You Wed Your Past I Wed My Future novel Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Kiara rushed over to Tyler’s side and clutched his arm as she turned on the waterworks. “Ty! Didn’t you say this project was mine? If I don’t have any achievements to my name, I’ll be so embarrassed when we work with the Fords of Jetterpolis in the future!”

She’d already changed into a new outfit, one from the newly released collection from a luxury brand. The outfit fit her perfectly.

So, Tyler kept Kiara’s clothes in the lounge of his office. Stephanie scoffed inwardly at that.

“Ty?” Kiara looked at Tyler with glistening eyes, but he remained silent, seemingly hesitant.

Just a little while earlier, the client had made his displeasure with Kiara clear. What with the situation with Stephanie…

Tyler knew it would do more harm than good if he insisted on letting Kiara join the project. He’d previously intended to use this project to shine a spotlight on Kiara.

But now that he thought about it, since she already had a close connection with the Fords, it wouldn’t matter if she didn’t have many accomplishments credited to her, right?

“That’s enough, Kiki. Leave us first,” Tyler coaxed her.

Kiara didn’t want to accept this outcome, but she was afraid that if she kicked up too much of a fuss, it would only end up letting Stephanie win. Therefore, she had no choice but to put up with this for now. After glaring resentfully at Stephanie, she walked out of the office.

Tyler turned back to Stephanie with a gentle smile.

“Come, now, Steph. Don’t be mad anymore. I’ll do as you say,” he said, his voice as tender and loving as ever. “You’re my wife. Do you think I’d really go against you?”

Stephanie sneered to herself. How was she his wife when their marriage certificate was a forgery?

In any case, she knew he was just choosing the course of action that was most advantageous to him after weighing the pros and cons.

“If there’s nothing else, I’m going back to my work now,” Stephanie said.

“Don’t be angry anymore, okay, Steph?” Tyler took her hand. “Once things settle down a bit, I’ll take you to Thomburg to see the northern lights. What do you say?”

Thomburg and the northern lights, huh…

That was where they were meant to go on their honeymoon. She’d started anticipating this trip three years ago.

The moment he brought it up, her heart stirred ever so slightly-instinctively. But just as quickly, the ripples faded away. There was nothing left to look forward to. She no longer

wanted to go there.

And the man she’d once dreamed of watching the northern lights with? She didn’t want him either.

Even though she said nothing, Tyler was beaming confidently. He was certain that she’d given in the moment he brought up the trip to see the northern lights. He knew just how much she looked forward to making the trip with him..

He’d been meaning to finally take her there, but there’d been a lot of work at the office lately. That, combined with Kiara’s return to the country, ended up delaying the trip.

Once he brought her to Thomburg later on, no matter how upset she was, all of those feelings would instantly melt away.

Stephanie responded with a half-hearted hum of acknowledgment before turning to leave. However, Tyler didn’t seem to notice her indifference. He even called out to her retreating back, “I’m inviting the client to dinner tonight to smooth things over after the earlier unhappiness. Come with me, Steph.”

That evening, Stephanie and Tyler arrived at the restaurant together.

Just as they stepped out of the car, they happened to bump into their clients, the group representing their partnering company.

The moment they saw Stephanie, the clients broke into broad smiles, their attitudes polite and warm. It was as if the earlier unpleasantness had never happened at all.

“Mr. Hartman,” Tyler greeted the man in the lead.

“You’re much too kind, Mr. Grover,” Gary Hartman replied with a smile. “I didn’t expect you to treat us to dinner.”

“Oh, but I should,” Tyler responded with a chuckle. “I booked us a private room. This way, please, Mr. Hartman.”

“Yes, let’s-Huh? Isn’t that Tom Lowry? Hey, Tom! What are you doing here?” Gary called out to a middle-aged man who’d just exited a car nearby.

Stephanie looked over and happened to notice that the man, Tom Lowry, was opening the back seat of the car and escorting the passenger down.

It was Adrian who stepped out of the car.
