When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 305

Chapter 305

Chapter 305

It wasn’t until they got back in the car that Chiara finally turned her head to look at Titus.

Titus met her gaze and asked calmly. “What’s up?”

Chiara looked at him, noticing how calm he seemed. He didn’t look like he was hiding anything from her, but something about their conversation with Yves just now felt off.

“What were you talking about with Yves earlier? And what did he mean?” Chiara pressed, her suspicion clear.

Titus pressed his lips together. It was obvious he’d spent the short drive coming up with a better excuse.

He gently touched Chiara’s ‘baby bump and said in a low voice, “Our daughter’s only coming into this world because of Ryan. Yves was just asking about who gets custody of her after she’s born.”

Chiara just blinked, figuring it sounded reasonable, so she let it go.

“We agreed on this before…” Chiara started.

She stopped mid-sentence as the baby suddenly kicked Titus’s hand.

“Let’s not talk about this in front of the baby. She might get upset,” Titus said softly.

Chiara clammed up right away, but after a moment, she whispered, “Didn’t we make a promise about this?”

Titus just smiled at her as he teased, “If the baby is a girl, can you really bear to part with her?”

He leaned in close, his breath warm against her ear as he whispered, “Would you really give me custody of our daughter?”

Chiara thought, ‘Obviously not, what a dumb question.

Especially knowing that this baby was likely to be a girl.

Seeing her at a loss for words, Titus smirked and coaxed, “How do you think I’ve been doing lately?”

Chiara shot him a look but didn’t say anything. Honestly, he’d been ticking all the boxes lately.

She really couldn’t find a single thing to complain about in the past few months.

“So, what are you getting at?” Chiara asked.

Titus lightly tapped his finger on the steering wheel. “If you think I’ve been good enough lately, maybe you could consider…”

Chiara cut him off right away. “Remarrying is out of the question.”

She wasn’t just playing hard to get. She honestly hadn’t even thought about remarrying him.

Getting married or remarried was easy, but getting a divorce was a real hassle, especially when it came to Titus.

If Debby hadn’t stepped in last time, getting divorced would’ve been a whole lot harder.

Titus narrowed his eyes, not expecting her to be so adamant. He paused for a few seconds before finally saying, “I just meant maybe you could consider giving me a chance. I never said anything about getting married again.”

Chiara looked him up and down. “A chance for what?”

“We’re living together, but it feels like something’s still missing between us,” Titus said.

Chapter 305

“What’s missing?” Chiara asked.

“Making it official,” Titus replied.

Chiara knew exactly what he was getting at.

“Weren’t you the one who shamelessly moved into our place and wouldn’t take no for an answer?” she shot back.

Titus gently rubbed her belly and said, “I’m just thinking about our baby here. We don’t have to get remarried right away, but maybe you could give me an official status. Even if it’s just a trial period. Our baby will be here in a few months.

After thinking it over for a few seconds, Chiara slapped his hand away. ‘Honestly, ever since I got pregnant, I feel that I’m not smart enough,’ she grumbled to herself.

She narrowed her eyes at him and asked, “Are you seriously using our baby to threaten me?”

Hearing this, Titus immediately threw up his hands in surrender, insisting, “No way! I’m doing this for our baby and for myself, too. Threaten you? I wouldn’t dare.”

Chiara snorted, not really buying it, but oddly enough, she found his words kind of made sense.

They were exes, not even a couple anymore, and yet baby number two was almost here.

If anyone heard about their situation, it’d be really strange.

Chiara turned her head to look out the window. A faint, almost imperceptible smile appeared on her face.

“Let’s see if you can impress me,” Chiara teased.

His eyes lit up, a mysterious spark flickering in them. Titus took her hand and kissed it softly.

“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to impress you,” Titus replied with a confident smile.

Chiara pulled her hand back, tilting her chin up with a hint of sass. “Alright, get moving.”

“At your command, my wife,” Titus replied.

“Quit calling me that,” Chiara retorted.

Titus raised an eyebrow, glancing at her belly as he gave a little laugh.

“Alright then, how about ‘honey?” he joked.

“Is there no job in your company, or are you just this bored?” Chiara shot back.

She leaned back against the headboard, covering her belly, then grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him. Her face flushed with

a mix of embarrassment and irritation, her ears turning bright red.

“Who said you could call me that?” Chiara snapped.

Titus caught the pillow, raised an eyebrow at her, and even touched his lips with his finger, just to mess with her.

“You looked like you were loving it…” Titus teased.

Chiara’s cheeks were flaming red, her eyes glimmering with a watery shine.

“Shut up!” Chiara shot back.

Titus smiled, his gaze deep and unreadable as he stared at her.

Chiara’s scalp tingled under his intense stare.

“Don’t you even think about it,” Chiara warned.

Titus’s gaze lingered on her rounded belly, his eyes growing even darker. He let out a low sigh and finally got up from bed.

“Relax, I’m not gonna do anything. I’ll just go handle it myself in the bathroom,” Titus said, half-joking.

Chiara bit her lip, gave him a quick glance, and then looked away, pulling the covers over herself and curling up in bed.

“Go to sleep. Don’t wait for me,” Titus said.

Chiara frowned. Ever since she got pregnant, she had become such a light sleeper. Even the slightest sound was enough to wake her up.

“Hurry up,” she said.

Titus raised an eyebrow, gave her a quick, playful once-over, half-smiling.

“Now that’s a bit cruel, you know?” he joked.

“That’s not what I meant!” Chiara protested.

“But if you really want me to hurry up, you could always lend a hand,” Titus smirked, his tone dripping with mischief.

Chiara didn’t even bother to answer. She just flicked off the light and shut her eyes tight, making it clear she was done with

him.

Just as Chiara was drifting off, she felt Titus snuggle up behind her, his body warm against her back.

Half-asleep, she instinctively turned and curled up against him.

It was a habit she’d only picked up in the past six months. Before that, they’d never really had the chance to fall asleep in each other’s arms all night..

Crazy how habits sneak up on you.

“I’m sleepy…” Chiara mumbled, her voice soft and drowsy.

Titus gently pulled the covers up around her and kissed her forehead. “Goodnight.”

There was no way Chiara could keep her pregnancy a secret, especially since Titus wasn’t exactly trying to hide it.

Of course, someone snapped photos of them heading into the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology together and posted them online in no time.

One day, as Titus was leaving work, a bunch of gutsy paparazzi cornered him.

“Mr. Goodman, is your ex-wife pregnant? Is the baby yours? Are you two back together?” the reporters called out.

Titus, who usually ignored the press, actually paused and looked straight into the cameras.

He replied, “Of course, I’m the baby’s father. But we’re not remarried yet. I’m still in the trial period. Gotta earn my way before things get official.”

Chiara saw the news too. Soon after, she got a message from Queenie.

Queenie: [Chiara, everyone at the office knows Titus was the one who messed up when you guys split. Now they’ve actually started a betting pool on when you two will get back together. I haven’t placed a bet yet. So come on, give me the inside
