CHAPTER 13
Logan
“Alpha Logan, huh?” Michael chuckles like my name brings him great entertainment. “And why do you think I would know anything about this Luna of yours?”
I’m already at the end of my rope, barely holding back my wolf who’s clawing at the walls of my control, demanding to be let free so he can go and look for Amelia himself.
After a moment, I manage to calm down, block out my wolf and speak to Michael through gritted teeth, “Amelia Bennett, the daughter of a once close friend of yours Ronan, the very man who called you. Ronan claims you might know where she is.”
Michael laughs so suddenly, the sound startles me a little. “Funny you’d ask, Alpha. From what I gather, you rejected Amelia, which in turn means you are no longer her Alpha and you have no claim to her. Amelia is a free woman, she can do whatever she wants to, go wherever she pleases. It’s best if you step back and don’t call me again.” He growls and hangs up on me.
For a moment, I stand there, completely frozen in time with the phone still pressed against my ear. Then, suddenly, burning anger takes over me and I throw the phone against the wall, shattering it.
I’m breathing heavily, glaring at Ronan who has started slowly backing away.
Nobody seems to understand that Ronan’s indifference and Michael’s careless attitude only fuel my fury. Amelia didn’t disappear, she left and now, she’s hiding away from me on
purpose.
Taking a step closer to Ronan, I snarl, “now, you’re going to tell me everything you know about that Michael guy. What is he, where he lives, which pack he belongs to. Every single detail. And don’t think about trying to fool me, I can smell lies from miles away, Ronan.”
“I don’t know that much, Alpha. Michael and I haven’t spoken for years,” Ronan mutters.
I can sense the nervous energy radiating off him, which only means that he’s holding back something. And, I have a valid reason to believe the secret is pretty big given that Ronan is avoiding eye contact with me.
“I don’t care. Give me anything you know,” I insist and take another step closer, invading his personal space.
Ronan glances at me, his shoulders slump and he whispers something so quietly, I don’t catch a single word.
Frustrated, I grab his throat and press his back against the wall. I’m not hurting him, just restraining him and showing how serious about my questions I am.
His eyes widen twice the size as he blurts out, “Michael is from the Deadfang pack, a very respected member in fact. He’s a high profile doctor, used to be a professor at Ravencrest.

And… he’s a close friend with Deadfang’s Alpha too.” Ronan adds the last statement in a whisper.
Now, it makes more sense why Ronan didn’t want to come clean with the details. He knows the relationship between my pack and Deadfang isn’t quite a friendly one.
The truth is that there’s always been tension, but over the years, it has grown into something more than a simple disagreement – that pack is a direct rival to mine.
If there is any chance that Amelia really went and hid from me there, things are about to get far more complicated than anyone could’ve predicted.
As if on cue, Marcel enters Ronan’s house. As soon as he sees the look on my face, he knows something has gone terribly wrong, so I answer before he gets to ask the question. “Looks like Amelia might have gone to Deadfang.”
“Are you planning to go?” He asks.
Frustrated, I run my hand through my hair and groan. “I don’t know. It’s complicated, you know how the relationship between the packs has been for years.”
Marcel nods, then drops his arms to his sides and steps closer. “Darn it, Logan, I completely forgot to tell you. Deadfang sent an invitation for you about two weeks ago, Alpha Ethan wants to discuss a possibility of a truce with you.
My jaw literally drops. Not because Marcel suddenly hits me with the news of something I should’ve known as soon as the invitation was received, but because extending an olive branch isn’t exactly in Ethan’s nature.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I ask as I move closer to him, trying to hold back the anger.
“Don’t freak out on me,” Marcel says quickly, raises his hands and takes a step back. “I wanted to at first, but the invitation is so out of that packs character that I honestly suspecte pleplay. Seriously, why invite your enemy if not to lure them into a trap? Right? I thoug setset up. And then, things got chaotic so I forgot to report it.”
I stop, lean back my head and close my eyes, taking deep breaths to calm down. I under where Marcel is coming from – Ethan hates me because of his father’s death, which is tie

WWWhile I still struggle to come to terms with the possibility of Ethan truly attempting to
arrange a meeting to deal with the hostility between our packs, I would be a fool if I didn’t Baltake it.
W What easier way for me to check if Amelia is there if not by arriving by false pretence and actacting clueless?
HaHaving made my decision, I turn on my heel and head for the door. As I grab the door handle, RoRonan calls after me, “Alpha, are you really considering visiting Deadfang? Let me make one thithing crystal clear if you’re doing it for Amelia, the risk isn’t worth it!”

I don’t even bother looking back as I growl in response. “Ronan, you seem to have forgotten that I am the Alpha of this pack and I’m the one who makes decisions around here. Stay in your lane.”
