When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 226

Chapter 226 Just Another Mission

Chapter 226 Just Another Mission

When Titus got home, he saw Chiara sitting alone on the couch, lost in her own world.

He walked over and sat down next to her, but she was so absorbed she didn’t even notice him.

Rather than calling her name, he gently tapped her shoulder, careful not to startle her.

Chiara snapped out of her daze when she felt a hand on her shoulder, then turned to look at him.

Once she realized it was Titus, she took a quick look around the villa.

“Where’s Ryan?” she asked.

“Next door,” Titus replied.

He’d heard Ryan’s laughter in the yard when he arrived.

Chiara pressed her lips together. “Heather moved out.”

Titus glanced at her and asked, “Why don’t you and Ryan move next door?”

Chiara shot him a look, a teasing smile playing at her lips. “What are you scheming?”

Titus grinned back. “Just wishful thinking.”

Chiara’s earlier gloomy mood was starting to lift because of him, so she shifted away from him a bit.

Titus draped his arm over the back of the couch, looking totally relaxed and at ease.

“Or maybe I should just move in with you and Ryan,” he suggested.

Chiara’s brows furrowed as she gave him a sidelong, frosty glance.

“Just keep those thoughts to yourself,” she said coolly.

Titus grinned. “Come on, let’s go.”

“Where?” Chiara asked.

“Next door,” Titus replied.

Chiara was about to fire back at him when he lazily added, “Lindsay said we’re eating next door tonight. Dinner’s already

done.”

Chiara had to bite back her words, but she still shot him a cold look before walking off.

Titus glanced at her and asked, “Did you put away what Heather gave you?”

Chiara paused, then turned to face him. “It’s all taken care of. Only I know where it is.”

Titus just nodded and got up.

“Just making sure it’s safe.”

They headed next door together.

As soon as they stepped into the yard, they heard Ryan’s cheerful laughter/

Hearing Ryan’s laughter finally helped ease the heavy, oppressive feeling that had been weighing on Chiara.

Titus watched as her face relaxed a little. His Adam’s apple moved subtly, and his gaze gradually darkened.

Ever since they hooked up again, he just couldn’t help himself around her.

Suddenly, Titus grabbed Chiara’s wrist. She turned around, not sure what was going on.

“What now?” she asked.

Titus stared at her, his eyes dark and intense. “Are you in your ovulation period lately?”

Chiara just stared at him, lost for words.

She hesitated for a while, her lips moving slightly before she finally gave a slow nod.

It was true. She was in her ovulation period. Honestly, it’s pretty easy to keep track of that.

Seeing her lost in thought, Titus pulled her right in front of him, his voice dropping low.

“So, should we take the herbal medicine tonight?” he asked.

Chiara hadn’t forgotten what needed to be dor Successfully unlocked!er in the background, she thought for a few seconds before nodding.

“Sure,” she replied.

Titus raised an eyebrow, grinning. “Okay.”

Even though it was just one word, Chiara could hear the upbeat tone in his voice. She pulled her hand free and kept walking. determined to bring him back down to earth.

“It’s just a mission. What’s there to be so happy about?” she tossed over her shoulder.

Titus watched her walk away, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

Honestly, with all the drama between Kason and Heather, he and Chiara hadn’t gotten close in days. No wonder he was in such a good mood.

He’d been on a dry spell for days. Now that things were heating up again, who wouldn’t be excited?

After dinner, Ana took Ryan back to her place, while Chiara grabbed the herbal medicine and went next door to prepare it.

Every time she cooked it up, Ryan would shout about how bad it stank.

So she figured she might as well just make it next door.

Lindsay finished cleaning up the dishes and noticed someone brewing herbal medicine. The smell was pretty pungent, so she wiped her hands on her apron and asked, “Mrs. Goodman, what kind of medicine are you making?”

Heather simply replied, “It’s for fertility and nourishing the body.”

Lindsay, having been through it herself, wasn’t unaware of what the two of them did upstairs every night.

Whenever things got wild up there, she was the one who had to go upstairs and clean up the mess afterward.

“Let me handle the medicine. The smell’s pretty strong,” Lindsay said.

Chiara nodded and let Lindsay take over.

