Chapter 203 Betray Them
Chapter 203 Betray Them
Just when everyone was at their wits’ end, Chiara finally pushed open the conference room door.
Everyone froze for a second when they saw her, but the moment they spotted Titus standing behind her, it was like they’d just seen their savior.
Just one look between them and everyone knew what was up.
Chiara was no fool. She saw right through everyone in the room.
“Mr. Goodman, Ms. Lynch…” someone called out.
Everyone stood up to greet them, then jumped right into business.
“Mr. Goodman, you’re here to help us out at Lynch Group, right?” someone asked.
Titus nodded. “Everyone, please have a seat.”
So everyone sat back down.
Titus guided Chiara to the head of the table and sat down beside her.
“I’ve looked over the tax bill. We need to pay it first,” Titus said.
The deputy director of the finance department stood up, his face pale. “But Mr. Goodman, there’s no money left in the company’s accounts.”
“Where did the money go?” Chiara asked urgently.
The director said, “I checked the accounts. A few days ago, 7 billion dollars was transferred out of the company’s account into Mr. Bradford’s personal account. When I noticed, I asked Director Irving about it.
“She said it was on Ms. Lynch’s orders. I wasn’t sure, so I double-checked with Ms. Lynch herself, and she confirmed it. So now, the company’s account is basically empty…”
And when Lynch Group’s tax debt was exposed, the amount was enough to make anyone’s jaw drop.
Turns out it was a whopping 3 billion dollars, and with penalties, they’d have to pay double, so that was more than 7 billion dollars on the line.
Everyone was left speechless. Clearly, nobody had a clue about this, and soon the room was buzzing with whispers. ‘What the heck is Ms. Lynch up to?’ someone muttered.
‘She just handed over 7 billion dollars? Didn’t even bother to check with the rest of us?’ another person complained. ‘Seriously, what the hell is going on? How did we end up with nothing left?’ someone else chimed in.
‘What is Ms. Lynch even thinking?’ another person muttered.
Chiara knew exactly what was going on. As the room buzzed with whispers, she turned to Titus.
Titus was already looking at her. Chiara pressed her lips together and stood up.
“Everyone, please calm down. I know why Heather gave Mr. Bradford that money,” Chiara said.
“What?” someone blurted out.
“Why would Ms. Lynch do something like that?” another person asked.,
“Yeah, we haven’t even gotten our dividends this year. What are we supposed to do now?” someone else chimed in. Chiara raised her hand. “Everyone, please quiet down and listen to me.”
“Back when Heather was trying to get Mr. Bradford to join Lynch Group, she made a private deal with him. This was the arrangement from the very beginning. Mr. Bradford gets a share of all the company’s profits while he’s here,” Chiara explained.
“Wait, what?” someone stammered.
“How could something like this even happen?” another person blurted out.
“How could Ms. Lynch agree to something like that?” someone else asked.
“Seriously, what was she even thinking?” someone muttered.
“Great, now the company can’t even pay the taxed What are we supported to do?” another person complained.

Just then, the legal director stood up, glancing at Chirst then at Lits
“Ms. Lynch, Mr. Goodman, there’s actually one more thing…” he said.

Titus’s eyes darkened as he saw him stand. “Go on.”
Chiara fixed her gaze on him, too. She could tell he was clearly uneasy
“A while back, Heather Lynch asked me to draft a share transfer agreement for Mr. Bradford. She transferred ten percent of her stake to him,” the legal director added.
As soon as those words left his mouth, the whole room went into chaos.
If it were just about the money, they could live with that. Kason had done a lot for Lynch Group, after all.
Giving him a cut was only fair, and even if some folks grumbled, nobody would really object.
But Kason didn’t just walk away with cash. He got a chunk of the shares too. Now that was a whole different story.
“What?!” someone blurted out.
“Ten percent?!” someone exclaimed.
“Has Heather lost her mind?” another person blurted out.
“She’s gone completely crazy! Seriously, she’s lost it!” someone else cried.
“What on earth is she trying to pull? What’s going through her head?” another voice demanded.
Chiara froze for a few seconds, clearly just as blindsided as everyone else. She turned to Titus, looking just as shocked.
Titus’s face was a blank mask, his gaze dark and unfathomable.
Chiara knew Titus well. Seeing that look, she realized things were way more serious than she’d ever imagined.
Maybe this was way bigger than just the tax issue.
Or maybe there was something else at play here that she hadn’t even realized…
Chiara clenched her fists, totally lost about what to do next.
She had absolutely no idea what was going on with the company.
Titus didn’t stay silent for long. He glanced at the deputy director of the finance department.
“I’ll transfer the funds from Goodman Group to cover the tax bill. Let’s get that taken care of first,” Titus said.
As soon as he said that, the room finally quieted down. Everyone stared at Titus like he was their savior.
Chiara opened her mouth, but for once, she was at a loss for words.
“Thank you so much, Mr. Goodman. We couldn’t have done it without you…” one of the executives said.
“Exactly, thank you, Mr. Goodman…” someone else echoed.
Chiara didn’t object. Right now, dealing with the crisis at hand was her top priority.
After the meeting, Chiara turned to Titus and asked directly, “Is there something you’re not telling me?”
Titus shot her a look. “Let’s talk when Heather’s back.”
“Just tell me. I know you know something,” Chiara insisted.
Titus stared at her for a few seconds before finally saying, “If my guess is right, Heather…”
He paused, then said, “The whole Lynch Group’s been played.”
Chiara’s heart gave a nervous flutter. “What do you mean? Set up? By who? Why would anyone want to do that…”
She suddenly froze, then shot up from her chair. “Wait, are you saying it was Kason?”
Titus nodded, his eyes deep and unreadable. “Maybe he was after Lynch Group from the very start.”
Chiara frowned, her voice tight. “But wasn’t it you and Heather who brought Kason in?”
Titus’s face darkened. “I’m sorry.”
Titus knew this was on him. He had to take responsibility.
“Don’t stress, I’ll handle this mess. After all, Heather only knew about Kason because of me,” Titus reassured her.
But Titus was well aware. Even if he’d kept quiet, Heather would’ve learned about Kason sooner or later.
