Once Tyler was done speaking, he dipped his lead in an attempt to kiss Stephanie.

Disgust roiled in her stomach instantly. Every cell in Stephanie’s body screamed at her to resist Tyler at all costs. She suppressed her urge to slap him as she tilted her head to avoid the kiss.

But Tyler gripped her chin before twisting her head forcefully to face him.

“Stop messing around, Steph… I want you…”

“I’m sick right now!” Stephanie stated firmly.

She was a gorgeous woman, to begin with. Her rage somehow added a different flavor to her beauty, making Tyler yearn for her even more.

He chuckled hoarsely in return. “Oh, you’re such a liar. You just took your medication. How are you still sick at this time?”

His arms were wrapped tightly around Stephanie’s frame, his face buried into the crook of her neck as he inhaled her scent greedily.

Stephanie’s mind buzzed loudly. She felt like she could.hear the loud suggestive sounds of Tyler and Kiara’s coupling from the night before.

How disgusting…

She would never let Tyler touch her ever again!

“Tyler Grover!” Stephanie shrieked all of a sudden. “My leg hurts a lot! Let go of me!”

It was then that thunder clapped loudly outside the window.

Tyler froze in his actions. His body tensed up as well. The atmosphere between him and Stephanie grew weirder with every second.

A while later, he finally released her. By then, his expression had gone back to normal. It seemed that he had sobered up a lot.

“I’m sorry, Steph… I forgot that it’s about to rain. Your leg will ache whenever the weather becomes stormy.”

Stephanie’s right leg was crippled because of the car accident. She had put her blood, sweat, and tears into undergoing physiotherapy while enduring the pain with gritted teeth. Thanks to her efforts, she was able to walk normally. At the same time, she was the only one who knew how much pain and agony she had gone through just to achieve this feat.

Although Stephanie could walk, it was impossible for her to dance. Furthermore, her right leg would start hurting a lot whenever it was about to rain.

It was true that she wanted to get rid of Tyler, but she wasn’t entirely lying. Her leg was starting to hurt, after all.

“You should sit down first.”

Tyler sat Stephanie down on the bed. Then, he dragged a chair over to her so that he could sit across from her. He then gazed into her eyes tenderly.

“Why don’t I massage your leg for you?”

“No need for that,” Stephanie replied tersely. “Just leave my room. I want to rest.”

“Steph…” Tyler sighed helplessly. “I know you’re still mad about tonight, but Kiki is our younger sister. Be more sensible and let her have her way, okay?”

Stephanie didn’t respond to him, which he didn’t seem to mind at all. He just continued, “Rest well tonight, Steph. Still, we’re already married there’s no reason why we should sleep in separate rooms as husband and wife. Mom called me earlier today and asked when we’re going to have a child of our own.”

When that topic was brought up, Stephanie instantly remembered the things Tyler had said to Kiara over the phone that night.

“Once Steph gives birth to my baby, I’ll find a way to register you and me as the baby’s birth parents.”

Those shameless bastards sure were delusional enough to make Stephanie give birth to their baby.

As if she would ever do that.

“I don’t want a baby for the time being,” she said coldly.

Tyler frowned at her words. He was about to say something when she cut him off, “I’ve been. taking a lot of meds lately in order to become healthier. The doctor said I mustn’t get pregnant for a few months after taking my meds. Otherwise, the baby might suffer from health issues once born.”

Stephanie knew that Tyler wouldn’t respect her opinion. That was why she decided to come up with a lie to prevent him from badgering her regarding this matter.

“Uh…” Tyler hesitated for a moment. In the end, he just sighed in exasperation.

“You should focus on becoming healthier, then. Stop taking your meds for the time being. Let’s try for a baby in half a year, okay?”

To think that Tyler refused to let Stephanie take her medication that could improve her health just because he wanted her to give birth to their baby as soon as possible!

It seemed that love had blinded her terribly in the past.

But it was fine now. She no longer held out any hope for Tyler anyway. Besides, it’d be insanely difficult for him to see her in person after half a year.

The downpour became heavier. Raindrops kept pitter-pattering on the glass pane of the

Annoyed by Tyler’s presence, Stephanie decided to change the topic. “It was raining heavily on the day I got into the car accident two years ago.”

Tyler froze up once again. As expected, he’d feel guilty whenever the car accident was brought

Stephanie smiled faintly. “Getting hit by a truck really hurt a lot… Tyler, do you know what it feels like to lose a leg?”

“W-Why did you bring this up all of a sudden, Steph?” Tyler’s expression was very awkward at the moment.

“Nothing. I just remembered the accident when I heard the rain.”

Stephanie retained her composure, as though she was just chatting casually with Tyler.

Stephanie kept staring at Tyler’s receding silhouette. It wasn’t until the door slammed shut in her face that she finally let out a deep breath.

That was when her phone chimed a few times.

Stephanie picked up her phone, only to see the messages Brenda had sent her.

“Ms. Ford, you left pretty early tonight, so you missed out on an epic show. I’ve secretly recorded the whole thing for you. Hehe!”

After that, Brenda sent her a video.

The video showed the private room where the team dinner had taken place. Tyler and Kiara were sitting awfully close to each other. They looked like a lovey-dovey couple.

The other colleagues must have had too much to drink, for they began cheering on Tyler and Kiara to share a sweet kiss in front of everyone.

Kiara blushed brightly out of embarrassment. She kept telling everyone to stop messing around, yet she began inching toward Tyler with her lips all puckered up.

The cat-calls around the couple grew even louder Tyler kept staring at Kiara in his arms
