When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 298

Chapter 298

Chapter 298

Chiara blinked. “You care about that, too?”

Titus wanted to say he’d never cared about his looks, but he knew women liked him not just for his money. His face played a big part, too.

“Do you care?” he asked.

Chiara was silent for a few seconds, then gently pushed his hand aside. She gave him a thoughtful look before finally speaking, “Why don’t you take a look in the mirror yourself?”

Then, she sat up, turned her back to Titus, and began picking up her clothes from the floor, putting them on piece by piece.

“I’ll go make you some chowder,” she said.

With that, she headed for the door. Just as her hand touched the doorknob, she turned back to glance at him.

Titus was watching her, too. “What’s up?”

Chiara looked at him and said, “Go and get dressed and come out. Ryan really misses you.”

At the mention of his son, Titus’s eyes softened, a gentle warmth flickering in them. He nodded.

“Okay,” Titus replied.

Chiara had been a little worried he might not be feeling well after he’d just woken up, but after everything that just happened between them, she realized she’d been worrying for nothing.

After they exchanged a glance, Chiara walked out of the room.

Titus watched the door close slowly, then pulled back the covers and glanced down at his legs.

They were thin and weak.

Adele was in the kitchen, discussing what to cook for dinner tonight with Ana. When she heard someone coming, she turned around.

Chiara caught Adele’s gaze and felt a little awkward herself.

Chiara called out, “Adele.”

‘Being caught in bed like that… Talk about embarrassment, Chiara thought to herself.

But Adele just smiled and asked, “Where’s Titus? How’s he doing?”

Chiara nodded. “He’s doing fine.”

Adele smiled and patted her hand, her eyes slightly misty.

“Thank you, Chiara. I know it’s been tough on you lately,” Adele said.

Just then, Debby came downstairs, looking absolutely delighted.

“Where’s my grandson? Where is he?” she called out, her voice full of excitement.

Chiara walked over to steady Debby. “Debby.”

Chapter 298

“Chiara, is Titus really awake?” Debby asked, her voice trembling with hope.

“Yes, he’s awake,” Chiara replied.

“Where is he? Where is he?” Debby pressed, unable to hide her eagerness.

“Debby, he’s still in the room. He’ll be out in a minute,” Chiara assured her.

Adele came over to support Debby as well. “Debby, let’s sit on the couch and wait for him.”

Ryan heard what the grown-ups were saying.

“Grandma. Mom. Is Daddy awake now?” he called out, his voice bubbling with excitement.

Chiara saw her son and scooped him up, a smile tugging at her lips.

“Yep, your daddy’s awake. Are you happy, Ryan?” she asked.

“Really? Is Daddy really awake? I wanna see Daddy. I wanna see Daddy,” Ryan shouted, bouncing with excitement.

“Be good, Ryan. Your daddy will be out in just a minute, okay?” Chiara said, trying to calm him down.

“Okay.” Ryan nodded eagerly.

About twenty minutes later, Titus finally came out of the room on his own. He was moving just fine. The gunshot had only messed up his nerves, not his legs.

“Daddy,” Ryan shouted.

As soon as Ryan saw Titus, he bolted over as fast as his little legs could carry him.

Chiara couldn’t stop him, so she called out urgently, “Ryan, slow down.”

Titus saw his son running toward him and crouched down to catch him in his arms.

“Daddy, you’re finally awake. I missed you so much.” Ryan cried, throwing his arms around Titus.

Titus held his son close, a gentle smile tugging at his lips. “Good boy, Ryan.”

Titus tried to pick Ryan up, but after being stuck in bed for so long, his arms didn’t have strength. He couldn’t lift his son.

Seeing this, Chiara quickly got up, crouched down, and gently scooped Ryan out of Titus’s arms.

“Ryan, be good. Your daddy just woke up and doesn’t have much strength yet. Let me hold you for a bit, okay? Chiara coaxed softly.

Ryan looked surprised and didn’t want to leave his dad’s embrace, hesitating for a moment.

Seeing his son’s reluctance, Titus tried to reassure him, “It’s alright. I can hold you.”

