Chapter 282
Chapter 282
Ryan was traumatized by the kidnapping. When he woke up, he started crying uncontrollably, and Chiara tried to comfort him for a long while.
Between sobs, Ryan kept saying he never wanted to go back to kindergarten again.
Chiara felt a stab of pain in her chest as she listened.
Watching her son cry his heart out, for the first time, Chiara felt that death was too light a punishment for Elaine.
After Ryan finally drifted off last night, Chiara listened to the audio recording of the incident.
Chiara could only think of one way to describe Elaine. She was a total lunatic, an absolute psycho.
For an entire week, Ryan clung to Chiara, barely letting her out of sight. Sometimes, he’d suddenly start calling for his dad.
“Daddy… Daddy, I want Daddy… Daddy…” Ryan whimpered between sobs, his voice full of fear.
Every time a nightmare jolted Ryan awake, he’d cry out for his dad. Deep down, Titus was the hero Ryan depended on.
Ana couldn’t stand seeing Ryan cry so much. She said, “Don’t cry, Ryan. I will call your dad right now and ask him to come home, okay?”
Ryan nodded, his face streaked with tears, looking so miserable. His sobs started to quiet down, but he watched Ana anxiously, afraid she might not actually make the call.
Ana glanced at Chiara and said, “Let him come home. At least Ryan can see his dad every day. Ryan needs his dad right
now.”
Chiara knew it was true. She was exhausted after everything that had happened. Finally, she nodded with agreement.
“I’ll call him,” Chiara said.
“Okay,” Ana replied.
Chiara went ahead and called Titus.
Ryan’s kidnapping never leaked out. The police operation from a few days back was just a cover-up. Nobody out there had a clue. There wasn’t a single news report about it.
Titus hadn’t shown up at the office these past few days, claiming he was away on business.
Queenie and Paul dropped off his paperwork at the hotel suite every day.
“Hello?” Titus answered.
“Are you at the hotel?” Chiara asked.
“Yeah, what’s up?” Titus replied.
Before Chiara could respond, Ryan’s sniffling sobs suddenly came through the phone.
“Daddy… I want Daddy… Daddy…” Ryan whimpered between sobs, his voice full of tear.
Hearing Ryan crying for him, Titus instantly froze. “Ryan?”
“Daddy, please come home… I want Daddy… I want Daddy…” Ryan pleaded, his voice cracking with desperation.

Chapter 282
“Don’t cry, Ryan. I’m working right now, but as soon as I’m finished, I’ll come home, alright?” Titus said gently.
“No, Daddy. I want you. Please!” Ryan sobbed, his voice choked with tears.
Seeing Ryan break down even more at the mention of work, Chiara couldn’t take it anymore and spoke into the phone.
“You should come home. Ryan’s been crying and begging for you every day these past few days,” Chiara said.
Titus fell silent.
Chiara knew what he was worried about, so she gently reassured him, “Just be careful around the house, okay? People with HIV can still live their lives. Come home. Ryan needs to see you.”
After a few seconds of silence, Titus finally replied in a low voice, “Alright, I’ll come home tonight.”
“No, Daddy, come home now. Please, Daddy…” Ryan sobbed, his voice trembling with desperation.
Chiara let out a helpless sigh. “Do you have time right now?”
“Yeah, I’ll head home right away.” Titus replied.
“Okay,” Ana replied.
After hanging up, Titus shut his laptop, grabbed his coat and keys, and was about to head out.
Queenie and Paul, who had been sitting on the couch, stood up when they saw him.
“Mr. Goodman?” Queenie asked.
“My son needs me. I have to go,” Titus said.
They stood there frozen for a moment, then exchanged a glance.
Queenie couldn’t help blurting out, “What if Mr. Goodman really did get infected?”
Paul’s face instantly darkened, and he shot her a sharp glare.
“Don’t jinx it! Mr. Goodman’s going to be fine. Don’t say stuff like that,” Paul snapped.
Queenie quickly shut up and smacked herself on the mouth.
“Of course, I don’t want Mr. Goodman to get infected. I’m just saying…” Queenie mumbled.
“Then stop being so curious and get back to work,” Paul snapped.
Ever since Ryan found out Titus was coming home, he’d been glued to the front door, watching and waiting.
As soon as he heard the sound of a car, he shouted, “Daddy’s home,
Chiara gently patted his head and said softly, “Yeah, Daddy’s home.”
“I’m going to go and get Daddy,” Ryan exclaimed.
Heather tried to stop him, but the little guy was too quick. He darted out of the yard before anyone could catch him.
Chiara grabbed her jacket and ran out after him.
“Ryan, slow down. You haven’t even put your clothes on yet,” Chiara called out.

