After about ten minutes, Titus came back. He shot Charlie a look and got straight to the point. “What’s up?”

Charlie gave Titus a look and cleared his throat.

He said, “The shareholders have been asking about when you’ll be back. I want to get an answer for them. When do you plan to return to the company? I need to tell them.”

Hearing that, Chiara got up from the sofa and made her way to the kitchen, planning to prepare some fruit.

As soon as Chiara left, Charlie frowned and continued, “When are you actually going back to the company? How long are you planning to leave me holding the bag with this mess?”

Titus just raised an eyebrow. “Honestly, I’m not feeling like going back.”

“Not going back?” Charlie’s voice shot up, disbelief written all over his face. “Why?”

“It’s pretty nice just lazing around at home, taking it easy, and doing nothing. Who wouldn’t want to just slack off? You ever feel like that?” Titus replied.

‘Of course I do! That’s exactly why I dumped everything on you as soon as you graduated,’ Charlie thought to himself.

‘Hanging out at home with Adele is pure happiness. Who in their right mind would want to be stuck at the office dealing with those shareholders all day?’

He felt very exhausted in just the past six months.

Charlie looked genuinely worried Titus might never come back, so he tried to talk some sense into him.

“Back then, I didn’t step down from the board until you graduated from college. Now Ryan’s just a kid, and you’re already slacking off like this?” Charlie said.

Titus raised an eyebrow and stretched lazily.

“You can help me! Paul called me and said that you’re still powerful and can easily handle things for a few more years,” Titus said.

Charlie’s face darkened, and he gritted his teeth. “A few more years, my ass! Are you blind? Can’t you see that I’m already very exhausted?”

He got up from the sofa angrily and shot Titus a glare. He added, “You look perfectly healthy. I’m heading back and sending out a notice that you’re coming back to the company next month. That’s settled. I’m leaving.”

With that, he bolted out of there like he was afraid someone might grab him and drag him back, moving faster than ever.

Chiara came out with some fruit and caught a glimpse of Charlie making a quick exit. She then turned to Titus, who was still sprawled on the sofa.

“So, when are you going back to the company?” she asked.

Titus looked at her and admitted, “Honestly, this is the happiest I’ve ever been. Just being with you and Ryan every day. The company? I couldn’t care less about it now.”

Chiara just stared at him, speechless.

She was about to say something when she locked eyes with him unconsciously.

She had thought he was just kidding, but now she could tell he really meant it.

Chiara rolled her eyes and said, “Come on, quit joking around.”

“Why don’t I just sell the company?” Titus said.

Chiara was shocked and asked, “Are you trying to be the black sheep of the Goodman family or what?”

Titus didn’t say anything, so Chiara added, “Charlie really does look exhausted.”

Titus gave her an intense look. “I was exhausted before, too, you know. Why didn’t anyone ever care about me?”

Chiara just stared at him, speechless.

Before she could get another word out, Titus continued, “So, is it time to make another baby happen? The doctor says I’m all clear. We can totally go for it.”

What?’ Chiara thought, completely speechless.

She seriously couldn’t figure out how he could jump from talking about the company to making babies in the blink of an

eye.

But then, thinking about how her body had been acting lately, she frowned. She really needed to double-check something.

“Let’s talk about it some other time,” she replied.

Titus frowned in protest. “Next week?”

Chiara just stared at him, speechless.

She didn’t even bother to reply, just got up and walked away.

Titus watched her retreating back and said softly, “Just next week.”

Chiara headed to the bathroom, glanced down at her belly, and pulled out her phone to order a pregnancy test online for same-day delivery.

If she really was pregnant, it should be about time to find out.

The next morning, Chiara woke up, glanced at Ryan, then pulled a pregnancy test out of the drawer and slipped into the bathroom.

After she was done, she stared anxiously at the test in her hand.

At first, there was just one clear line, but then, slowly, a second line started to appear.

Five agonizing minutes later, both lines were plain to see.

Chiara gripped the test tightly. Even though she’d tried to mentally prepare herself, she couldn’t stop the thrill bubbling up

inside.

I’m really pregnant. So it happened that night when he finally woke up,’ she thought, her heart skipping a beat.

‘Maybe it’s just because it’s been ages since we last did it,’ she thought.

Whatever the reason, Chiara was just plain happy.

Titus only went back to the house next door to sleep at night. During the day, he pretty much stayed here, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Chapter 302

Chiara carried Ryan downstairs and acted totally normal through breakfast. Once Ryan ran off to play, she quietly placed the pregnancy test in front of Titus.

Titus stared at the pregnancy test she handed over, his eyes fixed on the test results. His eyebrows shot up, and he looked at her, wide-eyed.

“You’re pregnant?” Titus blurted out.

His shout was so loud that Lindsay practically burst out of the kitchen.

“What?” Lindsay blurted out, totally caught off guard.

Chiara nodded and said, “I’m going to the hospital later to get it confirmed.”

Titus just stared at her, totally silent. Then he picked up the pregnancy test and kept looking at it, completely lost in thought.

Chiara could pretty much guess what was running through his head. Honestly, she was shocked too. After all those months of trying and nothing happening, it was wild that it finally happened that night.

Talk about double good news.

But he was staring at that test for so long, Chiara started to feel something wasn’t right.

Chiara frowned, “What’s up? You don’t look all that thrilled.”

Titus finally put the test down, met her gaze, and smiled at her.

“I was just trying to figure out the science behind it,” he said.

Chiara had wondered the same thing, but she wasn’t about to say it out loud.

“Whatever the reason, it’s a good thing,” she said.

Titus’s gaze lingered on her face, then fixed on her belly, his eyes growing serious and full of emotion.

“It’s indeed a good thing,” he said softly.

Soon, they’d have another baby, which was a forever link that would keep them tied together no matter what.

“I’ll go with you to the hospital for your check-up,” Titus offered.

Chiara glanced at him and didn’t refuse. He was just hanging around with nothing better to do these days anyway.

After breakfast, they drove and headed to the hospital together.

When Yves saw the pregnancy test they handed over, his whole face twitched as he’d just been hit with shock.

He looked at the two with a weird expression.

“Wait, you’re actually pregnant?” Yves stammered.

“Did the test this morning, had some blood work done too. Just waiting for the results now,” Chiara replied.

Yves was at a total loss for words, his eyes darting over to Titus’s face.

“Seriously, you two work fast!” Yves blurted out.

Yves might not be an OB-GYN, but he still knew the basics.

Chiara hadn’t thought much of it before, but now she was starting to feel a bit awkward.

She gave a little cough and looked away.

Titus just shot Yves a look and said coolly, “Why are you talking so much?”

Yves was left speechless. ‘Did I really say that much?’ he thought.

Twenty minutes later, the results were in. Chiara was indeed pregnant, barely five weeks in.

Yves gave them a knowing look and said, “Congrats, you two.”

Honestly, Yves was curious how Titus was going to spin this whole thing.