Lindsay had helped her make herbal medicine plenty of times before.

Back when Chiara used to get those awful period cramps, Lindsay was always the one cooking up the herbal medicine for her.

“Hey, Mrs. Goodman, do you still have trouble with those cramps?” Lindsay asked.

Chiara shook her head. “After I had Ryan, it’s pretty much gone now. I just get a little uncomfortable. My back’s sore and my stomach feels a bit bloated, but it doesn’t really hurt anymore.”

Lindsay turned to her with a grin. “I always told Mr. Goodman, having a baby is a surefire way to fix those cramps. And you didn’t have to wait long before Ryan came along, huh?”

Chiara turned to her, surprised. “Really? It cures cramps?”

Lindsay nodded. “Yep! Wasn’t that the whole reason Mr. Goodman wanted a baby, to help with your cramps? Luckily it worked, or you’d have been in for a rough time.”

Chiara had always thought having Ryan was just a happy accident.

Even though she and Titus were on good terms back then, they barely spent any real time together.

But somehow, with just a handful of chances, she ended up pregnant with Ryan.

It turned out that it was not an accident. He’d been aiming for that from the start.

Getting Ryan had been so smooth, so why was it so tricky this time around?

“Having a baby is really all about destiny. If it happens, that’s the special bond between mother and child. If it doesn’t, it just means the timing’s not right yet, so there’s no need to stress. Back when you had Ryan, you weren’t even trying, right? That’

s fate for you. Sometimes you plant a seed without meaning to, and it grows into something wonderful.”

Once the herbal medicine was ready, Lindsay poured it out and noticed there was quite a lot.

“Are you saving this bowl for tomorrow?” she asked.

Chiara shook her head. “This one’s for him.”

Lindsay blinked in surprise. “Mr. Goodman’s drinking it too?”

“That’s what the herbal medicine expert said. If both of us drink it, it’ll work faster,” Chiara explained.

Lindsay burst out laughing.

Chiara asked, curious, “What’s so funny?”

Lindsay shook her head. “I’ve never seen Mr. Goodman drink herbal medicine before.”

“What’s so weird about that?” Chiara asked, confused. ‘Everyone gets sick now and then. it’s totally normal to take medicine, isn’t it?’

Chapter 226 Just Another Mission

“Mr. Goodman never takes medicine. If he’s really down for the count, he’ll just have a doctor come over and hook him up to an IV at home. I remember, it was the first year after you left…”

“One night, he came home super late. We were all already asleep. I didn’t even know he was back until I heard some noise outside and woke up. When I went out to check, I saw him sprawled on the couch, smelling like a distillery.”

“I tried to wake him up and get him to his room, but when I got closer, his face was so pale, and he was clutching his stomach, looking absolutely miserable. I got worried something was seriously wrong, so I called Paul…”

“Paul showed up and took him straight to the hospital. I was so worried, so I went with them. The doctor said it was a stomach bleed. All because of the drinking. Man, can you imagine how much he had to drink to end up with a stomach bleed?”

“The doctor said it was pretty bad, so he had to stay in the hospital for IV treatment. But the next day, Mr. Goodman insisted on leaving. Paul and I couldn’t change his mind, so I had no choice but to call his mother.”

Lindsay kept chatting away, while Chiara just stared at the steaming bowl of medicine, listening quietly. Her expression stayed calm, not giving anything away.

“When his mother showed up and saw Mr. Goodman, she didn’t even say a word. just slapped him right across the face. I was so shocked.” Lindsay said.

Chapter 227 The Laundry Never Ends

“His mother looked really upset back then. She pointed at Mr. Goodman’s face and snapped…”

“Who are you pretending to be all sentimental for? Who’s even watching? Are you really going to wreck your body like this? Is there anyone you haven’t let down except Chiara?”

“Mr. Goodman didn’t say a word. He quietly stayed in the hospital for three days before finally asking to leave. The doctor prescribed a bunch of meds, but I never saw him take any. Probably all expired by now. So we had no choice but to get the doctor to come over and hook him up to an IV every day for about ten days.”

Chiara just listened in silence, but Lindsay turned to her and said, “Mrs. Goodman…”
