Chapter 17

Stephanie stood at the sink and calmly washed her hands. She didn’t know why Adrian had suddenly decided to force all those drinks down Tyler’s throat, nor did she care to find out.

She’d noticed how often Tyler had looked in her direction, evidently asking for help.

Unfortunately for him, the Stephanie who loved him with her whole heart and willingly sacrificed everything for him had long since vanished for good.

After turning off the faucet, she dried her hands on a paper towel.

However, the moment she stepped out of the restroom, she saw a shadow looming over her. Frowning, she was just about to look up and see who it was when she was forcibly yanked into an empty room nearby.

The door slammed shut, and she was pressed against the wall.

Stephanie’s heart leapt into her throat. Just as she was about to scream for help, a hand clamped over her mouth.

“Don’t scream. It’s me.”

That was… Adrian’s voice.

Stephanie’s heart slowly settled back in place. Even though it was rather strange, she somehow believed that Adrian wouldn’t harm her.

She looked up, and true enough, the man standing in front of her was Adrian. However, his eyes were unusually red, and through the haziness in his gaze, she noticed that he seemed to be restraining himself.

Something was wrong with him.

Stephanie let out a few muffled sounds as she tried to break free of his grip.

At last, Adrian released her and staggered backward before slumping onto the chair behind him.

“Are you alright, Mr. Hawke?” Stephanie asked as she took two steps toward him.

“Don’t come over!” Adrian warned, his eyes bloodshot.

His breathing was ragged. He yanked at his collar violently, and two buttons snapped free, clattering to the floor.

“Mr. Hawke, were you…” Stephanie trailed off. She’d just been hit with a sudden realization. “D -Did someone spike something you had tonight?”

From the way Adrian was acting, he’d probably been… drugged with some kind of aphrodisiac.

“Yeah.”

A bead of sweat rolled down from Adrian’s hairline, dripping down in an oddly sensual

manner.

But alas, Stephanie couldn’t appreciate that right now. Alarm bells were ringing in her head.

She trusted Adrian’s character, but when under the influence of such drugs, people often lost control over themselves.

“I’ll get someone to come and help you, Mr. Hawke,” Stephanie said.

She was just about to leave when he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into a burning-hot

embrace.

“Mr. Hawke!” Stephanie exclaimed in alarm. “Let go of me!”

But Adrian held her tightly, refusing to let go.

“Adrian Hawke!” Stephanie cried out, thoroughly panicked now.

She was even considering biting his wrist.

That was when Adrian’s tight voice rang out. “Don’t draw any attention to this. I don’t know who drugged me yet.

Stephanie instantly figured out what he meant. They didn’t know who had drugged him and what the culprit’s intentions were, so they couldn’t let anyone find out where he was.

It seemed like he still had some measure of reason left.

“Then, what now…”

Adrian’s scorching breath brushed against Stephanie’s neck, making her shiver uncontrollably. He had quite a bit of alcohol earlier, so he smelled faintly of booze right now. It wasn’t a bad smell. In fact, it seemed to add a kind of intoxicating allure to him.

Stephanie carefully lifted her eyes to look at him, but the moment she met his gaze, she saw the hunger burning in his eyes.

His trembling fingers brushed over the corners of her eyes, and he gulped to hold back the desire within him that he could barely control.

“I need you… to help me…”
