When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 281

Chapter 281

Kason grabbed her phone and tucked it into his pocket, then leaned over and lifted Heather off the couch.

Ana and Lindsay couldn’t help but exchange a look.

“Mr. Bradford, dinner’s ready. Why don’t you stay and eat before you go?” Ana asked.

Kason wasn’t about to stick around for dinner at the Lynch residence, so he shot down the offer without a second thought.

“No, thanks. I’m taking her home now,” he said.

Seeing he wasn’t going to change his mind, Ana and Lindsay didn’t insist.

Instead, they opened the door, carried Heather’s coat and bag, and saw the two of them out to the front door.

Kason settled Heather into the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, then, shapping out of his thoughts, took the coat and bag from Lindsay.

But even with all that, Heather didn’t wake up. It wasn’t until the car had been on the road for a while that she slowly came

She opened her eyes, a bit confused as she watched the blurry scenery rush past outside the window.

“You’re awake. You slept so soundly that I thought you were going to nap the whole way,” Kason said.

When she heard Kason’s voice, Heather turned and realized she was in his car.

She glanced down at the coat draped over her and put two and two together about what had happened.

But she thought, ‘How did I end up being moved into the car?

‘Lindsay and Ana obviously couldn’t have carried me, let alone managed it so smoothly that I slept through the whole thing.

‘So…

“Did you carry me all the way from the Lynch residence to your car?” she asked.

Kason kept his eyes on the road, his face giving nothing away at her question’.

“What, did you sleepwalk your way into the car?” Kason teased.

Heather stared at him for a while, then, no beating around the bush, she asked him straight up, “So you came into our

house?”

Kason raised an eyebrow, his long fingers tapping the steering wheel. He shot her a sideways glance, looking as nonchalant

as ever.

“What else was I supposed to do?” he replied.

“I thought you wouldn’t want to come inside,” Heather said.

“I didn’t want to, but it’s not like I said I couldn’t,” Kason replied.

Heather

gave

him a brief glance, then turned to look out the window.

She wasn’t about to get into a word game with him.

Just then, Heather’s stomach let out a loud growl, as if it hadn’t been fed in days.

She pressed a hand to her belly, and Kason glanced over at her.

For once, a hint of embarrassment flickered across Heather’s usually calm face. She pressed her lips together, staying silent.

Kason raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at his lips, asking, “Hungry?”

Heather nodded honestly. “Yeah, I haven’t eaten anything since last night.”

Honestly, nobody had eaten a thing. After everything that went down, no one had the appetite for it.

“Greta already made dinner. We can dig in as soon as we get home,” Kason said.

Heather shot him a quick look and nodded. “Yeah,” she replied quietly.

Kason didn’t ask about what happened with the kidnapping. He’s never been one to stick his nose where it didn’t belong.

When they got back to the villa, Greta greeted them with a smile. “The soup’s just ready. You two showed up in time for dinner. Go and wash up and come eat.”

Heather nodded. “Okay.”

A bowl of hot soup really hit the spot.

Greta glanced at Kason. She was just about to ask Heather if she wanted another bowl, but he spoke up first, “Get her another bowl.”

Heather didn’t refuse. Greta’s soup was delicious.

Heather didn’t have much of an appetite, so two bowls of soup and a bun were just enough for her.

Kason finished off a bun and a bowl of soup.

Kason watched as she set down her fork and bowl, then wiped her lips.

“Did you get enough to eat?” he asked.

Heather glanced at him and nodded. “Yeah.”

Kason gave a slight nod, then, without warning, got up from his chair, walked over, and pulled her to her feet.

Heather stumbled a little, her brows knitting as she looked at him. “What are you doing?”

But Kason suddenly leaned in close to her ear and murmured something in a low voice, just for her to hear.

“I’m taking you upstairs.”

Heather’s face turned red in a flash. “You…”

But before she could finish her words, he swept her up into his arms.

Greta watched as Heather and Kason rushed upstairs right after dinner and couldn’t help but call out.

