Chapter 310
Chapter 310
Heather barely slept a wink all night because of what Greta had said.
It wasn’t until early the next morning that she finally managed to doze off for about an hour.
But the ringing of her phone woke her up right away. She frowned and reached for her phone by her pillow.
“Hello?” she answered, her voice still groggy.
Kason could tell right away from her voice that she was still in bed. After all, they’d shared a bed for so long.
“Why aren’t you up yet?” he asked.
Heather glanced at her phone and realized it was already eight.
“Didn’t sleep well last night?” Kason asked.
Heather didn’t say anything, which was as good as admitting it.
It wasn’t just that she didn’t sleep well. She barely slept at all.
“What, can’t sleep without me?” Kason teased.
That wasn’t really the reason, but Heather didn’t want to tell him why she’d actually been up all night.
“Did you get there?” she asked.
“Yes.”
Heather glanced at the time, then tossed off the covers and got out of bed.
“I need to freshen up. Talk to you later,” she said, hanging up.
After hanging up, Heather quickly washed up and headed downstairs. Greta couldn’t help but chuckle when she saw the dark circles under Heather’s eyes.
“Didn’t sleep well?” Greta asked.
Heather nodded and replied, “I was just thinking about some things, so I couldn’t sleep.”
Greta ladled out a bowl of chowder for her and asked, “So, do you know what to do?”
Heather took a sip of chowder before looking at her. “Do you have any advice?”
Greta slid a peeled egg over to her and winked. “Sometimes pretending turns real. If you put your heart into it, maybe the ending won’t be about winning or losing, just about being true love, What do you think?”
Heather paused mid-sip, just staring at Greta for a long moment./
“Greta, you’re really smart,” Heather said.
Greta just smiled and said, “I’ll go get you some bread.”
Heather sat there quietly, sipping her chowder, while Greta’s words kept replaying in her head.
And turning old grudges into new bonds…

Chapter 310
M
At the office, Robyn clearly knew Kason had gone back to Micashy. She turned to Heather and said. “I offered to go with him, but he turned me down.”
Heather looked up at her. “So, what are you trying to say?”
Robyn pressed her lips together, looking conflicted, but finally spoke up.
“That place is like his playground. I’ve seen the kind of life he lives over there. Honestly, it was wild, totally blew my mind. It’s basically a whole crowd of…”
She hesitated, then added, “He’s been in Halinston for so long, probably holding back his true self. But once he’s back there, who knows what he’ll do?”
Heather nodded and said, “So what’s your point? Even if he wants to do something over there, what can you or I actually do
about it?”
“I can’t do anything, but you can. You’re his wife. You’ve got the legal rights to keep him in check,” Robyn said.
Robyn pressed her lips together, then she said in a low voice, “I used to try and rein him in, get him to change, but he never listened to me. Not once.”
Heather almost laughed, but kept it to herself.
She asked, “So what makes you think I can actually keep him in line? That he’d listen to me and somehow get his act together?”
“You can,” Robyn said, suddenly sounding sure.
“Why?” Heather asked.
“Because lately he’s been way more well-behaved. No flirting around, no drama, barely any rumors. Isn’t that all because of you?” Robyn replied.
Heather just stayed quiet, not answering her doubts.
Robyn added, “I know him well. Honestly, I can’t think of any other reason except you. But once he’s away from you, out of Halinston and back in his old stomping grounds, who knows what he’ll get up to? If he gets caught up in the fun over there, those bad habits are tough to break when he comes back.”
Heather suddenly remembered the very first time she ever met Kason. Girls everywhere, wild parties…
“Just tell me what you want me to do,” Heather said.
Robyn stared at her and said, “Go to Mieashy. Watch him and stick with him, even if it’s just for your own sake.”
With that, she grabbed her files and walked away.
Heather just sat there in her chair for ages, barely moving. After what felt like forever, she finally picked up her phone and stared at Kason’s number, but in the end, she just couldn’t bring herself to call him.
Instead, she dialed Greta.
“Hello?” Greta answered.
“Greta, it’s me,” Heather said.
“What’s up? Aren’t you supposed to be at work right now?” Greta asked.

Chapter 310
“What is it?” Greta asked.
Heather hesitated, but finally blurted out, “Do you know Kason’s address in Micashy?”
Greta paused for a moment, then laughed softly and said, “Of course I do. I’ll send it to you right away.”
“Okay,” Heather replied.
Less than a minute after hanging up, Heather got a message from Greta with the address.
She stared at the address for a long time before finally picking up the phone.
“Charlotte, come in,” Heather said.
Charlotte came into the office right away. “Ms. Lynch.”
“Help me book a flight to Mieashy,” Heather said.
“Mieashy?” Charlotte asked, sounding a bit surprised.
“Yes,” Heather replied.
“How many tickets should I book for you, Ms. Lynch?” Charlotte asked.
Heather paused for a moment. “Just one, for myself.”
“Would you like me to come with you?” Charlotte asked.
“No need, I’m just going to see someone,” Heather replied.
Charlotte instantly guessed. ‘Kason just left for Mieashy. She must be going after him,’ she thought.
Charlotte was naturally willing to see that the couple had a good relationship, so that work got easier for everyone.
“Alright, Ms. Lynch. I’ll get on it right away,” she said.
“Okay.”

After work, Charlotte drove Heather to the airport. Greta had Heather’s luggage delivered straight to the office. Just some clothes to change into, nothing expensive.
It was rush hour, so the traffic was a nightmare.
That was when Heather’s phone rang.
She glanced at the screen and saw it was a video call from Kason.
Her eyes flickered as she answered. Kason’s laid-back voice came through.
“Just got off work?” he asked.
Heather didn’t mention she was on her way to see him. She just nodded and said, “Yeah, I’m on the road. Traffic’s a mess.”
“Funny, I’m on my way to the office too,” Kason said.
Heather looked at Kason on the screen and asked, “How are things on your end?”
“Alright,” Kason replied lazily, clearly not in the mood to go into details.

Chapter 310
Heather wasn’t really curious about his business overseas anyway.
Just then, a woman’s voice came through.
“Mr. Bradford, should I order lunch the same as last time?” the woman asked.
Kason glanced up and said, “Can’t you see I’m on a video call?”
The woman quickly apologized and didn’t say another word.
Heather shifted her gaze, staring out the window, trying to distract herself from the awkward silence.
Kason’s voice came through, casual as ever. “What are you looking at?”
Heather finally turned back to the screen, a hint of resignation in her voice. “Just wondering how much longer this traffic jam is gonna torture me.”
“How much longer?” Kason asked, sounding like he was just making conversation.
Heather just stared, lost for words.
She figured he was just trying to keep the chat going, so she looked back at the screen and asked, “Aren’t you busy?”
“I’m squeezing in a little time on my way to work, so you can play detective and keep tabs on me,” Kason teased.
Heather raised an eyebrow and asked, “Do you actually enjoy me keeping tabs on you?”
Kason grinned. “Isn’t it a little exciting?”
“Who was that woman just now?” Heather asked.
Without missing a beat, Kason spun the camera around, showing off a beauty.
“My secretary,” he replied, totally chill.
The secretary looked a bit surprised, then gave a friendly smile to the phone.
Heather sized her up and said, “Nice figure.”
Kason let out a low laugh, clearly entertained, and turned the camera back to himself.
“Honey, are you seriously keeping tabs on me now?” he teased.
