Amelia

As time kept ticking, my nerves were slowly showing. This is an actual life or death situation, one I’ve never faced before. All my life, I thought spiders were my biggest fear, but today, I learned that it’s not true – losing a patient is.

Sophia helps me check Nina’s vitals while I rush to fetch ice to cool her fever. Somewhere in the distance, I hear Joey and Ethan raising their voices, but I can’t focus on that. My vision Leturns into a tunnel, focusing only on Nina.

When I return to the room and frantically start stacking the ice packs, both Ethan and Joey wwwatch my every movement. Nina’s breathing keeps becoming more shallow and my hands

shake as the fear of the worst case scenario invades my mind.

“Amelia, Michael mentioned your healing abilities. Maybe you can use them?” Ethan asks and stestops next to me to place a grounding hand on my shoulder. “Breathe. After a mcmoment, his eyes turn back to that soft brown color. “The guards found the snake and already gargathered all the antivenoms we have in our supply, they’re saying they have a few doses of the on one you need. It’ll be brought here right away.”

A WA wave of relief washes over me. It’s too soon, but I can’t help feeling the way I do.

WWhile we wait, I turn to Sophia, still refusing to let go of Nina’s hand. “Can you prepare the

Sophia’s eyes widen a little and a soft gasp passes her lips. “Goddess, you’re right! Give me a second, I’ll be back with everything you need in a moment!”

I watch as Sophia rushes out of the room. Once the door closes behind her, a wave of silence washes over us and none of us bothers to speak up.
