When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 304

Chapter 304

Chapter 304

After putting away Titus’s toiletries, Chiara noticed a bottle of stomach medicine.

She remembered he’d been taking it last time, so she put the bottle in the nightstand drawer for easy access.

When Titus finished his call and came back to the room, Chiara and Ryan were already tucked in and fast asleep.

He automatically kept his movements quiet, closed the door gently, and walked over.

“Asleep?” Titus asked in a low voice.

“Yep,” Chiara murmured.

Only then did Titus lift the covers and slip in beside her. This time, he just lay quietly next to Chiara.

“Turn off the light,” she said.

After a while, Titus asked quietly, “When are you planning to let him sleep on his own?”

“What happened last time really left a shadow on him. I consulted a child psychologist, and they suggested that parents should stay with him until he’s about five or six,” Chiara replied.

Titus was silent for a few seconds before saying, “How about we hire a renowned child psychologist?”

“What do

you

mean?” Chiara asked.

“Let her spend time with Ryan,” Titus replied.

“No. Parents are the best teachers for a child. Are you saying I’m not good enough to raise Ryan?” Chiara shot back.

“That’s not what I meant…” Titus said.

“So you just don’t want Ryan sharing the bed with me, is that it?” Chiara asked.

Her words left Titus silent for a moment. After a long pause, he finally said quietly, “When I was little…”

“That’s right! You grew up with emotional scars because your parents weren’t there for you. Do you really want Ryan to turn out like you?” Chiara shot back.

Titus was left speechless.

After a long while, just as Chiara was about to fall asleep, out of nowhere, Titus’s voice came from behind her.

“Can I hold you while I sleep?” Titus asked softly.

Chiara didn’t open

her

eyes or say a word.

About twenty minutes later, she felt his arm slip gently around her.

Just as Chiara thought she could finally drift off, she heard Titus mumble softly behind her.

“When you fall asleep, I’ll go to hold you,” Titus muttered.

She pretended not to hear him and didn’t push him away.

Before she knew it, sleep had quietly claimed her.

Chapter 304

The next morning, Chiara woke up to total chaos.

“I have to pee. I can’t hold it anymore…” Ryan said.

“Just hold on a little longer,” Titus said.

“Dad, I really can’t hold it….” Ryan whimpered.

“Just a second,” Titus replied.

Hearing Titus and Ryan rush into the bathroom, Chiara slowly opened her eyes. With the sounds of their commotion drifting from inside, she rolled over and stretched out lazily.

After finishing in the bathroom, Ryan scrambled back onto the bed. He threw his arms around Chiara and planted a big kiss on her.

“Mom, why are you still in bed?” Ryan asked.

Chiara squinted and gently ruffled his hair. Just about to say something, she was kissed on the cheek.

She opened her eyes and looked into Titus’s eyes, which were still deep, but now carrying a warmth she hadn’t seen before.

Titus greeted her, “Morning.”

Chiara gave a small nod. “Morning.”

“I’m heading to the company today,” Titus said.

Chiara turned to look at him and asked, “Didn’t you say you were going to go next month?”

Titus ruffled Ryan’s hair and said, “I should come back and help him.”

Chiara knew he was talking about Charlie.

“Charlie really does look worn out these days,” Chiara said softly.

Titus murmured in agreement, then leaned down and kissed her forehead.

“Let me take him downstairs first. You can join us in a bit,” he said.

With that, he gestured for Ryan to come over. Ryan hopped right into his arms without a fuss.

“Mom, we will be downstairs waiting for you!” Ryan called out.

Chiara watched Titus and Ryan walk out of the room, feeling a bit lost in thought.

‘Is this what a normal family life feels like?’ Chiara wondered to herself.

By the time Chiara came downstairs, Titus and Ryan had already finished breakfast.

“Mom!” Ryan called out.

Chiara smiled and sat down. She glanced at Titus and said, “I put your stomach medicine in the bedside drawer.”

Titus paused mid-sip. “Stomach medicine?”

Chiara nodded and said, “It’s the one you were

before.”

Titus took a sip of his coffee, then stood up.

Chapter 304

“It’s probably expired. I’ll just toss it out. Otherwise, I’ll mix it up and take it by mistake,” Titus said.

Chiara didn’t find anything odd about it and just went ahead with her breakfast.

Upstairs, Titus opened the bedside drawer and pulled out the bottle of stomach medicine.

“Paul’s already here. I’m heading to the company. See you tonight,” Titus said.

Ryan gave him a cheerful wave goodbye.

“Dad, come home early after work, okay?” he called out.

“Of course,” Titus replied.

Chiara took a sip of her milk and noticed the medicine bottle he was holding.

“The trash can is in the kitchen. Why are you carrying that around?” she asked.

Titus glanced at the bottle in his hand and quickly came up with a good reason.

“I don’t want to leave expired medicine at home. Ryan might get into it by accident,” he explained.

That sounded reasonable, so Chiara didn’t press the issue.

Once Titus stepped out of the yard, Paul called out, “Mr. Goodman!”

Titus walked over and gave Paul a friendly pat on the shoulder. “Thanks for your hard work.”

Paul was so moved he nearly teared up and replied, “It’s nothing. Honestly, Charlie has been exhausted even harder than any of us.”

“Let’s go.”

“Okay, Mr. Goodman!” Paul replied.

Titus tossed the bottle of medicine straight into the trash can at the company entrance, making sure to get rid of the evidence for good.

Titus’s comeback had everyone at the company feeling happy and relieved/

It also shut down all the gossip and doubts from outsiders.

Time slipped by, and the year was soon over.

With each passing day, Chiara’s belly grew rounder. There was no hiding her pregnancy anymore.

When Charlie and Adele heard the news, they were both stunned. But mostly, they were overjoyed.

Only Debby remained completely calm.

“So, those two have patched things up?” Charlie asked.

“Of course. Otherwise, how could Chiara be pregnant?” Adele replied.

Charlie was the most excited of all. After a few months’ rest, he suddenly looked full of life again.

“Adele, we’re going to have another grandchild soon!” Charlie said, practically glowing with happiness.

Chapter 304

This was absolutely wonderful news.

The media even managed to snap photos of Titus escorting Chiara in and out of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Every time the media caught sight of Titus, they’d ask him, trying to get the scoop on whether he and Chiara had remarried.

But he never gave them a straight answer.

By the time Chiara was four months pregnant, Titus was still by her side for every single prenatal checkup.

It was like he was trying to make up for all the times he hadn’t been there before.

They’d been living together for a while now, but neither of them ever talked about where they stood. Both of them just kept dodging the subject, pretending it didn’t exist.

“Chiara still doesn’t know about that, does she?” Yves asked.

Chiara had just stepped out of the doctor’s office when she overheard Yves. Instead of walking over right away, she lingered off to the side, listening in.

“She doesn’t know,” Titus replied.

Yves sucked in a breath and asked, “So what are you gonna do when the baby’s born?”

Titus was quiet for a few seconds before finally saying, “We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”

Yves opened his mouth, ready to say that Titus could really trip, but the moment he spotted Chiara nearby, he changed his words.

“It’ll be fine,” Yves replied, trying to play it cool.

Titus glanced at him, and seeing that look on his face, a faint sense of unease crept in.

He turned around and found Chiara was already out, but he couldn’t tell if she’d caught any of that.

Titus just played it cool, walking over to her like it was any other day.

“What did the doctor say?” Titus asked.

Chiara was still wondering what Yves just said actually meant.

‘Could it be something about Ryan’s stem cell transplant?’ she thought to herself.

“The doctor said the baby’s perfectly fine,” Chiara said.
