Chapter 260
His words set Heather off. Normally, no matter how he mocked or taunted her, she could just brush it off.
But she couldn’t stand him cracking jokes or throwing shade about her dead parents.
She finally snapped and raised her hand.
Kason just gave her a cold glance. “Lost your cool and want to hit me now?”
Heather’s hand stopped mid-air, then slowly curled into a fist. “Kason, could you at least have some decency when it comes to the dead?”
Kason scoffed and jerked her chin up forcefully. “What, you think your family’s the only one who’s lost someone?”
Heather’s brows furrowed as he jerked her chin up, stretching her neck. It hurt a little.
“I know. That’s exactly why I’d never stoop that low,” Heather shot back.
“Or is it because deep down, you know you don’t even deserve to mention them?” Kason shot back, glancing at the lounge door before pulling out his phone and dialing a number.
“Push it back an hour,” he said, then hung up without another word.
Heather sensed the sudden shift in his mood. She tried to break free, but Kason just scooped her up in his arms.
He was heading straight for her lounge.
She knew all too well what he had in mind.
But this was the office, and he just kept messing with her, putting her through hell again and again.
“Kason, is roughing me up all you know?”
Kason’s expression turned icy. He kicked open the lounge door, flipped her around, and pinned her hard against it.
One hand gripped her neck, while the other yanked open her blouse collar.
In the next second, buttons went flying, scattering across the floor.
“You’ll find out soon enough,” he said.
Heather had no idea how she managed to survive what came next.
As she drifted in and out, his mocking words echoed in her ears. “If the living can’t even celebrate their birthdays in peace, then the dead sure as hell don’t deserve it.”
Heather bit down hard on her lip, staring up at the ceiling.
Suddenly, what Robyn had told her on the island came rushing back to her.
Robyn had said that the day Orson had his accident was Kason’s birthday.
Her vision blurred as she closed her eyes, putting up with all the ways he tried to break her.
When Kason stepped out of the office, he bumped right into Robyn. Just one look at him, and she could tell exactly what had happened in there.

She couldn’t take it anymore. She roughly grabbed his arm and snapped in a low voice, “Are you out of your mind Tins is the office. Can’t you wait until you get home?”
Kason just straightened his collar, looking completely unfazed. “I couldn’t wait. She was asking for it
Robyn’s jaw clenched as she glared at him, then she smacked his arm aside in disgust. “If you keep indulging like this, you’re going to screw yourself into an early grave.”
Kason and Heather had only been married for a little over two months. And already, he’d been caught in more than a dozen tabloid scandals.
Maybe he was doing it on purpose to humiliate Heather.
But Robyn knew him too well. Even if he was just putting on a show, there was no way he’d actually keep his hands to himself. If he really hadn’t done anything, that just wouldn’t be him.
Kason let out a low chuckle. “Don’t worry, I’m not even close to burning out.”
Robyn glared at him. “You’re such a lunatic.”
Kason raised an eyebrow. “Are you here to find Heather?”
Robyn shot a look at the scratches on his neck and scoffed, “Serves you right.” And as she walked past, she gave him a hard shoulder before heading into Heather’s office.
Charlotte stole a quick glance at Kason, then ducked her head.
But Kason walked over to her desk and knocked on it.
Charlotte sprang to her feet, startled. “M-Mr. Bradford, is there something you need?”
“Did you buy those condoms in Heather’s office?” Kason asked.
Charlotte’s face went beet red. “Y-Yes, Ms. Lynch told me to.”
Kason raised an eyebrow and smirked. “You bought them too small.”
Charlotte’s neck turned crimson red. She apologized, “I-I’m sorry, I just grabbed whatever was on the shelf. I-I’ll be more
careful next time.”
“Yeah, make sure you do. Otherwise, Ms. Lynch’s the one who pays for your mistake,” Kason said.
Charlotte nodded like crazy, her head bobbing nonstop. “Alright, Mr. Bradford, I promise I won’t forget.”
Kason smirked. “Get back to work, Ms. Booker.”
Charlotte kept nodding until Kason finally left, then collapsed into her chair, totally spent.
She clutched her chest, feeling her heart race, and turned to gaze at the office door, a little dazed.
‘Why would someone as wonderful as Ms. Lynch choose to marry Mr. Bradford?’ she thought.
At first, everyone was genuinely happy for them, thinking they were a power couple who’d take Lynch Group to new heights. But then Kason’s scandal after scandal started piling up.
So no one could figure out why Heather would make such a decision.
Some folks said Heather only married Kason for the shares he held in Lynch Group.

Some even speculated that Kason was out to buy up Lynch Group from the start because he was the biggest shareholder
now.
They figured Heather tied the knot with him just to stop the company from getting snatched up by outsiders.
Lynch Group would never change hands as long as they stayed married, no matter how wild Kason got out there,
Once she was done with her shower, Heather tidied up the lounge on her own.
She’d find it humiliating if anyone else came in and saw the mess.
“Heather?” Robyn called out.
Heather turned around when she heard Robyn, then tossed the trash into the bin.
Robyn gave her a look, noticing her hair was still damp.
Robyn hesitated, “You guys…”
Heather slowly stood up, turned, and walked into the bathroom. After washing her hands, she came back out.
“Today’s my mom’s birthday. I wanted to go back to the Lynch residence, but he wouldn’t let me,” Heather said.
Robyn was taken aback, not sure what to say.
Heather glanced at her and asked, “You think I shouldn’t go home either?”
Robyn didn’t know what to say. If she were in Heather’s shoes, going home was the obvious choice.
But looking at it from Kason’s perspective, it was no wonder he’d be mad.
After a few seconds of silence, Robyn finally said, “Ever since Orson passed away, Kason hasn’t celebrated his birthday.”
Heather’s face stayed blank. “So, I’m supposed to just go along with whatever he wants?”
Robyn frowned as she looked at Heather. “Your mom took her own life less than three days after Orson’s funeral.”
Heather’s hands curled into fists as she heard that.
Finally, she shut her eyes. “I understand what you mean.”
Robyn’s brows drew together. “I just don’t want you to set him off. It’s not going to help you. Even if you skip going back to the Lynch residence tonight, Mrs. Goodman will still celebrate your mom’s birthday.
“I just think there’s no need to poke the bear. Sometimes, he can go totally off the rails.”
Heather stared at her in silence for a long time before finally asking, “So, where do you stand now?”
Robyn was left speechless by Heather’s question. She looked at Heather for a few seconds before finally replying, “I’m on the side of what’s right. Your parents might’ve made mistakes, but you didn’t.”
Heather just looked at Robyn, saying nothing. Robyn held her gize for a moment before turning and walking away.
Later that night, when Chiara called, the first thing Heather said was, “Sorry, Chiara, I can’t make it over tonight.”
Chiara was silent for a long time before finally asking, “Is it because of Kason?”
Heather didn’t deny it. She just stayed quiet.

Chiara didn’t blame her at all. She just said. “It’s okay, just take care of what you need to. Birthdays come every year. This one’s not a big deal. We’ll have plenty of chances to celebrate together in the future.
Heather hung up, turning to gaze out the window, her expression empty and forlorn. It was the first time she’d ever missed her mom’s birthday.
She felt crushed inside. The heaviness was almost stifling.
Kason suddenly gripped the back of her head, forcing her to face him. “Who’s that face for?”
