When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 272

Chapter 272

Chapter 272

“Does Grandma know?” Chiara asked.

Adele let out a sigh, her eyes misting over. “No, I wouldn’t dare let your grandma find out,” Adele replied.

“Please, don’t let her know,” Chiara said softly.

Adele gently patted her shoulder, her heart aching for her. “Don’t worry, we’re keeping it from her.”

Titus had just taken a slap from Mr. Goodman, and Paul didn’t dare step in. After all, a father disciplining his son was just the way things went; no one would dare say anything.

Jeffrey shot Titus a glance and offered him a cigarette. Titus glanced at him, took the cigarette, but deliberately kept his distance from Chiara, making sure not to get too close.

Smoke slowly curled up, shrouding his face. His eyes were cold and sinister, his features sharp and chiseled as if carved from stone, not a trace of emotion showing.

His thin lips pressed into a hard line, his jaw cold and razor-sharp. He stood there in silence, like an iceberg, a frosty aura radiating from him.

“I’ll make sure they’re sent far away, so you won’t have to deal with them,” Jeffrey said.

Titus just kept smoking, not saying a word. Seeing Titus so quiet, Jeffrey didn’t bother to say anything else. He could tell Titus wasn’t up for talking right now.

But as the minutes dragged on, darkness settled in. Still, there was no word from the police. No clues, no updates.

Chiara broke down in tears, sobbing, “Ryan will be so scared if he can’t find me. He’ll be crying… He must be terrified right now, calling for me…”

Charlie and Adele felt their hearts twisted with worry at her words. Everyone’s faces were etched with pain and worry.

“Oh, my poor Ryan…” Adele cried out, her voice thick with worry and heartbreak.

The police chief, who knew the family well, tried to comfort them. “From what I’ve seen, your boy isn’t in any immediate danger. The kidnappers probably have some other agenda.

“It’s already late, so you should go home and wait for news from us. And if you get a call from them, make sure to let us know right away.”

Charlie nodded. “Thanks for everything today.”

“Don’t mention it, Mr. Goodman. It’s just our job,” the chief replied.

Titus squatted down in front of Chiara, took her hand in his, and spoke softly, “Let’s go home, okay?”

Chiara didn’t react at all; she was drowning in guilt and anguish. She kept thinking it was all her fault that Ryan was in trouble.

“No, I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying right here… Chiara choked out, her voice shaking as tears welled up in her eyes. Adele frowned, then softly urged her. “Chiara, let’s go home. Waiting here won’t do any good…”

The chief stepped in, “Ms. Lynch, I really think you should go home and wait. I’m pretty sure the kidnapper will reach out to

you.

Chapter 272

“If this were just about some personal grudge, she wouldn’t go to all this trouble just to take your boy. She’ll definitely contact you to talk terms.”

Chiara finally looked up at him, her voice shaky. “Really?”

“Ms. Lynch, trust me, I’ve seen a lot of cases like this. If things go as I expect, you’ll hear from them tonight or tomorrow, We need to have our people ready to trace the call, and it’s just not possible to do that here,” the chief explained.

Chiara’s gaze wavered, and she finally nodded, agreeing to head home and wait for news. Titus tried to hold her hand, but she dodged him, refusing to even look his way.

Adele let out a weary sigh and gently supported Chiara as they left. Charlie fixed his son with a cold stare. “Has your grandpa ever taught you to leave loose ends behind?”

Titus only looked at Charlie after watching Adele help Chiara into the car. “Weren’t you the one who always said to leave some room, not to push things too far?”

“I… You…” Charlie hesitated, knowing he really had said that to Titus before

That was back when Titus first took over the company. He was ruthless and relentless, cleaning house and wiping out the old employees, even sending some straight to prison.

approach had been far too extreme, and it could have easily backfired. One should always leave some wiggle room, since circumstances and people could change.

Even if someone crossed the company, the consequences were real. It didn’t matter if it was his own company or someone else’s; if Titus set his sights on something, he’d do whatever it took to get it.

Back then, one aggressive takeover put Titus on the map; everyone in the business world knew his name overnight. He was bold, ruthless, and didn’t pull any punches; deadly and never left loose ends.

Charlie always thought Titus was way too intense and aggressive. He’d warned him to know when to back off and not push things to the limit. But now, Titus was using those very words against him.

“I meant for you to use that in business, not on women!” Charlie snapped.

Seeing how things were going, Paul finally worked up the nerve to speak up for Titus. “Mr. Goodman, Lena used to be the company’s secretary…” Paul ventured.

Charlie glared at him. Paul ducked his head, instantly shutting up.

Charlie’s face was stormy as he jabbed a finger at Titus. “I’m giving you one night. You’re supposed to be the big shot, right? Then go find my grandson. If you can’t, let’s see how you’ll face your grandma!”

After Charlie left, Paul glanced at Titus. “Mr. Goodman, should we head back now?”

Titus’s eyes were unreadable. “Yeah.”

Paul shot Jeffrey a look, gave him a nod, then turned and walked away. After everyone had left, Jeffrey still went ahead and

made a call.

“It’s me. I want you to report Elaine’s status to me every hour,” he ordered.

The person on the other end did not fully understand, but agreed all the same. With money, the authorities came, and ordinary people could not afford to go against it.

When they got home, Ana and Lindsay were pacing anxiously, unable to sit still. When they heard Ryan still hadn’t been found, their eyes brimmed with tears.

Chapter 272

Heather came home and saw Ryan’s things scattered everywhere. Her eyes burned and felt swollen with unshed tears “Chiara… Heather called out softly.

Adele was just as worried about Ryan, her heart heavy with worry and sorrow. After Heather settled onto the couch, she took out her phone and placed it on the coffee table.

After a pause, she asked, “Where is he?”

“You mean Titus?” Adele clarified.

Chiara nodded. “Where’s his phone?”

“Don’t worry, he’ll be back soon,” Adele reassured her softly.

Just then, Titus walked in, and Adele waved him over. “Chiara’s calling you,” Adele said.

Titus looked a bit surprised, quickened his pace, and walked over to Chiara. In a low voice, he asked, “You looking for me?”

Heather didn’t say anything, just kept her eyes fixed on his pocket. “Your phone,” she said, her voice tight.

Titus hesitated for a moment, then finally pulled out his phone and placed it next to hers on the table.

Chiara didn’t want anything else, just his phone. As soon as he set it down, she stared at the two phones on the coffee table. her gaze never wavering, as if waiting for them to ring at any second.

Adele let out a weary sigh and turned to Ana. “Could you make some noodles? They haven’t had anything to eat,” she said.

Ana wiped her eyes and nodded. “Alright, I’ll go make some now.”

But when Ana brought out the noodles, Chiara just shook her head. She couldn’t bring herself to eat anything. She just couldn’t imagine what Ryan was going through right now.

She wondered whether he was cold, whether he was hungry, and whether that crazy Lena was mistreating her son. She couldn’t even let herself think about it; every time she did, her heart felt like it was breaking apart.
