Chapter 236 Patch Up A Broken Mirror

Chapter 236 Patch Up A Broken Mirror

After a full day of fun, Ryan was both excited and exhausted.

He fell asleep in Adele’s arms almost as soon as they got in the car.

But Adele still asked, “Chiara, aren’t you coming back with us?”

Chiara felt a little awkward, but before she could find a good excuse, Titus jumped in to cover for her.

“She’s heading to Lynch Group, I’ll drop her off. So I won’t be picking up Ryan tonight,” Titus said.

Adele was happy with the arrangement, but she couldn’t help glancing at the two of them again.

These two weren’t close at all. It was obvious they were intentionally keeping their distance.

“Alright, we’ll head out then,” Adele said.

Chiara nodded softly, giving Ryan, who was fast asleep, a quick look. “Take care on the way.”

Adele nodded. “Don’t worry, we’re heading out.”

Chiara watched the car disappear down the road before finally turning to Titus.

Titus looked at her. “Shall we?”

Chiara didn’t say a word but just walked over to his car.

Titus raised an eyebrow. After they got in the car, seeing Chiara quietly looking out the window without saying a word, he decided to bring it up himself.

“About what we talked about last night…”

Chiara immediately turned to him, giving him a warning look, clearly telling him to drop it.

Titus tapped the steering wheel casually, arching his brow slightly.

“I was just wondering if you’ve talked to a doctor about it?” he asked.

Chiara turned her head back to the window. She had actually called that old traditional medicine doctor this morning.

The old doctor was crystal clear. She could drink the herbal remedy every day, and it wouldn’t do her any harm.

But as for that, it was definitely not something they should do daily.

Too much would only take a toll on their health, and it just wouldn’t be as good anymore.

Chiara was so embarrassed she couldn’t even get a word out.

It was not about how many times they did it. It was all about the quality.

If it was good once, that was all they needed. If it was bad, doing it a hundred times wouldn’t help.

Chiara obviously wasn’t about to answer him directly, so she shot back with a question of her own.

“Then why did you invite me to the hot spring resort?” she asked.

Titus raised an eyebrow again, his look unreadable.

His look made Chiara uncomfortable all over, and she frowned.

“Spit it out,” she said.

“You sure you won’t get mad if I do?” Titus asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Go ahead,” Chiara replied, though she doubted it’d be anything good.

“I just wanted to take you there to help you unwind,” Titus said, shooting her a sideways glance with a hint of a smile.

“Nothing else, I swear,” Titus said, almost too casually.

Chiara’s brows furrowed hard. ‘Wait, did I just totally misread him?’ she thought.

She bit back her words for a second, then snapped, “Stop the car. I’m getting out!”

Titus didn’t even slow down. “What, you pissed at me now?” he asked.

Chiara just stared at him, stone-faced, refusing to answer.

“Wilbert called me yesterday and said there are some herbal hot springs that are supposed to be amazing. I just wanted to take you there to help you relax. Haven’t you be

Of course she was tired. She was running on fun, honesty it was going hard to keep up.

But for Ryan, she’d push through, no matter what.

“I remember you used to be really…” Titus started.

Chiara seemed to know exactly what he was about to say. She shot him a glare. “Either shut up and drive, or pull over and let me out.”

Titus saw she was pissed, gave a faint smirk, and didn’t say another word.

They drove for over an hour, and by the time they reached the secluded resort, dusk was already settling in.

Still, the mountain view was something else. Chiara pushed open the car door and stepped out, instantly catching sight of the last golden rays of sunset.

The scene was breathtaking. The afterglow had turned half the sky a fiery red.

She stood there for a long moment, lost in the view, before someone finally spoke up.

Vera called out with a smile, “Hey, you guys are finally here!”

Chiara turned around and saw Vera, arm in arm with Wilbert, standing at the entrance to the resort. Vera spotted her and gave a friendly wave.

Chiara nodded back in greeting.

Vera grinned, “Chiara, you’re here! But where’s my favorite little nephew Ryan? Why didn’t you two bring him along?”

Titus replied, “He played all day and was totally wiped out, so he went home to rest. We’ll bring him over next time so you guys can see him.”

Wilbert studied Titus for a moment, then clicked his tongue. “Look at you, being a dad really does make a difference.”

Vera gave Titus a quick once-over. She used to have a crush on him, but now, she didn’t feel anything special anymore.

“Different how?” Vera asked.

Wilbert jerked his chin at Titus. “Come on, you seriously can’t see that proud dad look on his face?”

Vera just looked confused. “Nope, not seeing it.”

Wilbert rolled his eyes. “That’s because you’re blind!”

Vera shot him a glare. “Are you trying to get yourself killed?”

Wilbert let out a dramatic sigh. “Can you at least pretend to respect me in public?”

“Do you even deserve it?” Vera shot back.

“I…” Wilbert stammered.

Titus gave them a flat look. “If you two want to argue, save it for home.”

Wilbert went quiet and shot Chiara an awkward smile.

“Chiara, I’ve got a few natural hot spring pools here. You have to try them later. I swear they’ll work wonders,” Wilbert said.

Chiara nodded. “Thanks.”

“Come on, let’s not just stand in the doorway. Let’s head inside,” Wilbert said. Just as he finished, the roar of an engine sounded behind them.

They all turned to see Jeffrey pulling up in a sports car, with a young, pretty girl hopping out of the passenger seat.

“Hey everyone, I’m Cotton,” the girl said with a bright smile.

Chiara glanced at Jeffrey and gave him a nod.

Jeffrey shot her a quick grin, then motioned for his girlfriend to join him and strolled over together.

He glanced at the group, raising an eyebrow. “What, you guys were all waiting for me?”

Vera just shrugged, but Wilbert didn’t cut him any slack.

“Do you think you’re the emperor or something? You really think we’d wait for you?” Wilbert shot back.

Jeffrey smirked at his girlfriend, pulling her close. “Shall we, my lady?”

The girl blushed and playfully punched his shoulder. “Why am I not the empress?”

Jeffrey just raised an eyebrow and kept quiet, while Wilbert let out a cold laugh.

“Girl, your emperor’s got a palace full of concubines, but no queen in the main hall,” Wilbert joked.
