Chapter 202 Something Happened
Chapter 202 Something Happened
Lindsay heard the commotion and poked her head out of the kitchen. The moment she saw what was happening, she yelped, “Yikes!” and quickly ducked back inside.
Chiara shot Titus a furious glare, trying to get up and fight back, but with her legs dangling awkwardly, she couldn’t muster any strength at all.
So, she went for the bite!
Titus sucked in a breath through his teeth. He dodged fast, but Chiara still managed to catch the tip of his tongue.
The bitterness mixed with the taste of blood made him want to gag.
For a moment, both of them looked awkward and uncomfortable.
The taste was truly awful.
“Let go!” Chiara snapped.
Titus slowly released her, one hand supporting her back as he helped her up.
Once Chiara was on her feet, she gave Titus a death glare and turned to leave.
Titus frowned, the taste lingering in his mouth making him grimace.
“You’re leaving already? Did you drink that nasty medicine for nothing?” he teased.
Sure enough, Chiara, who had been about to storm off, froze in place.
‘After choking down that disgusting medicine, am I really just going to leave?’ Chiara grumbled to herself.
Titus watched her back and softened his tone. “Come on, I was just messing with you. When did you get so stingy?”
Chiara finally turned to look at him, her expression cold as she gave a dismissive curl of her lips.
“Joking?” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
With that, she headed for the stairs, making it clear she wasn’t sticking around.
Titus watched her walk upstairs in silence.
“Lindsay,” he called out.
“Oh?” Lindsay poked her head out again, looking at him. “Mr. Goodman?”
“Take Ryan home,” Titus said.
“Okay, sure!” Lindsay replied.
After Ryan was gone, Titus finally got up and slowly made his way upstairs.

When the Goodman family heard about Titus’s shameless stunt, they just kept quiet.
Charlie, on the other hand, couldn’t help but feel a little jealous.
“So, he gets to see my grandson every single day?” Charlie muttered.
Adele shot him a cool look but didn’t say a word, just kept making tea.
Charlie rubbed his nose, trying to sound casual. “Honey, how about we buy a place nearby too?”
Adele frowned. “Why don’t you ask Mom if she’s okay with that first?”
It was a Goodman family tradition. Once one retired, he or she had to move back into the Goodman manor.
They’d lived separately for a while too.
It wasn’t until they handed the company over to Titus that they moved back in.
The whole point of the rule was to make sure the elders in the family wouldn’t end up feeling lonely.
No matter how much Debby wanted to see her grandson, she’d never move out of the Goodman manor.
Charlie glanced up at the second floor and sighed. “Oh, I really want to see Ryan. What about you, honey?”
Adele gave him another cool look, thinking he was just stating the obvious.
‘How could I not want to see him?’ she though

“Why don’t we go visit Ryan today?” Charlie suggested
Adele set down the teapot. “Alright, let’s do that.”

The couple waved to Debby and headed out.
Debby lounged in her rocking chair, listening to opera and basking in the sunshine.
Life went on, quiet and serene.
Chiara’s daily mission was to get pregnant. She was all in, doing everything she could to make it happen.
But that morning, the Lynch Group got slammed with some serious trouble out of nowhere.
Heather hadn’t come home all night, and Chiara only saw the news when morning came.
She gawked at the news in disbelief. The headline said Lynch Group was under suspicion for tax evasion, and the person who reported it was actually their own CFO!
Chiara was so stunned, the bowl just slipped right out of her hand and hit the floor with a bang.
Ana pulled her away quickly. “Are you okay?” Ana asked.
Chiara stared at her phone, her voice shaky. “Where’s Heather? She didn’t come home last night, did she?”
Ana shook her head. “No, she didn’t. Why don’t you give her a call?” Ana replied.
Chiara’s face went pale. She knew this wasn’t just some baseless rumor. She had a clear impression of the CFO, Robyn Irving.
Back when she was in college, she’d run into Robyn plenty of times.
She knew about the relationship between Robyn and Heather.
‘So why would Robyn suddenly report Heather?’ Chiara wondered, totally baffled.
‘What could have happened?’ she thought, panic starting to build inside her.
No matter how many times Chiara called, she just couldn’t get through to Heather. Just as she was starting to panic, Titus walked into the villa.
It was clear he already knew. He walked over and looked at Chiara knowingly. “Go get changed.”
Chiara looked at him, her throat dry. “What for?”
Titus’s gaze was dark and impossible to read. “Heather’s been taken in for questioning. The Lynch Group is without a leader right now. You need to take charge. Listen to me, go change, and I’ll go with you.”
Chiara tightened her grip on her phone, her face turning pale, worry flooding her eyes.
“Is it that bad?” she asked, her voice trembling.
Titus paused for a few seconds before finally saying, “For Heather, it’s not a big deal. She won’t be in any real trouble herself.”
‘But what about the Lynch Group?’ Chiara thought, her stomach twisting with/worry.
‘A scandal like this is bound to tank the stock price. What’ll happen to the company now?’ she fretted, her mind spinning.
Titus stepped forward and squeezed her shoulders, steadying her. “Trust me, go get changed. I’m here with you.”
Chiara froze for a few seconds, then did as she was told and headed upstairs. She’d barely taken a few steps when…
‘Ryan… Chiara thought anxiously, her mind racing with worry.
“My parents are already on their way. Ryan will be staying at the Goodman manor for the next few days,” Titus reassured her.
Chiara rushed upstairs, her footsteps hurried and full of anxiety.
Ana glanced at Titus and asked quietly, “Titus, is it really that serious?”
Titus’s expression turned grim. “Heather’s been set up.”
“Set up? By who? Was it the CFO?” Ana pressed, worry in her voice.”
Titus didn’t reply, his eyes clouded. ‘No way the CFO would have the guts to pull something like this on Heather, especially now, he thought.
‘Someone’s definitely pulling the strings behind her, he thought.
As for who it was, Titus’s gaze turned pitch-black, bottomless.
Chiara came downstairs after changing, glanced at Titus but said nothing. There was no way she’d refuse his help now.
She knew when to put her pride aside.
“What should I do when I get to the office?” Chiara asked, her voice steady but anxious.
