Chapter 251
Chapter 251
The store manager tried to hand Heather a wool shawl, but Kason stopped him.
Heather thought Kason wanted her to leave like this. She glanced outside and frowned.
‘It’s so cold out there. I might catch a cold,’ she thought.
As she was thinking this, she suddenly felt a weight settle on her shoulders.
She looked down and saw it was Kason’s suit jacket.
She looked up and met his gaze. Kason arched his brow slightly.
“What are you staring at? Do I look like the kind of guy who doesn’t know how to treat a lady?” he said.
Heather kept her mouth shut. With Kason, she thought it was best to say as little as possible.
But she still pulled the jacket tighter around herself. Otherwise, she’d be the one catching a cold.
“Let’s go,” Kason said.
Heather glanced at her hand in Kason’s grip, then quickly shifted her gaze away.
Once they were in the car, Heather didn’t say a word. She didn’t even bother to ask where he was taking her.
Kason kept sneaking glances at her, but she just stared out the window, refusing to look his way.
He tapped his slender index finger on the steering wheel, then spoke in a cool, almost distant tone.
“Some friends from Mieashy heard about my marriage and flew in just to congratulate us. So later, try not to make me look bad, alright?”
Heather finally turned to look at him.
“What’s there to congratulate us on?” she asked.
Kason narrowed his eyes and let out a low chuckle. “Why not? I married you, didn’t I? They’re dying to meet you. Otherwise, why would they fly halfway across the world just to see you?”
Heather turned her head away, not bothering to look at him. She just stated the facts in a flat tone.
“Then I guess I’ll have to disappoint them,” she said.
“Disappoint them?” Kason glanced at the red light ahead, then reached over and gripped the back of her neck, turning her to face him.
Heather frowned. It felt weird having someone grab her like that.
“Mrs. Goodman, just so we’re clear. If you embarrass me tonight,..” Kason said.
Heather just stared at him, her expression calm. “And what exactly are you going to do about it?”
“Then I’ll just have to make you pay for it. You’ll find out soon enough,” Kason replied.
With that, he leaned in close, his breath warm against her ear as he spoke in a low, ambiguous tone.
“It’ll be something you’ve never felt before. Curious to find out?”

Chapter 251
He’s definitely saying this just to intimidate me. But with him, even a threat is real. Even if he’s just trying to scare me, be always means it. Just like he did on the island last time. Heather thought.
Heather never forgot Kason grew up in Micashy.
She asked, “So what exactly counts as embarrassing you?”
Kason traced his thumb lightly along the back of her neck. “That depends on how you behave.”
Heather knew he was just giving her a hard time, maybe even hoping she’d embarrass herself. But she just said calmly.
“Alright, I get it. Can you let go of me now?”
Kason traced his thumb along the back of her neck, her skin so smooth and soft he couldn’t help but linger.
But he pulled his hand back and tried to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, only for it to slip free almost immediately. Her hair was just too short.
He gave a barely noticeable frown. “You look gorgeous with short hair, but I liked you better with it long. Let it grow out for
me.”
Heather didn’t bat an eye, just kept her gaze on the road ahead.
“Long or short, that’s my call. Even if you’re my husband, you don’t get a say in that, do you?”
Kason just smirked. “Yeah, you’re right, it’s your choice. But I still prefer when your long hair is cascading down your back. sticking to your skin from sweat…”
Heather knew exactly what he meant. She couldn’t help but blush, shutting her eyes and turning away.
Kason’s lips curled into a half-smile, a teasing glint in his eyes.
As soon as they stepped out of the car, Heather glanced at the upscale lounge ahead, only to feel Kason’s arm slide smoothly around her waist.
Heather followed Kason to a private suite. Even before the door opened, the sound of guys and girls laughing and joking around spilled out from inside.
Heather instinctively frowned.
Kason glanced down at her and lightly tapped her brow with his finger.
“Cheer up, Mrs. Goodman. You’re the star tonight,” he said.
I’m the star?’ Heather wondered, not buying it for a second.
She just tugged at the corner of her mouth, giving a noncommittal response.
The next second, Kason pushed open the door to the private suite.
Just as Heather had guessed, the spacious room was filled with at least a dozen people, and the air was thick with smoke.
Heather had always been sensitive to cigarette smoke, ever since she was a kid. Her dad even quit smoking for her, and Marcus would always sneak out for a smoke before coming back in.
There was no way she could hold back her coughs.
She instinctively turned away, covering her mouth and nose as she tried to stifle a cough.

Chapter 251
Kason frowned too. After two years together, he knew all about Heather’s quirks.
To be fair, she’d built up some tolerance over the years. After all, in the business world, almost everyone smoked or drank.
But the haze in this suite was just overwhelming.
Heather instinctively tried to turn and leave, but Kason caught her wrist, then quickly moved to flip on the suite’s ventilation
system.
Honestly, even Kason hadn’t been in a scene this smoky for ages. He was already feeling the sting in his throat, so Heather must’ve been struggling even more.
Once the air started to clear, he shot Heather a look, and she met his gaze, barely able to hold back her discomfort.
The haze was so thick it made her gag, and she felt like she might actually throw up.
Noticing that, Kason hurriedly opened the door and let her stand right at the entrance for some fresh air.
That got everyone in the room staring their way.
“Man, Kason, I missed you! Get over here and let me give you a hug…” the blond guy called out, coming over with open
arms.
But the moment he saw Heather standing next to Kason, he stopped dead in his tracks, staring at her like he’d just seen a ghost.
“Hey, Kason, is this your wife?” he blurted out.
Kason shot his friend a look. “Are you guys planning to cook dinner in here or just burn the place down?”
“What do you mean?” The guy blinked, not getting it at first.
But when he saw Heather covering her mouth and nose, he finally caught on.
He turned to the others and called out in Eldravian, “Hey, you idiots, kill the smokes, will ya?”
That vent made a huge difference. Should’ve flipped it on earlier, we wouldn’t be choking now.
With the door open too, the smoke cleared out fast.
Only then did Kason finally lead Heather into the suite.
“Here in Halinston, the fire safety system is no joke. If I’d shown up any later, you guys would’ve triggered the sprinklers and flooded the whole place,” Kason teased.
But clearly, none of them cared about that. All eyes were glued to Heather.
“Hey, gorgeous, you must be Heather, Kason’s new wife, right?” one of them called out.
Heather gave them a slight nod, greeting them in fluent Eldraviați.
Heather flashed a friendly smile. “Hello, I’m Heather,” she introduced herself.
There were five guests in total, and three were foreigners.
One of the guests grinned and said, “Ms. Lynch, we’ve heard so much about you!”
Heather replied graciously, “Oh, I’m flattered. Welcome to Halinston.”

Chapter 251
Another guest waved her over enthusiastically. “Coine on, have a seat! We’re honestly super curious about you.”
“Totally! Before we came, we were all wondering what kind of woman could actually handle Kason, the wildest player of us all,” someone joked.
Kason threw a playful punch at the guy. “Hey, if you don’t know how to use a word, don’t just toss it around Player’ is for creeps like you lot, not me. Don’t lump me in with your crowd.”
Heather watched as the girls at the lounge took their seats.
“Kason, the girls here are really something. When we leave, can you set us up with a couple of these beauties to take home?” one of the guys joked.
Heather couldn’t help but frown at that, shooting Kason a look.
Kason glanced at her, raising an eyebrow in a casual, nonchalant way.
“Careful what you say. This isn’t Mieashy. Trafficking is illegal here. You can enjoy yourselves, but you can’t take them with you, unless they’re willing to go on their own,” he said.
