When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 295

Chapter 295

Chapter 295

Chiara was momentarily at a loss for words.

She subtly shifted her gaze and said, “Congratulations.”

Nancy gave a shy smile. “Thank you.”

Eric glanced at Chiara and asked, “How’s Mr. Goodman doing now?”

Chiara hadn’t planned on hiding it from Eric, so she shook her head.

Eric raised an eyebrow, thinking it was a bit of a shame. In his eyes, Titus was someone to be reckoned with. Even if they worked in different circles, Eric had to give him that.

Just then, Helen walked over. “Nancy, is my precious grandson awake yet? If he’s up, bring him down quickly. Everyone can’t wait to meet him.”

Nancy glanced at her baby, who was still fast asleep.

“Not yet,” she replied.

“Why’s he sleeping so long today? Maybe he’s hungry. Should we wake him up and give him some milk?” Helen fussed.

Nancy hesitated, shooting a look at Eric. She wasn’t keen on waking the baby up.

The one-month-old baby just ate and slept all day, never causing any trouble.

Eric glanced at Nancy, his young wife, then turned back to his mom.

He said, “I know you want to brag about your grandson, but you gotta wait till he wakes up, right? If anyone’s too impatient, they can head out.”

Helen, totally busted, laughed it off.

“Alright. Nothing matters more than my precious grandson. Let him sleep,” she said fondly.

About half an hour later, the star of the show finally woke up.

Helen and Kendrick carried him around together, parading him through the crowd, their faces lit up with joy.

“That’s it, I’m done for,” Eunice muttered.

“Done for? What are you talking about?” Chiara turned to her, curious.

“I’m saying I’m officially out of the spotlight in this house. Look at my parents. Now that they’ve got a grandson, it’s like I don’t even exist anymore. Can you believe it?” Eunice sighed.

Chiara shook her head with an amused smile. She was about to take a sip of champagne when she noticed Eric and his secretary seemed to be talking about something.

As Eric turned to leave, the secretary unexpectedly reached out and tugged at his sleeve.

Eric gave her a brief, indifferent glance before pulling his arm away.

Chiara’s eyes flickered as she looked away and set her glass down. She glanced over at Nancy, who was standing with Kendrick and Helen.

Chapter 295

Nancy was the picture of a good girl, sweet, well-behaved, and lovable.

All the older folks took her right away.

At first, everyone was caught off guard when Eric suddenly got married.

And the bride wasn’t some heiress or socialite.

But Nancy was so likable, and she even gave birth to a baby boy on her first try.

Her family wasn’t super rich, but they were well-educated. Both her parents were great teachers, so she came from a well- read family. Honestly, she and Eric were a pretty good match.

“You told me before that Eric broke things off with all his exes, right?” Chiara asked.

“Yeah, what’s up?” Eunice replied.

Chiara nodded toward Eric. “I just saw Eric’s secretary tug at his sleeve.”

Eunice blinked. “What?”

She whipped her head around and, sure enough, spotted the secretary.

Eunice’s face instantly darkened. She shot a look at Nancy, who was completely clueless, then clenched her jaw, set her fork down, and muttered through gritted teeth.

“Are they out of their minds? At the office, whatever, but bringing her here today? Are they trying to make sure everyone knows something is going on between them?” Eunice snapped.

Chiara’s suspicions were confirmed. There was definitely something going on between them.

She couldn’t help but glance at Nancy again. Nancy was smiling shyly, her bright, clear eyes full of sincerity and beauty.

“Hang tight. I’ll go and sort this out,” Eunice said, her voice crisp and determined/

Chiara, worried about Eunice’s impulsive streak, tugged her arm and whispered, “Keep it low-key.”

Eunice shot a look at Nancy and nodded. “Relax. I’ve got this.”

Eunice marched over to Eric, hooked her arm through his, and hissed through clenched teeth, asking. “Are you out of your mind? Why did you bring Agnes Thunberg here today of all days?”

Eric shot her a cold look. “She just came to drop off some documents. I didn’t ask her to come.”

“Oh, please. Chiara saw you two getting all handsy just now. What, you want everyone to know you two hooked up? Aren’t you scared Nancy will find out?” Eunice snapped.

Eric glanced over at Chiara, then at Nancy, who was holding Helen’s hand.

“Just shut up, and she’ll never know,” Eric said coolly.

“You!” Eunice was pissed off by how little he cared.

Eunice said, “I told you ages ago to fire her, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. I’m warning you. Nancy’s a sweet girl.

“Don’t go and bully her just because you’re older. If you mess with Nancy, you’ll be dead to me.”

Eric pushed her head away. “Done yet?”

Chapter 295

Eunice snorted and spun around, marching straight up to Agnes with a frosty glare.

“Agnes, are you here to attend my nephew’s one-month-old party?” Eunice asked, her tone icy.

Agnes’s eyes flickered, and she shook her head. “No, I’m just here to drop off some documents for Mr. Murphy.”

“Oh, so dropping off documents means you have to get all handsy with him?” Eunice shot back, her voice dripping with

sarcasm.

“I…” Agnes’s face fell.

Eunice said, “Agnes, my brother’s married now. I don’t need to spell out whatever history you two had, but you should know better than getting involved with a married man, right? Didn’t you graduate from a top university?”

Agnes’s face turned pale, but she clenched her fists and bit her lip, her voice barely above a whisper as she said, “I understand, Ms. Murphy. Don’t worry. I’m leaving.”

“Wait a second,” Eunice called out.

Agnes turned back. “Is there something else, Ms. Murphy?”

“My brother’s married now. Why are you still clinging to him? What, trying to be his mistress?” Eunice snapped, her words biting.

“I’m not…” Agnes’s face went pale as she clenched her fists.

“Not? Please, I’m not blind. If you didn’t want to be around him, why haven’t you quit or asked for a transfer?” Eunice shot back, her tone icy.

‘Quit or transfer? Seriously?’ Agnes scoffed to herself, her mind whirling with frustration.

She’d clawed her way up to this position. There was no way she was going to give up everything she’d fought for.

Agnes always believed she was different from the rest. By day, she was his most trusted secretary. By night, his most devoted

lover.

She thought she’d be the exception, but what did she get in the end?

It was the bombshell that he was suddenly getting married, not to some rich heiress, but to a young nobody.

Agnes knew exactly why Eric was marrying Nancy. It was all because Nancy/got pregnant.

She’d seen Nancy around a few times this past year, but she couldn’t picture Eric ever being into such an innocent girl.

Agnes was convinced it was just a shotgun wedding for the sake of the baby. There was no real love between them.

Yeah, she knew Eric treated his wife well, but to her, that was only because she held the title of Mrs. Murphy.

“Eunice…” Nancy called out softly.

At the sound of Nancy’s voice, Eunice’s face

“Hey, what’s up?” Eunice asked, her tone gentle.

Nancy finally noticed Agnes and spec Eunice shot Agnes a look, subvel

ly softened as she turned around.

a gentle smile. “Agnes, you’re here. Why don’t you come in?”

y signaling her to make herself scarce before any drama started.

Agnes wasn’t stupid. She knew better than to stir up trouble right now. She’d always been good at keeping a low profile.
