Chapter 15
After getting out of the car, Adrian glanced over indifferently, his gaze sweeping over Stephanie and Tyler.
When his eyes landed on her, he seemed to pause ever so briefly, but his reaction swiftly went back to normal.
“What a coincidence, Gary. Fancy running into you here,” Tom said. After shaking hands with Gary, he explained, “I invited Mr. Hawke to have dinner with me here.”
“Mr. Hawke?” Gary repeated, his eyes lighting up
Even though they weren’t from the same city, everyone was familiar with Adrian.
Gary exchanged a glance with Tyler, and the two reached a silent understanding.
Once he’d greeted Adrian, Gary extended a warm invitation. “We’re having dinner here as well. Why don’t we all eat together? The more, the merrier, right?”
Tom had no objections, of course. He wasn’t going to be discussing anything confidential with Adrian tonight. Besides, these types of dinner gatherings were perfect for paving the way to future business partnerships. For all they knew, a business deal might even be made over drinks.
Turning to Adrian, Tom sought his opinion. “What do you think, Mr. Hawke?”
“As you wish, Mr. Lowry,” Adrian replied casually.
Though he spoke fairly amiably, he gave off a commanding air that was hard for others to ignore. Both Tom and Gary treated him with deference.
Tyler also felt intimidated by Adrian’s presence. There was no doubt that Adrian was the heir to the Hawke family, one of the Four Powerhouses of Jetterpolis.
He glanced toward Stephanie, only to find that she was staring at Adrian as well. His brows furrowed, an unsettling discomfort rising in his chest. He shifted to the side, blocking her line of sight.
Stephanie was speechless. What was up with this lunatic?
She’d merely recalled the incident the other day, when Adrian helped her. However, it seemed like Adrian didn’t intend to acknowledge that he knew her, so she didn’t bring it up either.
The group headed to a private room on the top floor of the restaurant. After a few rounds of drinks, somehow, Stephanie became the subject of conversation.
Gary and the other client representatives praised her to no end. They said she was young and talented, someone who was efficient and thorough when it came to work.
In the face of all the compliments, Stephanie remained composed. She was polite and neither

too humble nor too proud.
Sometimes, she would sense a strong, intense gaze falling on her. Her gut told her it came from Adrian, but whenever she looked at him, he didn’t seem to be looking at her.
Was she just imagining things?
As the conversation went on, the client representatives began talking about Kiara.
Gary had a low tolerance for alcohol. Just a few drinks were enough to leave him rather tipsy.
He patted Tyler on the shoulder and said, “Pardon me for being blunt, Tyler, but it’s best if you don’t let that Ms. Grover from earlier join in on any more business meetings. Is she your sister? I don’t recall hearing about you having one. Could she be your girlfriend?”
Tyler’s expression stiffened. He glanced at Stephanie before swiftly explaining, “She’s not my girlfriend. You’re mistaken, Mr. Hartman.”
Stephanie’s eyes flashed mockingly. Kiara wasn’t his girlfriend, alright. She was his legally married wife.
Gary hiccuped a few times before exclaiming, “She’s not your girlfriend? Then why do you keep favoring her? Why did you let her take over the project just like that, after all the hard work and effort Ms. Ford has put into it?”
“I think you’ve had a bit too much to drink,” Tyler said with a smile, but the icy look in his eyes made Gary sober up a little.
“You’re right. I did overdo it a little. I was just joking with you, Mr. Grover. I hope you don’t mind.”
And so, the subject was dropped. However, at that very moment, a bottle of red wine appeared in front of Tyler.
Frowning, he looked up and found himself meeting Adrian’s gaze.
