When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 258

Chapter 258

Chapter 258

Chiara shared a lot of parenting tips with Nancy, and Nancy listened intently.

It was obvious how much she cared about the baby growing inside her.

Chiara thought Nancy was adorable. Nancy was still just a girl herself, yet she was about to become a mother.

Eunice took a short video and sent it to Eric.

Time always seemed to fly when girls were hanging out together.

Eunice yawned, but the other two were still totally engrossed, deep in animated conversation.

She shook her head.

‘Is this just how moms are? All that motherly love spilling over?’ she wondered. ‘How do they have so much to say when it’s their first time meeting?’

Eunice glanced at the clock. It was almost nine. She was just about to say they should head home when her phone buzzed.

“Hey, Mom?” Eunice picked up.

“Yeah, we’re still at Chiara’s place. Those two hit it off right away, and they’ve been swapping baby stories nonstop. I know, I know, I’ll get Nancy home soon, don’t worry. Alright, I’m hanging up now. Bye,” Eunice said.

Just as she hung up with Helen, her phone rang again. It was Eric.

“What’s up?” Eunice answered.

“Grab your stuff and come out. I’m waiting outside,” Eric said.

“Outside? Where exactly?”

“Where do you think I am?”

Eunice got up from the couch, walked over to the door, and glanced outside. Sure enough, she saw a car parked out front with its headlights on.

“Why are you here?” Eunice asked.

“I’m here to pick you guys up. Hurry up and come out.”

With that, Eric hung up.

Eunice pursed her lips, turned back to the couch, and had no choice but to interrupt the conversation between Chiara and Nancy.

“Nancy, Eric is here to pick us up. He’s waiting outside. It’s getting late, so we should get going,” Eunice said.

Nancy’s face lit up as soon as she heard Eric was here to pick her up.

“Is he here?” Nancy asked.

“Yeah, he’s waiting outside. Let’s head home, okay?” Eunice said.

Nancy nodded, then turned to Chiara. “Chiara, we’ll get going now.”

Chiara smiled and nodded. “Okay, come by and hang out whenever you have time

Nancy gave Chiara a gentle wave.

Chiara walked them out of the yard and all the way to the gate.

When Eric saw Chiara, he got out of the car and gave her a gentle smile.

“Chiara,” he greeted.

Chiara smiled back. “Eric, long time no see. You’re still the same as ever.”

To be honest, after she got married, Chiara hardly ever saw Eric anymore. They only bumped into each other once in a blue

moon.

She hadn’t seen him at all since coming back, so today was actually the first time they’d crossed paths.

Eric looked her up and down, nodded, then turned his attention to Nancy, beckoning her.

Nancy glanced at the two of them, then walked over.

Eric took her hand and rested his palm on her belly. “Did you enjoy yourself?”

Nancy looked up at him, smiling and nodding. “Yeah, Chiara is super sweet. She gave me lots of advice about babies.”

Eric’s lips curled into a gentle smile as he softly ruffled her hair.

“Eric, do you want to come in for a bit?” Chiara asked.

“It’s getting late. Maybe another time. Is Ryan already asleep?” Eric replied.

Ryan was probably still up, and just then, there was a sound behind Chiara.

She turned to see Titus standing in the yard, holding Ryan in his arms.

“Mommy,” Ryan called out.

Chiara waved him over. “Ryan, come here.”

Titus set Ryan down, and Ryan ran straight over to her.

Chiara scooped Ryan up into her arms. “Come on, Ryan, say hi to Uncle Eric.”

With only Eric there, Ryan fixed his gaze right on him.

“Hi, Uncle Eric,” Ryan said softly.

Eric raised an eyebrow, noticing just how much Ryan resembled Titus. With a smile, he reached out and scooped Ryan up into his arms.

“Hey there, Ryan,” Eric said.

Eunice, watching from the side, couldn’t help but tease, “Eric, you didn’t come empty-handed, did you?”

Eric gave her a sidelong glance. “Nancy.”

“Huh?” Nancy responded.

“There’s an envelope for Ryan in the car. Go grab it,” Eric said.

Nancy nodded sweetly. “Okay.”

Sure enough, it was an envelope. Eunice snatched it up and looked at it. “Why’s it so thin?”

“That’s for Ryan. Hands off,” Eric said.

“I’m Ryan’s godmom. What’s wrong with me checking on his behalf?” Eunice said, opening it up. Inside was a check for 300 thousand dollars. “Whoa, 300 thousand dollars? Now we’re talking.”

With that, Eunice handed the envelope to Ryan. “Here you go, Ryan. This is a generous gift from Uncle Eric. Hold on to it.”

Ryan had gotten plenty of gifts since coming back to Halinston, so he accepted it naturally, without needing Chiara to prompt him.

“Thank you, Uncle Eric,” Ryan said.

Eric ruffled Ryan’s hair, then caught sight of the sweet, quiet Nancy standing nearby. His gaze lingered on her baby bump.

‘A few months later, I’ll have a son as lovable as Ryan, Eric thought to himself.

Eric handed Ryan back to Chiara, then turned his attention to Titus standing behind her.

“Mr. Goodman,” Eric greeted.

Titus nodded in acknowledgment. “Mr. Murphy.”

Their businesses were in different industries, so they weren’t especially close, but they’d still run into each other at events now and then.

Titus glanced at the check in Ryan’s hand. “Thanks for the generous gift, Mr. Murphy.”

Eric raised an eyebrow. “It’s the least I could do. I should’ve made it up to Chiara and Ryan a long time ago.”

Titus gave Eric a cool look. “It’s getting late. Take care on your way home, Mr. Murphy, Mrs. Murphy.”

That obvious send-off made Chiara and Eunice shoot each other a look.

‘Did these two have some kind of beef or something?’ Chiara wondered.

Eric smirked, then pulled Nancy closer and held her hand tight.

Nancy was meeting Titus for the first time, and she couldn’t help but keep stealing glances at him.

“Chiara, we’ll get going now,” Eric said.

Chiara nodded. “Alright, Eric. Drive safe.”

Eunice and Nancy gave Chiara a wave, then hopped into the car.
