Chapter 308
Chapter 308
“What?” Chiara blinked, totally thrown off by what Heather just said.
For a second, she couldn’t even process what Heather meant.
“What do you mean?” Chiara asked, still confused.
“Maybe,” Heather replied.
She added, “Those guys are the ones who rejected me before, and even tried flirting with me.”
Chiara blinked, still processing. “So, Kason did all that to stand up for you?”
Heather glanced at Chiara and asked, “Do you think so?”
Chiara blinked and said, “Doesn’t he really hate us, though?”
Heather didn’t deny it and thought, ‘Yeah, that’s how it was before.
“I was bored recently and came across a super popular novel,” Chiara added.
“What’s it about?” Heather asked.
“The main guy does everything to make the girl fall for him, just to get revenge on her family. After they get married, he takes over her family’s company, then reveals his true colors. Starts tormenting her, humiliating her, and messing around with other women… Chiara explained.
Heather was speechless. “That plot is something else…”
Chiara cleared her throat, thinking, ‘Yeah, it’s just a novel. But the more I think about it, the more it feels like what’s happening to us.’
“Did you read the ending yet?” Heather asked.
Chiara shook her head and replied, “It’s still being updated. Right now, the girl wants a divorce, but the guy won’t let her go and just gets even nastier. In fact, this is a novel about a true love that the male protagonist is chasing after the girl. The guy actually falls for her as they spend time together, but the author hasn’t written that part yet. I will read new chapters every day.”
Heather couldn’t help but laugh and shake her head, gently rubbing Chiara’s baby bump.
“It’s just a novel,” she said.
Chiara nodded and asked, “Still nothing?”
Heather shook her head.
Chiara fell silent at that.
Then she asked, “So, what’s the deal with you and Kason right now?”
“We’re basically just getting along,” Heather replied.
“Heather, do you think there’s any chance he could ever fall for you?” Chiara asked.
After mulling it over, Chiara thought this was honestly the most straightforward solution.

Chapter 308
If Kason really did Tall for Heather, that would be great.
Hate could tear everything apart, but love had the power to heal and forgive anything.
Heather gazed at her, her voice low. “You’re not joking with me, are you?”
Chiara shook her head. “It’s been almost a year, but we still haven’t uncovered anything. Maybe it’s time to try a different route. Even if he can’t forgive you that easily, if he really has feelings for you, at least that’s something you can rely on.
Heather was just about to say something when the office door swung open.
They didn’t even have to look to know who it was.
Only Kason would barge in without knocking.
Kason glanced at Chiara, who was sitting on the sofa with her baby bump, and asked, “Chiara, what’s the matter?”
Chiara shot him a look and shook her head. “Just passing by, thought I’d drop in.”
She glanced at Heather. “I’ll get going.”
Heather helped her up and said, “Let me walk you downstairs.”
“No need. The driver’s waiting at the entrance. If you’re worried, just ask Charlotte to come with me,” Chiara said.
Heather nodded. “Alright, I’ll have Charlotte walk you down. Take it easy and be careful.”
“Got it, don’t worry. I’m off,” Chiara replied.
She gave Heather a meaningful look before turning around. Then, she nodded gently at Kason and held her lower back, leaving.
Kason glanced at her baby bump. In a gentlemanly gesture, he held the door open for her.
Chiara shot him a look and said softly, “Thanks.”
Kason raised an eyebrow as she walked out, then turned to Heather.
“Is she about to give birth?” he asked.
Heather nodded. “Yeah, her due date’s next month.”
“A girl?” Kason asked.
Heather nodded again and replied, “Most likely.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she noticed Kason’s eyes fell on her bump.
Heather flinched a little, then turned and headed for her desk.
“Did you want something?” she asked.
Kason let out a soft scoff. “Why are you avoiding me?”
Heather sat down and looked up at him. “What are you thinking?”
“Of course, I want you to bear our children,” Kason said, his tone unapologetically direct.
Heather gave a faint, mocking smile. “So you’ll just toss them aside and use them to hurt me?” she asked.

Kason smirked. “I’ve changed my mind.”
“What did you mean?” Heather asked.
“Give me two kids. A son and a daughter. Then, maybe I’ll wipe the slate clean with your family. How about it?” Kason said.
Heather stared at him, her expression cold. “Not up to much.”
Kason walked over to her desk, hooked a finger under her chin, and lifted it. “You seriously won’t even consider it?”
Heather turned her head away, obviously not interested in talking about something so ridiculous.
Kason’s eyes grew darker. He said, “My offer’s always good. Whenever you decide you want to give me kids, it’s still on.”
Heather looked up at him and said, “Unless you have something important, you can go. I have work to do.”
Kason glanced at the documents on her desk. “All this hard work, and if you don’t have an heir to pass it on to, it’d be a real shame, wouldn’t it?”
Heather stared at him, her face blank. Kason just smirked and turned to leave
No sooner had Kason left than Robyn walked in.
She took one look at Heather’s expressionless face and handed her the file.
“What did he say just now?” Robyn asked.
“He said if I have two kids with him, all our debts will be settled,” Heather said flatly.
Heather didn’t bother to hide anything.
Robyn froze for a second, then her face went a little strange.
“Is he out of his mind?” she blurted.
Heather shot her a few glances and asked, “So, you still have a thing for him?”
Robyn pursed her lips and glanced away.
She said, “He’s married to you now. Why would I still like him? I’ve got my bottom line, you know. Please, with the way he acts, I’m scared. The guy’s a total nutcase.”
Then Robyn glanced back at Heather. “But it seems like you two aren’t at each other’s throats as much lately.”
Heather paused for a moment, then asked, “You think so?”
“Isn’t it?” Robyn asked.
“Would you rather see us just get along?” Heather asked.
Robyn was clearly starting to get over Kason. She hadn’t totally moved on yet, but at least she didn’t get all worked up anymore if she heard about him or saw him getting close to some other woman.
“That’s your business,” Robyn replied.
Then she added, “Even if you two fall for each other, it’s got nothing to do with me. All I care about now is the truth about what happened back then.”
Heather’s eyes flickered. She said, “I’m sorry. No matter what the truth turns out to be, if I find any clues, I promise I won’t

hide anything from you.”
Robyn stared at her, unwavering. “I trust you.”
Heather paused for a moment and said, “Thanks.”
Robyn took the signed file and turned to leave the office.
After Robyn left, Heather picked up her phone and made a call.
“Mrs. Ross, I think I’ve already given you more than enough time,” Heather said, her tone firm.
“I know, but I need a little more time. You know, I only just handled my stepson last month. Please, just give me a bit more time, okay?” Cecilia, on the other end, pleaded.
Heather paused for a moment and said, “One month. That’s all you get.”
“Alright, one month,” the woman agreed.
