Chapter 196 Can You Help Me Out?
Chapter 196 Can You Help Me Out?
A week went by, and Titus still came over every day to have dinner with Ryan.
Lindsay would also come by before dinner to lend a hand.
After dinner, Ryan would still dash next door to play for a while before heading back to rest.
One day, Ryan was so tired from playing that he just leaned into Titus’s arms and fell asleep.
Chiara asked Ana to come over and carry Ryan back.
“Take him back first. Since he’s already asleep, don’t bother washing him up. Just change his clothes. I need to talk to Titus for a bit, I’ll be back soon,” Chiara said.
Ana carefully took Ryan from her and nodded, glancing back a couple of times before leaving with Ryan in her arms.
After watching them leave, Chiara turned to Titus, only to find him already looking at her.
His eyes were especially dark and unreadable.
Chiara shifted her gaze away, having no intention of meeting his eyes.
“Which room is yours?” she asked.
Titus held her gaze for a while, then stepped forward and took her hand. He asked softly, looking down at her, “Are you ready?”
Chiara replied coolly, “There’s nothing to prepare for. It’s not like we haven’t done this before.”
After a few seconds of silent staring, Titus simply scooped her up and carried her upstairs.
Chiara tensed up, unable to convince herself to relax.
Lindsay stood there, dumbfounded, watching them head upstairs. She was so stunned she couldn’t even react for a long
moment.
‘What the heck is going on? Why did he suddenly pick her up and carry her upstairs?’ Lindsay thought, totally baffled.
When Titus pushed open the door, Chiara glanced up and was caught off guard for a moment.
The room looked so familiar. It wasn’t exactly the same, but close enough to give her a weird sense of déjà vu.
He’d basically hauled everything from the old villa to this place.
Even that massive wedding photo was now sitting right above the headboard.
Chiara stared at it for a few seconds before tearing her gaze away. “Let’s go to the guest room,” she said, her voice flat.
Titus looked down at her for a few seconds, then swung his leg and kicked the door shut.
“We’ll do it here. The guest room doesn’t even have a bed,” he said.
Titus set her down on the bed, and Chiara immediately closed her eyes.
Chiara lay there, waiting, but he didn’t make a move.
She finally opened her eyes and saw Titus standing at the foot of the bed, taking his time with each button on his shirt, his gaze fixed on her.
“You’re so tense. How are we supposed to do this if you’re all wound up? Didn’t your doctor say that if you want to get pregnant naturally, you gotta chill and keep your mood up?” Titus said, his voice low.
Chiara thought to herself, ‘I’ve read all about it. The odds are way better when both people are really into each other and totally relaxed.”
But that just wasn’t possible for her. After all, they weren’t some madly-in-love couple, or even an actual married pair. “You can still think it over…” Chiara said quietly.
But Titus just turned and walked straight into the bathroom.
Hearing the sounds coming from the bathroom, Chiara slowly sat up, fixing her gaze on the bathroom door for a while before finally taking in the room around her.
For a moment, she almost felt like she was back in that old villa.
It was uncanny how much this place resembled the old one.
She had no choice but to shut her eyes, not wanting to look anymore.
Just thinking about what was coming next, she couldn’t even describe how she felt.

It was almost stifling.
She kept telling herself to relax. She’d already made her choice. There was no turning back now.
She pulled back the covers and lay down.
It was like she was a concubine from ancient times, just waiting for the king to show up, hoping for a royal baby to secure
her place.
Chiara almost wanted to laugh at the thought, but she just couldn’t.
When the sound of running water finally stopped, Chiara closed her eyes and waited in silence, mentally bracing herself for what was to come.
Titus stepped out of the bathroom, paused when he saw the pajamas on the floor, then glanced over at the lump under the
covers.
He dried his hair as he walked over, but didn’t say a word. Instead, he slipped under the covers on the other side and turned off the lights.
Only then did Chiara slowly open her eyes.
Titus moved closer at the same time, but all he did was pull her into his arms and just held her there, not making any further moves.
Chiara froze for a few seconds, then blurted out awkwardly, “So… we’re not doing this?”
“Not tonight,” Titus replied.
She went quiet, not even sure what to say, so she just muttered,
“Guess I’ll just come back when you feel like it.”
And with that, she started to get up to leave.
But Titus pulled her back into his arms, holding her tight, his voice low and husky in her ear.
“It’s not that I don’t want to. I know you’re not ready yet. You’re so tense. What do you think your chances are of getting pregnant like this?” he said.
