Chapter 204 Investigate The Lynch Family
Chapter 204 Investigate The Lynch Family
Heather just couldn’t figure out why Robyn would betray her over Kason and stab Lynch Group in the back.
The shares under Robyn’s name were enough to set her up for life. Heather just couldn’t wrap her head around why she’d do something like that.
‘Or maybe Kason offered her even more?’ Heather wondered.
‘What could it be?’ she thought.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through Heather’s head. She pressed her hand to her temple, crying out in pain.
“Heather, are you okay?” Chiara asked, her voice full of concern.
Titus glanced at the rearview mirror and pulled the car over to the side of the road.
Heather clutched her head, and suddenly, all those things she’d ignored before seemed to snap into place.
‘That familiar smell about Robyn… Isn’t that the same smell Kason has?’ Heather thought.
“Heather, are you okay? Do you want to go to the hospital?” Chiara asked, her voice full of worry.
Heather slowly closed her eyes and shook her head. She squeezed Chiara’s hand and leaned her head on her shoulder.
“I’m fine. Just take me to the office,” Heather said.
Chiara frowned. “You look really pale. Whatever it is, we can talk about it tomorrow. You need to come home and rest up with me.”
Heather parted her lips, as if she wanted to say something else.
But Titus spoke gently, “Don’t worry about the company for now.”
Heather looked up at him. “And what about the future?”
Titus glanced at her in the rearview mirror but didn’t say anything. He shifted gears and started the car.
“How much did we have to pay back in taxes?” Heather asked.
“Not much,” Chiara replied.
Heather gave a wry smile. “If it was just a small amount, they wouldn’t have called me in for questioning.”
Chiara knew she couldn’t hide it, so after a few seconds of silence, she said, “Over 7 billion dollars.”
Heather closed her eyes and let out a self-mocking laugh. “That’s no small sum.”
Chiara squeezed her hand. “I know this wasn’t your fault, Heather. It was Robyn, wasn’t it?”
Heather’s face was pale and expressionless. “It’s my fault.”
“Heather?” Chiara looked at her in surprise, and even Titus glanced at her in the rearview mirror.
“I messed up with who I trusted. I didn’t even realize she was faking the accounts. It’s on me. I thought our partnership was solid, but I was too careless. There was already a wolf in the company, and I foolishly let a leopard in as well,” Heather
said.
“Please, Heather, don’t…” Chiara said softly.
Heather shook her head, saying nothing. She turned to stare out the window, her face unreadable.
From the shock and heartbreak at first to the numbness she felt now, this night alone had forced her to see things more clearly than ever before.
Even without any hard evidence, she was certain Kason was the one pulling the strings behind Robyn.
What really baffled her was why Kason would go this far.
‘But why?’ Heather wondered.
‘Did he really stick around Lynch Group for two whole years just for something like this?’ Heather thought.
‘No way that’s all there is to it. Tax issues? Sure, it’s serious, but it’s not enough to explain everything,’ she thought.
‘He’s definitely got more up his sleeve. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out what I ever did to piss him off, Heather thought.
After getting out of the car, Heather called out to y
“How much do you know?” she asked.

Titus glanced at her and replied calmly, “I’m looking into it.”

Chapter 204 Investigate The Lynch Family
It was clear that Titus, just like her, knew Kason was the one stirring up trouble, but neither of them had any clue what he was really after.
Kason knew all about Chiara and Titus’s relationship before he ever joined Lynch Group.
But he’d been laying out his plans from the start. There must be a crucial reason behind it.
Titus looked at Heather and said quietly, “Since I was the one who recommended him to you, I’ll take responsibility”
Heather just shook her head, saying nothing. Even though Titus had suggested Kason, the final decision had been hers. Chiara helped Heather up the steps, glancing back at Titus.
Titus stood there with his hands in his pockets, lifting his chin slightly. “I still have to go to the office.”
Chiara nodded and turned away.
Titus watched as the sisters disappeared into the villa before getting back in his car. He turned the wheel to back out, dialing a number as he did.
“Any results yet?” Titus asked.
“Mr. Goodman, we can’t find any leads at all. Everything we know about Kason is just what he’s let slip. One thing’s for sure. He really is an orphan, and there’s no one pulling strings behind him,” Paul replied.
Titus stared straight ahead, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. After a few seconds of silence, he finally spoke. “Dig into the Lynch family,” Titus said.
“Huh?” Paul blurted out, clearly caught off guard.
Titus glanced at the rearview mirror and said quietly, “You heard me. Dig into my father-in-law and mother-in-law.” Paul was silent for a few seconds before replying, “Understood, Mr. Goodman.”
“Also, track down the Lynch Group directors who skipped today’s meeting. I want to see them. Today,” Titus added. “Yes, Mr. Goodman. I’ll arrange it right away,” Paul replied.
After taking a shower, Heather lay down on the bed. Just to be extra careful, Chiara took away her phone as well. She handed Heather a sleeping pill and didn’t leave until she saw Heather take it herself.
“How’s Ms. Lynch holding up?” someone asked.
Chiara shook her head and glanced up at the second floor. “Heather’s tougher than I am. She’ll be fine.”
“That’s good. I heard as long as you pay back the taxes, it shouldn’t turn into anything serious,” another person said. Thinking back to the conversation in the car, Chiara’s brow furrowed.
“Who knows?” Chiara replied.
She picked up Heather’s phone and switched it off.
‘Kason… Chiara couldn’t get him out of her mind.
