadn’t thought that Titus might have something like that in mind.

“But he knows there’s no way we’re getting back together,” she said.

“That’s exactly why he moved in next door. He’s trying to wear you down, playing the long game, like that whole boiling a frog in warm water thing!” Eunice pressed.

Chiara just shook her head. “Not even boiling very old go to my Hesles, he claims it’s all for Ryan.”

Successfully unlocked!

Eunice couldn’t help but shake her head. “Com.m

Chiara didn’t say a word. Of course, she didn’t buy it.

“So what are those people doing over there?” Eunice asked.

“They’re building a playground for Ryan in the yard,” Chiara replied.

Eunice rolled her eyes. “Come on, he’s not really building that playground for Ryan. If you ask me, he’s still not over you.”

Chiara didn’t even want to entertain the idea that Titus might still have feelings for her. She just didn’t want to think about it.

She just wanted to keep things strictly about being Ryan’s parents.

“But he’s had a girlfriend before…” Chiara said.

“Girlfriend?” Eunice shot her a meaningful look. “Honestly, I’m not so sure he and Yvonne were ever really a thing.”

Chiara frowned. “What do you mean?”

“I just feel like something’s off. You seriously haven’t picked up on anything strange?” Eunice said.

“What’s up?” Chiara replied.

Eunice said, “Titus and Yvonne were all over the place with their relationship, like they were shouting it from the rooftops. Honestly, it seemed more about boosting Yvonne’s fame than anything real.

“But as soon as you and Ryan showed up, they split. Don’t you think that’s kinda suspicious?” Eunice said.

“So what are you getting at?” Chiara asked.

Eunice snapped her fingers. “Exactly! He made a big show of his relationship with Yvonne, like he wanted the whole world to know. But honestly, I think the person he most wanted to see it was you.”

She spelled it out so clearly, there was no way Chiara could miss what she was getting at.

“So you think he wanted me to see he’s got someone new, make me believe he’s moved on, so I’d drop my guard, and then

wait for me to come back to Halinston?” Chiara asked.

Eunice nodded. “Yeah, totally possible, right? Otherwise, why would they split up so fast? Maybe the whole thing was just an act to get you back.”

Chiara stayed quiet for a long moment.

Seeing her like that, Eunice tried to reassure her. “Seriously, you don’t need to feel any pressure. He’s the one who screwed

up, not you.

“Even if he’s still hung up on you, as long as you’re not interested, I doubt he’d dare do anything. Not to mention the rest of the Goodman family has your back.”

“Back in the day, Titus might’ve tried to pressure you or bribe you, but now? No way. He knows he’s in the wrong,” Eunice

added.

Then Eunice added, “While you were away these past two years, I went to visit your grandpa and your uncle and aunt for you. I actually bumped into Titus a couple of times while I was there.”

Chiara’s gaze wavered. Even now, just mentioning her grandpa’s death made her heart ache.

“Any news about Elaine?” Chiara asked.

Eunice was caught off guard for a moment when Chiara mentioned Elaine. “Honestly, I thought you’d never bring up that woman again.”
