Nestor relaxed a little when he saw how serious Lawrence looked. He quickly straightened his tie, checked his reflection in the window, and called out to the secretary, “Get some tea ready. We have important guests coming soon.”
As they walked into the office, Nestor remembered that Lawrence had barely experienced this kind of formal meeting, so he couldn’t help but give a reminder. “Just go with the flow and watch my cues, alright?”
Lawrence nodded, calm and collected. “I got it.”
Fifteen minutes later, the receptionist led a group up to the office. At the front was Malvin, the business director from Nexus Dynamics.
Malvin looked to be in his early forties, dressed in a sharp dark suit and clearly every bit the consummate professional. Three of his top team members followed close behind.
Nestor went out to greet them with a big smile. “Malvin, welcome. It’s an honor to have you here. Sorry I didn’t come down to meet you.”
Malvin shook his hand politely, but his eyes quickly moved past Nestor and landed on Lawrence. For half a second, he and Lawrence exchanged a subtle nod, barely noticeable.
“Nestor, you’re too kind. We’re the ones dropping by unannounced,” Malvin said, then glanced at Lawrence. “And this is...?”
Nestor stepped aside, rushing through the introduction. “Oh, this is Lawrence.” He didn’t bother explaining further and immediately gestured for Malvin to come inside.
Lawrence followed quietly. The secretary brought in the tea, but Nestor waved her out right away.
Malvin didn’t sit down, since Lawrence was still standing by the side.
“Malvin, please, have a seat,” Nestor said, sounding extra hospitable.
Malvin’s eyes lingered on Lawrence for a moment, and there was a flash of respect in his expression.
“Malvin, thank you for trusting us and being so upfront. We can definitely handle this, and we’ll make sure everything is done to the highest standard,” Nestor said, barely able to hide his excitement.
Malvin glanced at Lawrence again, his tone light. “We’re confident in your abilities, Nestor. Here’s to a successful partnership.”
“To a successful partnership,” Nestor replied, shaking Malvin’s hand. They went on to discuss production and delivery details for hours, finally wrapping up around six thirty.
After seeing Malvin and his team out, Nestor felt like he was walking on air. Nexus Dynamics had just solved his company’s entire order problem, which meant he could finally break free from The James Group.
He looked over at Lawrence, who was sitting on the sofa reading through a file. For the first time, he didn’t feel like chasing Lawrence away. He actually wanted to keep him around.
“Lawrence, have you met Malvin before?” Nestor asked, hoping to get a read on what kind of person Malvin really was.

They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