But Chiara gave him a look, and Titus pressed his lips together, finally giving in.

“Ryan, be good. Let me hold you for now, alright?” Chiara said again.

Ryan finally nodded and slowly let go of Titus’s neck.

Chiara took Ryan into her arms, while Titus steadied himself against the doorframe and slowly stood up.

“Titus… Adele called out, her voice trembling.

Chapter 298

Titus looked at his family gathered on the couch, a faint smile playing on his lips.

“Hey, Grandma, Mom, Dad,” he greeted softly.

Seeing him up and about, the whole family couldn’t hold back their emotions.

How could anyone not be moved?

“It’s just so good you’re awake, really…” Adele murmured, her relief clear in her voice.

Word that Titus was awake spread like wildfire among those in the know.

“Wait, for real? Is Titus up? Seriously?” Wilbert blurted out, looking shocked.

Vera handed him her phone. “See for yourself.”

It was a video Chiara had taken, showing Titus sitting at the dining table, eating chowder.

Wilbert shot up, grabbed the phone, and watched the video over and over.

“Damn, he’s actually awake! Hurry up. Let’s go and check it out,” Wilbert shouted, practically bouncing in place.

Vera rolled her eyes and yanked him back. “Chill! Go tomorrow, okay? He just woke up, and let him have some family time tonight.”

Wilbert thought about it and realized she had a point, so he slowly sat back down.

“Yeah, you’re right. It’s getting late anyway. Let’s not go tonight. We’ll head over early tomorrow,” he said.

Just then, someone else popped into Wilbert’s mind, so he pulled out his phone and dialed.

Vera could already guess who he was calling.

“Hello?” Jeffrey answered.

“I’ve got some great news for you,” Wilbert said, barely able to contain his excitement.

“I already know. You don’t need to tell me,” Jeffrey replied, sounding totally unfazed..

“You already know?” Wilbert blurted out, surprised.

Jeffrey didn’t bother answering. He just hung up on him.

After hanging up, Jeffrey pulled up the video Chiara had sent him. At the very end, Titus noticed Titus in the camera and gave her a little look at the camera.

“Are you recording?” Titus asked.

“Yeah, just letting everyone know you’re doing fine,” Chiara replied.

“Mm,” Titus murmured.

The video was only a few seconds long, barely even ten seconds.

Jeffrey watched it three or four times before finally putting his phone down, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

Titus waking up was definitely the best news anyone could ask for.

Lately, the media had been making up all sorts of wild rumors, but Goodman Group had never given any official response.

Chapter 298

“Since you’re awake now, I’ll have the company issue an official statement. So, when do you plan to come back to the office? Charlie asked.

Adele glanced at Titus, frowning at how thin he looked. Look at him. Do you really think he’s in any condition to handle work right now?”

Charlie glanced at Titus and fell silent, but after a moment, he couldn’t help but fry again.

“What about next month? You should be able to put on a little weight by then, right?” Charlie asked.

“Why are you in such a rush?” Adele shot back.

Charlie pressed his lips together, staying quiet, but it was obvious he had way more gray hair than before.

Titus glanced at his dad’s half-gray hair. “Next month is fine.”

Charlie’s face lit up with relief as he looked at Titus.

“Great! I’ll have the kitchen whip up some special meals for you tomorrow to help you get your strength back, Charlie said.

Dinner was full of laughter and good vibes.

After dinner, Heather gave her a call, clearly having seen the video Chiara sent.

“Chiara, is Titus really awake?” Heather asked, her voice full of excitement.

“Yeah, he is,” Chiara replied.

Heather was quiet for a few seconds before finally saying, “That’s good, as long as he’s awake. How’s his health?”

“We’re planning to take him to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow,” Chiara said, glancing over at Titus playing with Ryan on the couch. “But he should be alright.”

“So, do you know what you want to do next?” Heather asked.

Chiara was stumped for a moment, her eyes drifting to everyone laughing together on the couch.

Heather guessed she probably hadn’t thought that far ahead yet, so she spoke gently,

“No rush. Take your time and think it over.”