Chapter 282
As soon as Titus stepped out of the car, he spotted Ryan barreling toward him, his little legs working overtime in his rush to get to his dad.
“Daddy,” Ryan shouted.
Titus’s lips curved into a smile as he crouched down and scooped Ryan up into his arms. “Ryan.”
“Daddy…” Ryan whimpered, his voice trembling with emotion.
Ryan clung to Titus, his little arms wrapped tightly around his neck. “Daddy, I missed you so much.”
Titus kissed Ryan on the head and murmured, “Hey, buddy, I missed you, too. Work’s been crazy lately. That’s why I couldn’t come home.”
“No way. You have to come home.” Ryan pouted, stubbornly insisting.
Chiara hurried after them and called out, “Ryan, come here and put your clothes on.”
Titus looked up at her, their eyes locking for a moment. Chiara bit her lip lightly.
From the audio, she could tell that Titus had gotten down on his knees because of Elaine’s threats.
Titus held her gaze for a long moment before standing up with Ryan in his arms, bundling him up in his coat as he walked over to Chiara.
His eyes were gentle as he looked at her. “Let’s go home.”
Chiara’s eyes flickered, but she didn’t say anything. She just nodded and gently stroked Ryan’s little hand.
Ryan was obviously bouncing back, but ever since Titus came home, Chiara found herself getting sidelined. She wasn’t the center of attention anymore.
After all they’d been through, it was clear to Chiara that Titus and Ryan were closer than ever.
Ana saw Chiara standing there, staring at Titus and Ryan on the carpet, and couldn’t help but smile softly to herself.
From an old-timer’s perspective, nothing beat a couple who had been together from the start, especially when they had a kid tying them together.
“Back when Titus was a kid, he was never this close to his dad. Those two were nothing alike. Honestly, I used to think Titus would end up like his father, who was not cut out to be a good dad at all,” Ana said.
But now, Titus didn’t seem like someone with emotional issues at all. It looked like whatever was holding him back wasn’t something he was born with. It was something he picked up along the way.
“I’ll go make dinner.” Chiara offered quietly.
She looked down, said nothing, and turned and headed into the kitchen.
With Titus around, Ryan was in much better spirits, and his mood improved a lot.
Before they knew it, the day for the follow-up tests had arrived.
Fortunately, the blood tests for both Titus and Ryan came back negative.
Because blocking medications were taken in time, the effectiveness rate was as high as 99%.
To make sure the results were accurate, they took several blood samples for separate tests, and all of them came back
negative.

Chapter 282
So the threat of infection was finally lifted.
That result finally let Titus and Chiara breathe easily.
Elaine was taken out by a sniper’s bullet, but Lena still had to face the full force of the law.
Chiara had no words for Lena at this point.
These two were never meant to have anything to do with each other, but Lena’s jealousy and craziness dragged them both into disaster. It was all Lena’s own choice. No one else was to blame
Chiara hadn’t witnessed Elaine die, but when it came to Lena’s judgment, she wasn’t about to miss a thing.
So when the judge sentenced Lena to life in prison and took away her rights for life, Chiara was sitting right there, watching every second, determined not to miss a thing.
“Why do I get life? I only kidnapped a kid. That’s way too much. I was an accomplice. This isn’t fair. I’m appealing. I’m appealing,” Lena screamed, her voice ringing out in the courtroom, desperate and furious.