“Avoid strenuous exercise for half an hour after eating. It’s not good for your health,” said Greta.

Heather’s face grew hot at Greta’s words.

Kason carried her in his arms, pushed open the bedroom door, and set her down on the bed.

“Didn’t you hear what Greta said? You’re not supposed to move around right after eating, Heather grumbled.

Kason yanked off his tie and shrugged out of his suit jacket, his eyes dark and intense as he stared at her.

“I know,” he replied.

Heather watched as he yanked off his tie and tossed it to the floor, then pulled off his jacket, unbuttoned his shirt, and stripped off his pants.

Instinctively, she scooted back, pressing herself against the headboard.

“What are you doing?” she asked.

“Dessert,” he replied.

“What…”

Before she could finish her words, he grabbed her ankle and yanked her down the bed.

“Kason,” Heather yelled.

“Shh…” he murmured.

Heather’s face fell as she realized what he was up to. “No!”

Kason held her knees down, raising an eyebrow. “Why not? Last time, you looked like you were pretty into it…”

Heather couldn’t take it anymore. She snatched up a pillow and hurled it at him.

“Shut up! Don’t even mention last time.” Heather snapped at him.

Kason pulled the pillow off his face. Heather took the chance to slip out of bed and headed straight for the bathroom while he was distracted.

With a click, she locked the bathroom door from the inside.

Heather lingered in the shower as long as possible, stalling for time. When she finally stepped out and saw the room was empty, she let out a quiet sigh of relief. Thank god he’s gone, she thought.

After a simple skincare routine, she climbed back into bed to rest.

That hour-long nap didn’t help at all, so it wasn’t long before she dozed off again.

When Kason finally came back to the bedroom and saw Heather already knocked out, he was speechless for a second.

He walked over to the bed and saw her lying there, phone still in hand, fast asleep. He’d never come back from a shower to find her asleep before.

Kason leaned down, slipped the phone out of her hand, and glanced at the screen. Turns out, she’d been looking at a stock price chart.

“The woman… She isn’t the least bit sweet or tender. But somehow, she is just addictive, Kason thought, shaking his head.

Kason had to admit it. After a year in bed with her, he still wasn’t tired of it. He’d even blurted out that he wanted to marry

her.

It was just something that slipped out, but her reaction was even bigger than his

‘Doesn’t want to marry me, huh? Well, that just makes me even more determined to marry her, Kason thought, a smirk

tugging at his lips.

Kason turned off her phone and set it on the nightstand. He hesitated for a second, then slipped under the covers and settled in beside Heather.

He glanced at the clock. It was a little past eight.

‘When have I ever gone to bed this early?’ thought Kason.

Just as he was thinking that, his phone buzzed with a message.

His buddies from Mieashy were hitting him up, wanting him to come out and have some fun.

Just as Kason was about to text back, Heather shifted beside him, rolling over in her sleep.

His fingers hovered over the screen as he turned to look at her.

Watching Heather sleep so quietly, Kason couldn’t help but smile as he sent his reply.

[Nope, not going.]

His friend: [Why?]

Kason: [Staying in and sleeping with my wife.]

[Wait, you mean the fun kind of sleeping?] His friend joked.

Kaso: [Unfortunately, not that kind.]

His friend: [Well, as if I’d buy that…]

Kason gave a little scoff, lips curling in a smirk.

He could hardly believe it himself. He, Kason Bradford, home early just to go to bed with his wife?

And it was just sleeping. Who’d buy that?

Kason shut off his phone and tossed it aside. He couldn’t be bothered to do anything tonight. Honestly, turning in early sounded pretty good.

Once he lay down, he reached back to switch off the light and drew Heather close to him.

‘If I can’t do anything else, at least I get to hold her,’ Kason thought, a little amused.

Heather let out a soft, sleepy sound. “Mm…”

Kason paused, looking down at her. She was still out cold, but her brows were drawn tight. He immediately softened up, moving more gently so he wouldn’t disturb her.
