Chapter 237 Parading Around In A Bikini

Titus looked away first and walked through the gate. Wilbert gave Jeffrey a covert glare.

“What the hell are you two up to?” Wilbert asked.

Jeffrey raised an eyebrow and scoffed. “Why didn’t you ask him just now? You only pick on the easy targets, huh?”

‘Yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking, Wilbert admitted to himself. ‘Between the two, I just went for the more approachable one.’

He gave Jeffrey a meaningful look. “Oh? So you’re actually admitting you’re the soft one?”

Jeffrey let out a mocking laugh and turned to the girl clinging to his arm.

“Come on, baby, tell Mr. Clark do you think I’m soft?” he teased.

The girl’s cheeks flushed as she shyly gave his shoulder a gentle punch.

“You’re so bad!” she pouted.

Wilbert rolled his eyes. “Alright, alright, I’m going in.”

“Babe, can we go in too?” the girl asked.

Jeffrey pinched her cute cheek with a playful smirk.

“You really want to soak in the hot springs with me? Are you asking for trouble?” he teased.

The girl’s face turned bright red, but she was clearly excited, so she nodded eagerly.

Her straightforwardness made Jeffrey laugh, and with a playful grin, he wrapped his arm around her and led her into the

resort.

Vera handed Chiara a new bikini. “This should be your size.”

Chiara took it. “Thanks.”

But when she unfolded it, she was speechless.

“Isn’t this a bit too revealing?” Chiara asked Vera.

Vera gave her a casual, slightly surprised look, her eyes flicking from the bikini in Chiara’s hand to her figure.

“What’s so revealing about it? Come on, with a figure like yours, what are you even worried about?” Vera teased.

As she spoke, Vera couldn’t resist poking Chiara’s stomach out of curiosity. “Isn’t it supposed to be that women always lose their shape after having kids? Seriously, you don’t look like you’ve ever been through childbirth at all.”

Chiara blinked at Vera, thinking to herself that Vera seemed different now than when they’d first met.

Vera caught Chiara staring and flashed her a playful smile. “What is it? Do you think I’ve changed?”

Chiara thought for a second, then nodded. “Maybe a little.”

Vera crossed her arms and leaned against the closet door, grinning. “What am I more chill now? Or just more full of energy?”

Chiara’s eyes sparkled briefly, and she nodded.

“Yeah, I think so,” Chiara said.

Back when they first met, Chiara had seen Vera as the ultimate boss lady, smart, confident, and always in control.

But now, Vera seemed a lot more lively and full of energy.

‘Guess that’s what she meant by being more down-to-earth, Chiara mused to herself.

Vera grinned at her. “You probably noticed I used to have a thing for Mr. Goodman, right?”

Chiara nodded, a little surprised by the sudden topic.

“Were you curious when you saw me with Wilbert?” Vera asked

Chiara tied her hair up and shook her head. “Not really, just kind of surprised.”

“Yeah, I used to have a crush on Mr. Goodman. But when I found out you two were already married, I wasn’t exactly heartbroken, just kind of disappointed.

“Alcohol really gets you into trouble. Normally, if we’d just talked it out, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But Wilbert was just unlucky. My dad walked in on us,” Vera continued.

Chiara raised an eyebrow at her.

“I mean, I always saw Wilbert as a friend, so I couldn’t let him take the fall. If I’d told my dad it was just a drunken mistake, he would’ve gone ballistic. So I lied and said we’d been dating all along, just to save his skin, Vera explained.

“So you guys ended up for real?” Chiara asked.

Vera glanced up at the ceiling light. “Pretty much. After the first time, it just got easier. I found I actually felt really comfortable and happy around him, so I suggested maybe we should try actually dating for real.”

“He was up for it, so we’ve been together almost a year now, and we got engaged a couple months back,” Vera said.

Vera turned to her and said, “You meet all kinds of people in life. Sometimes it’s that love at first sight, the butterflies and excitement. But most people end up going for something different.”

“What kind of choice?” Chiara asked.

“It’s about finding someone you feel totally comfortable with, someone you never get tired of. That kind of compatibility lasts way longer than just a crush.

“I’ve had relationships before, three months, six months, you name it. But when the spark dies down, it just gets dull. With Wilbert, though, I feel so at ease, and I honestly just love being with him,” Vera explained.

Chiara nodded. “Sounds about right.”

Vera added, “Honestly, you and Titus seem to have that kind of vibe.”

Chiara was caught off guard, and she had to fight back a laugh.

“How did you figure that out?” Chiara asked.

“Like I said, it’s just a feeling. You always act kind of distant with him, but there’s something between you two. I noticed it the very first day I saw you together. I just had the wrong guy pegged at first,” Vera said.

“What do you mean you got the wrong idea about who was with who?” Chiara asked.

“Titus and Jeffrey!” Vera replied.

“Mr. Yates?” Chiara echoed.

Vera nodded. “The first time I saw you all together, I thought you were secretly dating Mr. Yates. But then I noticed Titus couldn’t stop looking at you, so I figured he was the one interested. Turns out I totally mixed up who was into who.”

Chiara just pressed her lips together. “I barely know Mr. Yates, We’ve hardly even met.”

Vera raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Seriously?”

Chiara hung up her clothes and closed the closet door, nodding. “Honestly, I’ve probably seen him less than you have.”

Back then, she was never really part of Titus’s circle anyway.
