Chapter 220 My Heart Just Melts
Chapter 220 My Heart Just Melts
For the first time, Chiara felt truly caught in a real bind. No matter how tough things had been before, there was always a way out.
She gripped her phone tightly, staring at their family photo.
A deep sense of helplessness washed over her.
She’d already given up the Lynch Group. All she wanted was for Heather to be happy, to have an easier life.
There came a soft *knock, knock* at the door.
She looked up as Titus walked in, holding a cup of warm milk.
He set the milk down by her side and glanced at the family photo.
“This is where you found the memory card?” Titus asked.
Chiara nodded. “Yeah…”
Titus shifted his gaze from the photo to her. “Honestly, something this important should’ve been kept somewhere safer, somewhere more private. Why hide it behind a family photo?”
Chiara looked up at him. “What are you getting at?”
Titus picked up the photo, flipping it over in his hands. “Why didn’t you guys ever find it before?”
Chiara hesitated for a moment before saying, “After our parents died, I just couldn’t face it. I was running away from everything. Heather was busy keeping the company afloat. After she got married, she hardly ever came home, so…”
“So that’s why you guys missed it?” Titus said.
Chiara nodded softly.
Titus respectfully placed the family photo back where it belonged, his gaze lingering on it for a few seconds before he spoke.
“Did it ever cross your mind that maybe your dad hid something so important here because he wanted to make it easier for you to find?” Titus asked.
Chiara’s thoughts were all over the place, and his words only made her more confused.
She stood up from her chair, locking eyes with him. “What are you really trying to say? Just spit it out. Stop beating around the bush.”
Titus shifted his gaze away from her face, letting it settle on the family photo. His eyes were deep and impossible to read.
“I need some time,” he said.
Chiara locked her eyes on him, her fists unconsciously tightening. Then she glanced at the family photo, following his gaze.
“If you fight against Kason, who will win?” Chiara asked.
Titus looked at her. “Here in Halinston, he doesn’t stand a chance against me.”
Chiara’s eyes flickered, and just as she was about to say something, Titus spoke up again, his tone calm and measured.
“Don’t forget, as long as the contract is still in effect, he’s still the CEO of Lynch Group. He already owns more shares than you and Heather combined. Since he can’t move his overseas assets here, he can only use Lynch Group to fight me,” Titus said, a trace of disdain in his voice.
Chiara had been holding onto a glimmer of hope, but the moment she heard that, she understood exactly what he meant.
Titus could take on Kason, but Lynch Group stands in the way.
Titus gave a faint, almost mocking smile, a hint of coldness in his eyes.
“He’s using Lynch Group as a shield, knowing I won’t really make a move against him,” Titus said.
Chiara bit her lip. “That’s pretty sly of him.”
Titus tapped the table, motioning for her to drink the milk. “That’s how businessmen always play.”
“Drink up. Ryan wanted me to bring it to you,” Titus added.
Hearing that, Chiara finally picked up the milk and slowly started Underco
“As for what’s going on between him and Heati
Chiara finished her milk and looked at him.

“Just don’t get involved for now.”
“Why? Are you seriously going to let them go through with this marriage? They don’t even care about each other. They even hate each other! How could Heather ever find happiness in a marriage like that?” Chiara protested.
Titus looked at her, his eyes deep and unreadable. “Are you really so sure that after two years together, there’s absolutely nothing between them?”
Chiara frowned. “What do you mean?”
“You don’t really know Kason, but I’ve seen what he’s capable of overseas. He’s toned it down a lot since he joined Lynch Group, but make no mistake. He’s a tough guy. If he really wanted to do something to Heather or Lynch Group. He could’ve destroyed them without anyone ever knowing. But he didn’t,” Titus said.
Chiara seemed to get what he was saying. “So you’re saying Kason doesn’t want to marry Heather just to get back at her or hurt her? Are you saying he actually has feelings for her?”
But even so, Chiara still found it hard to believe.
“It’s not impossible.”
Titus fixed her with an intense, tender gaze, his voice low and sincere as he spoke each word.
“A man can have a million reasons to say no to a woman, but if he wants to marry her, there’s only one real reason,” Titus said.
Chiara’s gaze dropped, unable to meet his eyes.
“What reason?” she asked.
“Because he wants it with all his heart,” Titus said, moving to stand right in front of her.
Chiara’s gaze wavered as she tried to step back, but Titus caught her by the waist, pulling her in close.
She pressed her hands against his chest, looking up at him.
“What are you doing? Let go of me!” she demanded.
Titus looked down at her, his eyes dark as midnight, but somehow she could see her own reflection in them.
“When a man wants to marry a woman, it means one thing. He’s got feelings for her, and they run deep,” Titus said.
Chiara opened her mouth to argue, but Titus cut her off before she could say anything.
“Just like you and me,” he said.
Chiara pressed her lips together, caught off guard but with a mocking look on her face.
Titus’s eyes were deep and shadowed as he reached out and took her hand.
“Chiara, before I met you, women were never something I lacked. If anything, there have been even more since you came into my life,” Titus said with a wry smile.
Chiara’s expression grew even colder, her eyes icy as she stared at him.
“So what, are you bragging about how much women want you?” she shot back.
Titus shook his head, then placed her hand right over his heart.
“But I can resist all that temptation. Honestly, I don’t even care about the women who come knocking at my door,” he said.
Those words made her mind flash back to all those memories, and her face grew even colder.
