When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 312

Chapter 312

Chapter 312

The maid flashed a bright smile at him and pointed upstairs, but still didn’t say who had come to the house.

Kason raised an eyebrow, totally unfazed. Whoever it was, he was keeping himself pure tonight.

“Alright, get back to work,” he said.

The maid put away his shoes and hung up his coat, then nodded and asked, “Do you want a late-night snack, Mr. Bradford?”

Kason glanced at her. ‘Haven’t had one in ages, he thought, then gave a nod.

“Yeah, just bring it up to my room,” he said.

“Alright, Mr. Bradford,” the maid replied.

As Kason made his way up the stairs, he casually unbuttoned his shirt. He shot a glance at his bedroom door, pushed it open, but didn’t step inside right away. Just leaned lazily at the door.

He couldn’t help but worry that those women might try to ambush him out of nowhere.

Sure, he wasn’t looking for trouble tonight, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t tempted. He couldn’t promise things wouldn’t spiral out of control, so he’d better keep his guard up.

With his hands shoved in his pockets, Kason was scanning the room. The sheets were a mess, like someone had already slept on them. There was a suitcase placed right in front of the closet.

Kason gave a dry laugh. ‘Trying to move in and never leave?’ he thought.

Hearing the water running in the bathroom, he narrowed his eyes and stepped inside. He shut the door and dropped onto the sofa, waiting to see who’d step out later.

Kason leaned back on the sofa, eyes closed, just kicking back. He’d definitely had too much to drink tonight. Back in Halinston, he’d only ever had a couple of drinks to unwind, but it had been ages since he’d really let loose like this.

Even with his eyes shut, he found himself thinking about all the women he’d ever brought to this place.

He started sorting through them in his mind, one by one.

Even when the sound of running water from the bathroom stopped, Kason didn’t bother to open his eyes. He just kept lounging there.

When the bathroom door finally opened, he still didn’t look up, just asked lazily, “Who told you to come here?”

Heather stepped out of the bathroom and spotted Kason already back. She was about to say something, but when he hit her with that question, she clamped her mouth shut.

Instead, she watched his cool, distant look. ‘Is he pissed because I came here without asking?’ she thought to herself.

Heather pressed her lips together, wondering if showing up out of the blue was a smart move or if she was just making things worse for herself.

When she didn’t respond for a long moment, Kason finally opened his eyes and looked over at her.

The instant he saw her, he was momentarily stunned.

Heather had been watching his expression the whole time, so she clearly saw the surprise and astonishment flash across his

face.

Chapter 312

This time, before Kason could say anything, Heather spoke up first, “You really didn’t know it was me in there, did you?”

She sounded almost certain.

“So who did you think was coming here?” she added, curiosity in her eyes.

Her string of questions totally threw Kason off. He’d pictured every possible face in his mind, except hers.

Heather didn’t seem bothered at all by his silence. She just strolled over to the closet and started getting dressed.

While slipping into her clothes, she said, “Sorry, looks like you weren’t exactly expecting me. Maybe I ruined your night by showing up out of nowhere. It’s fine, I can head out now. I won’t get in your way.”

Only then did Kason come back to his senses. Veins bulged on his forehead as he let out a curse in a lower voice.

It was rare for him to lose his composure like this.

Thinking about how Greta and the maid had kept him in the dark, his face turned sour.

But now wasn’t the time to get into it. Right now, he needed to calm Heather down.

Kason jumped up from the sofa, strode over, and scooped Heather up in his arms, carrying her straight to bed.

Heather’s brows furrowed, her eyes cold as she stared at him.

She snapped, “Put me down.”

Kason set her down on the bed, holding her wrists as he looked down at her, his eyes fixed on her face.

“What are you even saying? Ruining my night? Do you see me getting another woman here?” he shot back.

Heather tried to break free a couple of times, but it was useless. No way she could ever win against a guy’s strength, so she just gave up.

“You know it yourself,” she said coldly.

Kason raised his brows with a hint of mischief, leaned down, aiming for a kiss but Heather dodged him, turning her face

away.

The way she turned her face aside made it obvious she was still bothered by what he’d said earlier.

He felt a rare pang of regret.

‘If I’d just bothered to open my eyes and see who it was… he thought.

Kason cupped Heather’s cheek and kissed her. Right on target, not missing a beat.

Heather instinctively resisted, but it was just a reflex.

They kissed for a while. Only when Heather’s guard finally softened did Kason slowly let her go.

His breath warmed against her ear as he spoke in a low voice, “Don’t be mad. Seriously, I’m not making this up, I honestly thought it was someone else.”

Heather tried to pull away again, but Kason just leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on her earlobe, hoping to calm her down.

“I swear, I’ve been behaving my best tonight. Not a single woman’s gotten anywhere near me,” he added with a half-smile.

Heather paused, then snapped, “You are lying!”

Kason raised an eyebrow. “No!”

“I can smell things, you know,” Heather shot back, her tone icy.

Kason finally realized what she meant. He glanced down at his shirt, noticing the traces that the woman had left on him

earlier.

“Seriously, I wasn’t fooling around with anyone. She threw herself at me, but I turned her down. Otherwise, I’d be…” Kason said, his voice trailing off.

Heather shot him a sharp look, her eyes narrowing. “So what would you be?”

Kason just curled his lips into a teasing smile and stole a quick kiss from her.

“Trust me, if I lie on you, I wouldn’t be home all by myself, playing the good guy. And I sure wouldn’t be busy tossing some uninvited woman out of my place, would I?” he joked.

Heather’s eyes softened a little as she thought back to the cold, annoyed look on his face when he was sprawled out on the sofa.

But that also told her something else clear.

“How many women have you actually brought back here?” she couldn’t help but ask.

Kason just stared at her, completely speechless.

Heather arched an eyebrow, a wry smile tugging at her lips. “What’s wrong? Lost count already?”

Kason locked eyes with her for a while before finally getting up, casually tugging Heather up with him.

Heather moved off to the side, gave him a quick glance, and smoothed out her wrinkled top.

Kason watched her quietly for a few seconds before asking in a low voice, “What made you suddenly follow me here?”

The word “follow” caught Heather off guard. She was never the type to just tag along after someone.

But she didn’t bother trying to explain herself. She just looked up, meeting his eyes, and said, “I just heard your life over here is pretty wild, so I got curious and figured I’d come see for myself.”

Kason could already guess who’d put that idea in her head. He gave a soft laugh, teasing, “So, what else did she tell you?”

“Why don’t you take a wild guess?” Heather replied.

Kason couldn’t quite figure out what that brat Robyn had been running her mouth about.

But those few times Heather had actually caught him in action….

Heather kept an eye on him. To be honest, Robyn hadn’t been exaggerating one bit.

‘Did I bother you by coming over?’ Heather asked, sounding a bit unsure.

Kason raised an eyebrow, giving her a teasing look.

Heather pressed her lips together and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

She said coolly, “Since you don’t seem too happy about me dropping by unannounced, maybe I should just fly back.”

She started to get out of bed, but Kason caught her around the waist, pulling her back against him. His chin was resting on her shoulder as he murmured softly, “You just dropped everything to come after me? What about your job back home?”
