Chapter 246 Coaxing The Little Lady
Chapter 246 Coaxing The Little Lady
The outcome was so far off from what he’d expected that he didn’t even nod in agreement right away.
She looked at the girl curled up in the corner, head down and silent, and for the first time, she was at a loss for what to do But his rational side told him he should just agree immediately. That was the best way to solve things.
All he wanted was the child.
If this one turned out to be a boy, he wouldn’t have to worry about marriage or having kids ever again. He wouldn’t need to marry just for the sake of having children or keeping a wife at home.
For him, there was nothing but upside.
But when he caught sight of the girl’s pitiful, helpless gaze, he just couldn’t bring himself to say “yes.”
She timidly tugged at her parents’ sleeves. “Mom, Dad, I’ll do whatever you say, but I really don’t want to go abroad. Can’t we just move to another city instead? Please, I don’t want to go overseas. I really don’t like it there…”
“No! You have to go abroad!” her parents said firmly.
Seeing that her parents’ minds were made up, the girl didn’t dare say another word. She just sobbed silently, looking as pitiful as could be.
Eric sat on their couch, staring at the living room wall lined with awards and the couple’s trophies for outstanding teaching. Suddenly, he understood why they felt compelled to leave Halinston and move overseas.
It was all about reputation and keeping up appearances.
As teachers and parents, they wanted to minimize the damage.
Even though it was an accident, it was still his fault. There was no reason their whole family should be forced to leave their home in Halinston and go abroad.
So that day, he kept silent. He just came over to pick her up and get her checked out at the hospital.
The girl did as she was told, sitting quietly in his car, just gazing out the window, lost in thought.
It wasn’t until they got to the hospital that the girl finally found the nerve to talk to him.
“I don’t want to leave here. We can move somewhere far away, but please, I just don’t want to go overseas…” the girl said softly.
Eric glanced over at her. She was so nervous, her breathing was shaky and uneven.
Her belly was only just beginning to show, and he remembered everything that happened that night.
He knew exactly how much she’d suffered.
That was the look, scared, but still hoping he’d help her.
Eric’s gaze grew serious as he tightened his grip on the steering wheel. He looked at her and asked, “You really don’t want to go abroad?”
The girl froze for a second, then her eyes lit up with hope. She nodded hard.
“I don’t want to. Can I really stay here?” she asked, her voice shaky with hope.
He gave a light laugh. “Of course.”
“Really? For real?” The girl looked at him hopefully, but worry still lingered on her face. “But what about my mom and dad…”
“I’ll take care of it. So, have you picked out which city you want to move to?” Eric asked.
Even if the whole family really had to leave Halinston, he wasn’t about to just let them walk away empty-handed.
He’d set them up with a new home and make sure they got proper compensation.
He wasn’t about to be cheap about it. After all, the girl had spent the night with him and was carrying his child now.
The girl’s face lit up with joy. She pulled out her phone, found a photo, and showed it to Eric.
“Can I go here first?” she asked, her voice brimming with hope.
Eric glanced at her phone and saw it was packed with news and posts about Southend.

He couldn’t help but chuckle for a moment. He
“You can,” Eric replied gently.

“Thank you!” she exclaimed.
He couldn’t help but think, ‘What is she thanking me for? For sleeping with her, knocking her up, and making her drop out of school to have a kid when she’s just a teenager?’
Maybe he’d been staring at her for too long, because Nancy started to get nervous. She mustered up her courage and nervously tugged at his shirt.
Eric raised an eyebrow at how uneasy she was getting, then, right in front of her parents, tilted her chin up and kissed her on the lips.
Eunice gasped and looked over at her parents.
Her parents froze for a second, then awkwardly looked away.
“Ahem…”
Nancy ducked away from his kiss, then hid her face against his shoulder.
She was just like a little kitten, seeking comfort in his arms.
Eunice couldn’t hold back anymore and blurted out, “So, are you two actually going to get married or not?”
Nancy clutched Eric’s shirt tightly. Eric gave her a gentle look, ruffled her hair, and said, “We’ll get the marriage license tomorrow. The wedding can wait until after she has the baby.”
“We’ll get the marriage license tomorrow. The wedding can wait until after she has the baby.”
Eunice’s eyes went wide in disbelief as she stared at the two of them.
Her gaze was locked on the girl snuggled up in Eric’s arms.
‘Is she really that different depending on who she’s with? When she was talking to me, she was so dead set against it, kept saying there’s no way she’d ever go back and get married. So why is she suddenly changing her tune now? Do girls really change their minds this quickly these days?’ Eunice thought, baffled.
The Murphy parents, on the other hand, were absolutely delighted. The more they saw Nancy, the more they liked her.
To them, having a sweet, well-behaved daughter-in-law was way better than bringing home some spoiled heiress.
“That’s wonderful! This is a great thing. Nancy, from now on, we’re all family,” Eric’s mother her said warmly.
Nancy turned to the Murphy couple and nodded softly.
“Mm,” she murmured.
Eric couldn’t help but chuckle as he looked at the girl in his arms. She was just so sweet and obedient.
He’d never met anyone like her before.
All his past girlfriends and hookups had been smart, beautiful, elegant, and confident.
But a girl this young and naive? He’d never met anyone like her before.
Eunice was still staring at the two of them, utterly confused.
No matter how she looked at it, they liked a big bad wolf and a little white rabbit.
And not just any rabbit. The rabbit was as naive as they came, and the wolf was as sly as they got.
