Chapter 212 Cracked At Last
Chapter 212 Cracked At Last
After three days of pulling all-nighters, the top experts in Goodman Group’s cybersecurity team finally broke through.
But instead of checking what was inside right away, they immediately notified Titus Goodman.
Heather and Chiara didn’t waste a second before rushing over.
“So, how did it go?” Heather asked.
“Mr. Goodman, we’ve cracked it. There was a self-destruct system inside, so it’s lucky we didn’t try to force our way in. Whoever set the password is a real expert. Just open it and you’ll see everything inside. None of us have checked it out yet, one of the experts reported.
Titus nodded. “You can all leave now.”
“Yes, Mr. Goodman,” they replied in unison.
After they left, Heather slid into the chair.
But as she stared at the icon on the screen, her hand hovered over the mouse, unable to move.
The cursor just lingered over the file. She just couldn’t bring herself to open it.
Chiara stood silently behind her, offering quiet support, eyes fixed on Heather.
Her heart was racing, and her palms were slick with sweat from nerves.
This was an encrypted card, hidden somewhere no one would ever think to look, protected by several layers of passwords.
‘What kind of secrets could be hidden inside?’ Heather thought, her nerves stretched tight.
Titus walked over, took her hand, and used the handkerchief from his suit to wipe her sweaty palm.
He didn’t say a word, just waited quietly, giving them all the time they needed to brace themselves.
He had no idea what was inside, but he knew it was definitely something crucial to the Lynch Group.
Time dragged on endlessly. Heather’s hand was so numb she could barely feel the mouse anymore.
With a deep breath, she finally clicked on the file.
Chiara held her breath, eyes wide and glued to the screen, not daring to blink.
Chiara didn’t understand the financial data at first.
But Titus and Heather could spot the problem right away.
Titus slowly let go of Chiara’s hand and leaned forward, bracing himself against the edge of the desk.
“Keep going,” he said.
Heather’s brow furrowed as she gently scrolled down the page.
It was a massive list of financial records, and the issues practically jumped off the page.
“Ever heard of Everpeak Group?” Heather asked.
Titus glanced at the name and shook his head. “Nope, never heard of it.”
Heather made a mental note of the company and kept scrolling, her expression turning grimmer with every entry she read. When Heather finally scrolled all the way down, to her surprise, there was actually a video file at the end.
Heather took a deep breath, her nerves taut, and clicked play.
“Mr. Lynch, you have to help us! If you turn your back on us now, we’ll have no choice but to end it all!” a man’s voice pleaded desperately.
“Don’t panic. I’ll help you, but you need to give me some time. If I step in right now, it’ll be clear we’re tied together, and that’ Il just get the Lynch Group caught up in this mess. If that happens, there really won’t be anyone left who can help you!” another voice replied.
“So what are we supposed to do now? The authorities are already investigating. Two lives are already lost, Mr. Lynch!” the first man pressed.
“I know! Just give me a minute to think! I need time to figure out a solution!” the second voice snapped.
The first man threatened, “But I don’t have any Successfully unlocked! the one who found that batch of steel for me. I
trusted you, so I used it. Now there are quality, sadas, un fic
dead.
“The authorities are already investigating. If you don’t help me, I’ll have no choice but to drag you down with me!”

The conversation in the video cut off abruptly, but both sisters could clearly recognize the volce as their father, Andrew Lynch.
Heather played the recording back three times, then turned her attention to the two sets of financial statements.
One was legit, the other had been doctored.
The numbers were worlds apart.
Chiara finally broke the silence, her voice trembling. “What does all this mean?”
Heather’s hand moved stiffly as she pulled out the card feader and gripped it tight in her palm, not saying a word.
It was the Lynch Group’s financial records from the year 2000.
Chiara was getting impatient when neither of them spoke, so she grabbed Titus by the arm.
“Say something!” she demanded.
Seeing how desperate she looked, Titus finally answered, “It’s the Lynch Group’s books from 2000.”
“So, does that mean there’s something wrong with these records?” Chiara had never looked at the company’s books before, so there was no way she could spot anything off.
His gaze was deep and unreadable as Titus nodded at her.
“It’s a massive problem. We’re talking about 3 billion dollars,” he said.
“What?” Chiara was genuinely stunned. 3 billion dollars in the year 2000? That was practically an astronomical number!
Titus’s eyes were deep and unreadable, his Adam’s apple moving as he spoke in a low, serious tone.
“From what I know, the Lynch Group officially became one of the top ten companies in Halinston in the second half of 2000,” he said.
Chiara was completely floored. She wasn’t clueless. She understood exactly what he was implying.
The Lynch Group’s fortune was built on that 3 billion dollars back in 2000, but now it looked like those numbers were seriously shady, and might’ve even cost lives.
“No way! That’s impossible! My parents aren’t like that!” Chiara protested.
Titus didn’t say a word to refute her. If this card and its secrets ever leaked out, the Lynch Group might be finished…
Titus looked over at Heather, who sat motionless in front of the computer, not moving an inch.
After what felt like forever, she finally got to her feet, her face rigid and her movements stiff.
“Everpeak Group,” she said, her voice flat.
Titus’s eyes were deep and unreadable as he nodded at her. “I’ll have someone look into it.”
Heather clenched the card reader tightly in her hand. Chiara stared at her sister’s tightly clenched fist.
Titus glanced down. “How do you want to handle this?”
Heather’s grip only tightened. “We’ll decide after we get to the bottom of it.”,
Titus nodded, his gaze deep and serious. “Keep it safe. If this ever gets out, you know the consequences.”
Heather’s face was blank, her tone cold, almost harsh. “I know.”
