Chapter 314 Must Be The One
Chapter 314 Must Be The One
Kason’s appearance to discuss business with Heather really caught everyone off guard, which spread quickly within their circle.
But Heather clearly wasn’t a fan of socializing, so on the last day, she decided to stay home and get some rest.
Kason finished tying his tie, then turned to look at Heather, who was sprawled comfortably across the bed.
“You sure you don’t want to come with me today?” he asked.
Heather had been dragged to all sorts of social events with him these past few days, so she nodded without hesitation, thinking to herself, ‘No way am I going out again today.
Kason smirked as he walked back to bed and looked down at her. “Disappointed?”
Heather knew exactly what he meant. “Not at all. If you don’t want me to see it, then I won’t, simple as that.”
Kason tilted her chin up and gave her a soft kiss on the corner of her mouth.
“Those events really aren’t for you. But if you’re curious, I can always take you and let you see what it’s like,” he said.
Heather just looked at him, not saying a word.
Kason gently stroked her cheek and added, “It’s fine, you’ve got plenty of time. Just let me know before tonight so I can make arrangements.”
Heather replied, “No need to think it over. I’m actually curious to see how you used to live.”
Kason held her chin and looked her in the eyes. “You sure you want to know?”
“Yes.”
She’d already made her choice and was in this with him. There was no backing out.
She thought, ‘If I want to win him over, the first step is to truly understand what made him tick.’
Kason stared at her for a few seconds before finally smiling. “Alright, I’ll come pick you up tonight.”
Heather watched him leave the room, then slumped her shoulders and let out a soft sigh.
Her phone buzzed. It was Chiara calling.
“Hello, Chiara. Why are you still up so late?” Heather asked.
“Are you in Mieashy?” Chiara asked.
“Yes,” Heather replied.
“What are you up to over there?” Chiara asked.
“I’m here for Kason,” Heather replied.
Chiara fell silent for a moment and asked, “For him? Why?”
Heather felt like there was no way she could explain everything in just a few words.
Chiara added, “Heather, you and he…”
“Not exactly, but maybe,” Heather replied.
Chiara was totally confused. “What do you even mean by that?”
“I’m fine. Seriously, don’t worry about me,” Heather said.
“Alright, so when are you coming back?” Chiara asked.
“I’ll be back tomorrow,” Heather replied.
Since Heather didn’t go out with Kason today, the maid brought a photo album and handed it to her. Heather flipped through it and was surprised to see a bunch of group photos from the orphanage, and Kason appeared in all of them.
But then, she spotted a familiar face in one of the pictures.
She picked out that photo and looked closer, realizing the boy standing next to Kason was actually Gael.
‘So Gael grew up in the same orphanage as Kason. No wonder they’ve known each other since they were kids,’ Heather thought.
No wonder she always felt their relationship was more than just boss and assistant. Gael was more like family to Kason.

Then she found another photo, one of Gael, Kason, and a little girl all together.
All three of them were smiling at the camera. They looked genuinely happy.
The girl in the picture wore a white dress, hugged a doll to her chest, and was absolutely beautiful.
“Do you know who this girl is?” Heather asked.
The maid shook her head and replied, “No, I don’t. This album belongs to Greta. She asked me to dig it out so you guys could take it back with you.”
Heather nodded. “Alright, I’ll take it back for her.”
The maid nodded and headed off to finish her chores.
After flipping through the album, Heather took it upstairs and tucked it into her suitcase, just in case she forgot to bring it back.
Then she started wandering around the villa.
There wasn’t really much to see, but out of boredom, she ended up checking out every room.
When she came to the study, she was surprised to find a painting hanging on the wall.
It was a portrait of Kason.
He was lounging on the sofa in a bathrobe, cigarette in one hand and a drink in the other. Heather leaned in for a better look. Honestly, the painting was so lifelike, it put any photo to shame.
She snapped a picture with her phone and sent it straight to Kason.
Heather: [Who painted this for you?]
The painting was way too intimate and casual. Heather’s gut told her the artist had to be a woman.
But Kason didn’t reply to her message. Maybe he didn’t want to, or maybe he was just ignoring it. Who knew?
Heather wandered around the study, gave the safe a quick glance, then looked away.
There wasn’t much out in the open worth checking out, just some books.
Heather didn’t find out someone had dropped by unannounced until she woke up from her nap.
Noticing how the maid was acting all shifty, Heather actually felt a bit reassured.
This whole trip to Mieashy had been way too peaceful, almost boring.
When she saw the guest was a gorgeous blonde with blue eyes, Heather thought, ‘Well, maybe this trip wasn’t a total waste
after all.’
“Hello, please have a seat. Are you here for me, or for Kason?” Heather said, her tone calm and welcoming.
Heather thought to herself that she was handling the unexpected visit just fine, while the maid looked visibly nervous, glancing between the two women.
Heather smiled and said to the maid, “Could you please bring our guest a cup of coffee?”
The maid nodded quickly. “Okay, Mrs. Bradford.”
The woman’s face changed noticeably when she heard “Mrs. Bradford,” her eyes locking onto Heather, who was lounging on the sofa.
“So you’re the wife Kason married back home?” the woman asked.
Heather gave a slight smile and said, “Sorry. I think you can introduce yourself before you ask about someone else.”
The woman pointed at the sofa and asked, “Can I sit and chat with you?”
Heather nodded. “Sure, go ahead.”
She sat down with her designer bag, taking her time as she glanced around the room instead of jumping into conversation.
“Looks like nothing’s changed around here,” she remarked.
Heather just raised an eyebrow. There was always a faint smile on her face.
The maid set two cups of coffee on the table and was about to leave when the blonde woman spoke up, “You still remember my taste.”
The maid shot a quick look at Heather, just smiled back, and left.
Back in the kitchen, seeing the two women facing off on the sofa, the maid hurried to text Kason.
“You seem pretty familiar with this place,” Heather said.

“Well, of course. I was the lady of the house before you came along,” the woman replied, taking a sip of her coffee.
“I got your background. You’re smart and gorgeous. I get why Kason picked you,” the woman said.
Heather just smiled, thinking to herself, ‘She has no clue why we actually got married.’
“Because we’re a perfect match?” she asked.
“Isn’t it?” the woman said.
Heather took a sip of her coffee. “If that’s what you think, then fine.”
Seeing Heather stay so calm and collected, the woman bit her lip, clearly a little thrown off by Heather’s composure.
“Just call me Amelie,” she said.
“So, Amelie, what brings you here today?” Heather asked.
Amelie clutched her designer bag and said, “Before I lived here, there was another woman. Back then, I really thought I’d be the last. So, Heather, do you think you’ll be the last woman in his life?”
Heather slowly set her coffee down. She said in a calm voice as she looked at Amelie, “Amelie, you weren’t the last. But I have already married him.”
Amelie was stunned. “What?” she asked.
