Chapter 198 Strike First
Chapter 198 Strike First
Kason’s gaze grew somber as he stared at the sudden deposit in his bank account. He looked up at Robyn.
“What did she say to you?” he asked.
Robyn shot him a quick look, then lowered her head and repeated Heather’s words.
Kason fell into a long silence after hearing that. Then he rose from his chair and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window. Robyn looked up at him, her fists clenched slightly, her eyes clouded with emotion.
Robyn asked, “When are you leaving?”
Kason narrowed his eyes, gazing out at the cityscape. His face gave nothing away, and his eyes were as dark and unfathomable as ever.
“Since she’s being so generous, I’ll just accept her offer. Guess I’ll stop showing up from tomorrow,” he said.
Robyn bit her lip, looking like she wanted to say something, but in the end, she just shot him a long, searching look, then turned and walked out.
True to his word, Kason didn’t show up at the office the next day.
One or two days were fine, but after three or five days, people started to get curious.
So, at the morning meeting a week later, one of the shareholders finally couldn’t help but ask about Kason.
“Ms. Lynch, what’s Mr. Bradford been up to lately? Why haven’t we seen him around the office?” one of the shareholders asked.
“Yeah, Ms. Lynch, where’s Mr. Bradford?” another chimed in.
“I’ve actually got a project I wanted his input on…” another shareholder piped up.
Heather shot the speaker a look and said, “What project is it? Bring the details to my office later. I’ll handle it.”
With that, she rose from her chair, swept her gaze across the conference room, and her words were firm and deliberate. Heather said, “One more thing. I have an announcement. Kason’s contract with Lynch Group has ended, so he will no longer serve as CEO here.”
As soon as those words left her mouth, the shareholders started getting restless.
“He just up and left?” one of them blurted out.
“Didn’t even give us a heads-up?” another chimed in.
“Yeah, this is way too sudden. You don’t think something else is going on, do you?” someone else asked. “Seriously, now that Kason’s gone, what’s going to happen to us?” another shareholder added.
Heather spoke up, her voice calm and steady, cutting through the buzz of conversation.
She said, “Lynch Group is now standing firmly on its own feet. From this moment forward, we no longer need to depend on anyone else. I’m grateful to Mr. Bradford for his support and guidance over the past two years, and I want to thank all of you as well.
“Let’s keep pushing forward together and make Lynch Group even greater.”
With those words, she turned and walked out of the conference room, leaving all the doubts and chatter behind her.
Robyn followed her out of the conference room. “Heather, the hotel told me yesterday that Mr. Bradford has checked out and left.”
Heather didn’t slow her pace. She just nodded calmly.
“I know,” she said.
Robyn stood quietly for a moment, watching Heather walk into her office, then turned and left.
Back in her office, Heather lingered by the window for a long time. She pulled up Kason’s contact info on her phone.
After a long pause, she hit delete and wiped out every way to reach him.
‘It was just a fleeting arrangement where both got what they needed. Who’d ever mistake it for something real?’ Heather thought to herself.

Chapter 198 Strike Fust
Heather closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and quietly buried all those mixed emotions she couldn’t put into words.
For more than ten days in a row, Chiara would head next door every day to lie in bed with Titus for a while.
She honestly had no idea how to describe what she was feeling lately.
They were all over each other every day, doing everything except that last step.
Chiara frowned at herself in the mirror, feeling that Titus was definitely scherning something.
But for Ryan’s sake, and because she wanted another baby with him, she had to play dumb and act like she didn’t notice a thing.
Still, deep down, she knew she couldn’t just let him keep pulling the strings.
It was time for her to strike first and settle this once and for all.
She picked up the perfume and spritzed a little on her neck. As she lowered her hand, a wry, self-mocking smile tugged at her lips.
‘When have I ever tried to seduce a guy just to sleep with him?’ she thought to herself.
Even back when they were newlyweds, she’d never once thought about doing something like that.
The pajamas she wore on their wedding night were way more conservative than this sexy slip dress she had on now. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, glanced back at Ryan, who was fast asleep, and then got up to leave. Lindsay spotted her and looked like she wanted to say something, but held back. Chiara had been sneaking over next door almost every day lately. Once or twice was nothing, but after so many times, it was hard not to get suspicious.
“Chiara, you and Mr. Goodman… are you two…” Lindsay finally asked.
Chiara saw Ana struggling to get the words out. After a brief pause, she figured she might as well just tell her.
There was no way she could keep this under wraps forever anyway.
“Ana, there’s something about Ryan I need to tell you. But please, don’t mention it to anyone else for now. It’s something Titus and I decided together,” Chiara said softly.
Ana paused, realizing how serious this was.
She nodded slightly. “Go ahead.”
Chiara explained the whole situation to her, keeping it simple and straightforward
Ana’s expression shifted, her worry deepening as she listened.
“How could this happen?” she asked, her voice full of concern.
“So Ana, it’s really not a huge problem. Once Ryan gets the stem cell transplant, he’ll be fine. As long as he doesn’t have any bleeding episodes, there’s no real danger.
“When I’m not around, I just need you to keep a close eye on him and help me watch over him,” Chiara said gently.
“And please don’t mention any of this to Debby or the others. I don’t want them worrying unnecessarily. We’re already taking care of it,” she added.
Ana nodded in understanding. “Don’t worry, I won’t say a word to Debby or anyone else and get them all anxious. I’ll make sure to keep a close watch on Ryan.”
Chiara nodded. “Why don’t you go in and stay with him for a bit? I’ll be back soon.”
Ana understood what Chiara was up to, so she didn’t press further. She just nodded and went upstairs to keep Ryan company.
When Chiara got to the house next door, she didn’t see Lindsay anywhere. Everyone probably knew she came over every night, so they just made themselves scarce as soon as it got dark.
