Chapter 264
Chapter 264
Heather shot him a cold glare, the hatred in her eyes unmistakable.
After fixing his gaze on her for a few seconds, Kason fastened her seatbelt for her.
Neither of them said another word. Heather just turned to stare out the window in silence.
When the car finally stopped, Heather pushed open the door and walked straight into the villa.
Greta saw Heather’s grim expression and didn’t greet her. She watched Heather disappear up the stairs, then turned to look toward the entrance.
Kason walked in, carrying his coat. Greta finally asked, “Did you two fight again?”
Kason glanced up at the second floor. “Is dinner ready?”
“Yeah, I made it. You two haven’t eaten yet? Do you want me to cook up a couple more dishes?”
“No, just make some chowder.”
“Chowder this late at night?”
“Yeah.”
Greta had no idea why he wanted chowder so late, but she nodded anyway. “Alright.”
“Make the kind of chowder women like.”
Greta finally understood. So it wasn’t for Kason, but for Heather.
“Got it.”
Heather went straight to her room, locked the door, and headed straight for the bathroom. She rinsed herself off from head to toe, then immediately started brushing her teeth.
The toothpaste stung her wounds, but she just ignored it and kept scrubbing.
She didn’t want to think about what happened just now.
She’d barely eaten anything all day, so there was nothing for her to throw up.
But Heather kept jamming the toothbrush against the back of her tongue, trying to make herself gag and throw up.
She kept gagging until tears were streaming down her cheeks and her eyes were bloodshot.
Her stomach was still in knots, so she kept rinsing her mouth again and again.
She didn’t stop until that musky, sickening taste was gone, and all that was left was the clean, minty flavor of toothpaste.
Kason twisted the doorknob, but it was locked tight. Heather had clearly bolted herself in.
He knocked on the door, his voice cold and stern. “Heather, open the door. I’m telling you one more time, open up.”
Still, there was no response from inside.
Kason glanced at Mabel and said in a low voice, “Go to the study and get the spare key.”

Mabel nodded and headed straight for the study.
She quickly found the key and handed it to Kason.
Then she hurried downstairs, not daring to stick around on the second floor.
Kason unlocked the door and walked in. Heather was nowhere to be seen, so he glanced toward the bathroom.
Sure enough, the sound of running water echoed from inside.
He closed the door behind him and entered the room.
Just as Kason glanced at his watch for the third time and was about to head to the bathroom, the water finally shut off.
A few minutes later, Heather finally emerged from the bathroom. Her hair was still wet, she was wrapped in a bathrobe, and her eyes and face were flushed.
Kason just stared at her in silence.
Heather completely ignored his presence. She walked over to the closet, picked out her pajamas, and turned on her heel to leave.
“Where are you going?” Kason asked.
Heather didn’t even pause and continued to ignore him.
Kason didn’t say another word. He just watched her leave the room with her pajamas, his gaze cold and silent.
Once she stepped out, Heather closed her eyes for a moment, pursed her lips, and made her way to the guest room.
Back in the guest room, Heather sat down on the bed. Her eyes were even redder and became misty.
But she didn’t shed any more tears, except for those involuntary ones from earlier
She lay back on the bed. The room was dim, with no lights on, but a faint glow from outside managed to keep it from being completely swallowed by darkness.
“Mom, happy birthday. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there to celebrate with you today. I promise I’ll make it up to you later,” Heather whispered.
After saying that, she raised her hand to cover her eyes.
After a few minutes, she finally picked up her phone and found the WhatsApp contact she had added just now.
She pressed the voice message button and sent a voice message.
“Hello, Mrs. Ross. This is Heather. I have a relative who went missing years ago after an accident. I’ve been searching for him for a long time, but I still haven’t found any trace.
“I was hoping your stepson could use his connections to see if he could dig up any clues about my relative leaving the country. I’ll send you his personal information in a bit.”
Cecilia didn’t reply, but Heather still went ahead and sent over Chase’s old photos and his information.
After that, Heather sent over the video she’d secretly recorded at the door earlier.
The video was a bit blurry, but the conversation was crystal clear.
Sure enough, less than a minute after she sent the video, Cecilia replied: [Mrs. Bradford, don’t worry. I’ll do everything I can

to help you. Just wait for my update.]
Heather texted: [Alright, Mrs. Ross, thanks. But I really hope you can be quick about it.]
Cecilia texted: [Sure, absolutely.]
After sending the message, Heather put her phone down. She changed into her pajamas and was just about to lie down when someone knocked on the door.
“Mrs. Bradford, are you in there?”
Heather glanced at the door but didn’t say anything. She just pulled the covers over herself, turned away, and tried to rest.
“Mrs. Bradford? Mrs. Bradford, it’s late, and you haven’t eaten. I made some food. Would you like to come downstairs and have a little?”
Heather finally spoke up.
“Thanks, I’m not hungry. You all should get some rest.” With that, she pulled the blanket over her head, blocking out any sound or conversation.
Greta knocked a few more times, then tried to open the door, but it was locked from the inside.
Kason, wearing a bathrobe and clearly just out of the shower, opened his bedroom door and glanced at Greta, then at the guest room door, which was firmly closed.
He didn’t say a word, but just walked over. Just as he was about to open the door, Greta spoke up. “It’s locked from the inside.”
Kason frowned, and this time he went himself to fetch the spare key from the study, then let himself into the room.
Seeing this, Greta turned and headed downstairs.
Heather heard the door open. This was her villa, and she knew he had a key to every single room in this place.
She just clutched the blanket tighter over her head.
But the next second, the blanket was suddenly ripped away from her.
Heather kept her eyes closed, her wet hair plastered to her face.
Kason saw she was about to sleep with her hair still wet and grabbed her arm, hauling her upright from the bed.
Only when he pulled her up did Heather open her eyes and glare at him, “What are you doing? Let go of me. I want to rest. Let go.”
Kason stared at her red and swollen eyes and recalled the toothbrush he’d found tossed in the bathroom trash. He was quiet for a few seconds, then said in a low and firm voice, “Have dinner before you go to sleep.”
Heather had no appetite right now.
“No need. Let me go.”
She tried to pry his fingers off with her other hand, but his grip was so tight she couldn’t loosen him, not even a little.
All she could do was glare up at him, her eyes furious but defeated, cold and full of disgust.
“Kason, what else do you want from me?”
Kason just stared at her and said, “Eat.”

Chapter 264
Heather’s chest heaved with frustration. He’d just forced her to eat what he wanted, and now he was pushing her to have dinner?
That empty feeling in her stomach was the only thing that made her feel remotely okay. There was no way she wanted to put anything else in her mouth right now.
“Go to hell, Kason! Get lost!”
