Chapter 300
Chapter 300
Chiara immediately put down her fork and turned to look at him. “Nope, coffee’s off the table. You can pick milk.
Titus just stared, speechless.
Wilbert glanced at the two of them and smirked like a little devil.
“Trust me, Titus, just do what Chiara says. She’s got your back,” Wilbert teased.
Titus pressed his lips together, then finally picked up the milk and took a sip.
Vera arched an eyebrow at Chiara and Titus, then murmured to Wilbert.
“Honey, do you know what this is called?” she asked.
“What is it called?” Wilbert replied.
“Everyone meets their match,” Vera said with a sly grin.
Honestly, they weren’t exactly whispering. Anyone nearby could catch what they were saying.
Chiara paused, feeling a bit amused by the banter, then picked up her milk and took a sip.
After breakfast, the group made a beeline for the hospital.
Yves had already heard the news and was waiting anxiously at the hospital entrance for Titus to arrive.
When he finally saw Titus step out of the car, Yves called out excitedly, “Titus.”
Yves hurried over, looked him up and down, then gave his arm a playful squeeze.
“You’re finally awake!” Yves exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.
Yves was absolutely thrilled to see Titus finally awake.
“You look pretty good. Come on, let’s go in. The doctors are all waiting for you,” Yves said.
Titus gave a slight nod. “Yeah.”
After a round of tests, all of Titus’s stats looked good. He was just a little underweight and could stand to put on a few pounds.
As doctors, they couldn’t help but feel happy for him.
“Mr. Goodman, the fact that you woke up is nothing short of a miracle. Congratulations, everyone,” one of the doctors said with a smile.
Once everyone knew Titus was in the clear, they all finally breathed a sigh of relief.
They walked out of the hospital main entrance, laughing and chatting. Jeffrey was leaning against his car, smoking. The moment he saw them, he stubbed out his cigarette.
Vera was the first to notice Jeffrey. She quickly tugged at Wilbert’s sleeve,
“Huh? What’s up?” Wilbert asked.
Vera tilted her chin, signaling him to look over.

Wilbert immediately looked up and saw Jeffrey already heading their way.
Vera whispered, “Is he going to try to pursue Chiara right in front of Titus?”
Wilbert was left speechless.
If that really happened, it’d be a real spectacle, but Wilbert wasn’t in the mood for drama.
So as Jeffrey walked up, Wilbert called out, “Man, what took you so long?”
Jeffrey gave him a look and said coolly, “Traffic.”
Jeffrey acted like he didn’t even notice Wilbert’s subtle signals. His eyes fixed on Titus and Chiara instead.
Titus and Chiara stood off to the side, looking every bit like a couple. Right now, they were watching him.
Chiara’s eyes flickered, but she didn’t say a word.
Jeffrey spoke up. “You’re awake.”
Titus stared at him, completely unfazed. “Does this bother you?”
Titus was definitely calling Jeffrey out, no holding back.
Wilbert’s eye twitched.
Seeing how things were going, Adele and Debby shot each other a look. “We’ll head back to the car,” Adele said.
Some things, they just gotta let the kids handle on their own.
Yves was the only one who had no clue what was going on. He glanced around at everyone’s faces, still lost. He blurted out, “What’s up with you guys? Did something happen?”
Yves was the only one left scratching his head, totally clueless.
Wilbert gave him a pat on the shoulder. “It’s nothing, really. Don’t you have rounds to do? Go on, get back to work.”
Yves shot them a puzzled look, still thinking they were acting weird, but just shrugged and said, “Alright, I’ll head back then.”
Once Yves was gone, Jeffrey turned to Titus and said in a low voice, “You woke up at the right time.”
Seriously, that was a real slap in the face. It was almost like he wished Titus had stayed out cold.
Chiara couldn’t help but glance at Jeffrey, but he didn’t even look her way. His eyes were fixed on Titus, standing right beside
her.
Titus’s expression turned cold. “Looks like you’re pretty disappointed.”
Jeffrey raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips as he spoke, “Not disappointed, just kind of a pity, that’s all.”
Wilbert’s brow furrowed. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Titus was onto something.
“What are you even talking about? Don’t take the joke too far,” Wilbert cut in.
Jeffrey glanced at Chiara, gave a nod, and played along with Wilbert’s attempt to smooth things over.
“Yeah, just kidding,” Jeffrey said, playing along.
Titus reached for Chiara’s hand and murmured, “Come on, let’s head home. Ryan’s waiting for us.”

Since they were going to the hospital, they’d left Ryan at home, but both had promised Ryan they’d be back early to spend time with him.
Chiara glanced at his hand. Even with his gentle hold, she could still feel the angular shape of his fingers.
“Mm,” she murmured.
As they headed down the steps, Titus called out one last thing to the group.
“Don’t go dropping by the Goodman manor for no reason. Debby’s getting older and prefers quiet these days,” he said.
Wilbert was left speechless.
With that, Titus and Chiara got in the car, and the three left on the steps could only watch as it pulled away.
Wilbert finally turned to Jeffrey. “Dude, are you crazy? You just had to make sure Titus figured it out, huh?”
Jeffrey let out a soft scoff and raised an eyebrow at him. “You really think he doesn’t know?”
Wilbert just stared, totally confused.
“He just woke up. How could he possibly know?” Wilbert shot back.
But Jeffrey just gave him a meaningful look and said, “If he didn’t know, he wouldn’t have woken up at all.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Wilbert asked, still baffled.
“Go figure,” Jeffrey said, putting on his shades and heading back to his car.
Wilbert watched as Jeffrey got into his sports car, then turned to Vera.
“Did you get what he meant?” Wilbert asked.
Vera nodded, then shook her head. “Kind of, but not really.”
On the way home, Titus kept holding Chiara’s hand, never letting go.
Chiara tried to pull away a couple of times, but every time she did, Titus tightened his grip. In the end, it was her hand that ended up aching from his bony fingers.
Suddenly, Titus spoke up. “Stay away from him from now on.”
Chiara knew exactly who he meant. She pressed her lips together and said, “We’ve always kept our distance.”
“Don’t think I don’t know what he’s up to,” Titus said, his voice low and serious.
Chiara couldn’t argue with that, so she fell silent.
But Titus gently tilted her chin and murmured, “I know there’s nothing going on between you two, and I know you’d never fall for him. But I still get jealous.”
Chiara just stared at him and replied, “You’re worrying for nothing.”
Titus just stared, speechless.
It wasn’t until dinner that Chiara finally made up her mind.
“Debby, Adele, I’ve decided to take Ryan back to the Lynch residence tomorrow,” Chiara said.

As soon as she said that, everyone turned to look at her, then glanced over at Titus.
Titus was the only one who kept his eyes locked on Chiara.
Chiara met his gaze and said, “It’s time for us to go back.”
Adele glanced at them and nodded. “That’s true. You’ve been living at the Goodman manor for almost half a year. It’s about time you went back to the Lynch residence.”
“Yes…” Chiara replied softly.
Titus gave her a long, searching look. “When are you moving?”
Chiara blinked and answered in a low voice, “Tomorrow.”
Titus watched her for a few seconds before saying, “Just make sure you don’t leave anything behind when you’re packing
tomorrow.”
Chiara gave him another look, but nodded anyway.
“I know,” Chiara replied.
