Chapter 227 The Laundry Never Ends She really doubted that.
“Are you sure?” Chiara asked.
Lindsay was about to say more when a low, almost teasing voice interrupted them from the hallway. It was Titus. “If you’re that curious, why not just ask me yourself?” Titus’s voice was calm, but there was a hint of amusement. Lindsay nearly jumped out of her skin, stumbling back a few steps and pressing a hand to her chest as she shot Titus a startled look.
Chiara’s chest tightened for no reason. Not out of fear, though.
It was that feeling of secretly talking bad about someone behind their back, only to be caught red-handed by the person themselves.
Chiara bit her lip, and when she caught Titus fixing her with that intense gaze, she quickly looked away.
Lindsay cleared her throat awkwardly. “Oh no, I totally forgot about the laundry! Look at me, I’m all scatterbrained today…”
With that excuse, she hurried out, leaving Chiara and Titus alone in the kitchen.
Neither of them spoke right away.
Since Chiara had been the one talking about him behind his back, she cleared her throat and tried to play it cool.
“We were just talking, that’s all,” she said.
Titus finally walked into the kitchen, stood where Lindsay had been a moment ago, and looked right at Chiara.
“If you want to know, you could just ask me yourself,” he said.
Chiara frowned. ‘What does he mean I want to know? I never even cared to know, she thought.
She looked at him, unimpressed. “I don’t want to know. That’s your business.”
“Then why’d you ask Lindsay?” Titus shot back.
Chiara just stared at him, lost for words.
‘Wait, was I really the one asking?’
Chiara almost tried to explain herself but ended up just swallowing her words.
Fed up, Chiara just grabbed the bowl of medicine and downed it in one go.
She’d gotten kind of used to the bitterness by now, but still, it was nasty as ever. She couldn’t help but frown.
“I’ll wait for you upstairs,” Chiara said.
With that, she turned to leave, but Titus grabbed her wrist and pressed her back against the counter.
Chiara shot him a wary look. “What are you doing?”
Titus trapped her between his arms, his gaze never leaving her face for even a moment.
“It’s real. We’re actually together,” Titus said, his voice low.
Chiara tensed up for just a moment, but her expression didn’t change at all.
“Yeah, I know. So what?” she shot back, her voice cool.
Titus’s eyes grew darker at her indifference, and with deliberate slowness, he leaned in, shrinking the space between them.
Chiara kept leaning back, clearly uncomfortable, but she wasn’t going to make it easy for him.
“If you’ve got something to say, just say it. Is getting this close the only way you know how to talk?”
With that, she tried to push him away, but he caught her wrist in a firm grip.
“Titus, if you’ve got something to say, just say it. Don’t get handsy,” Chiara snapped.
“We’re sharing a bed tonight anyway. What’s the big deal about holding hands?” Titus shot back, his tone teasing.
“Just shut up!” Chiara snapped, trying to shove him away, but he was like a rock. didn’t budge an inch.
“What exactly do you want?” Chiara shot back.
Titus tightened his grip on her wrist, his eyes locked on hers as he said in a low, serious voice, “I never even laid a finger on her. Not even a kiss.”
Chiara’s gaze shot to him, startled.
Titus leaned in, so close she could feel his breath. “I told you the truth. I never lied to you.”
Chiara pressed her lips together, staring him for a few seconds before finally speaking in a calm, steady voice.

“I don’t care, and I don’t want to know. You don’t owe me any explanations. We’re only doing this for Ryan, and I hope you get that. So just let me go.”
“I told you before. You’re the only woman I’ve ever had in my life,” Titus said, his voice low and full of emotion.
