Lawrence shook his head. “We’ve met a few times at work, but we’re not close.”
Nestor instantly felt a sting of disappointment. Of course. Lawrence was just another engineer. Someone like Malvin, with his status, would never really cross paths with Lawrence, not in any meaningful way.
“Lawrence, now that we’ve landed the Nexus Dynamics contract, I want you to give it your all. I promise, I’ll make sure your efforts are rewarded,” Nestor said, trying to sound encouraging.
“I will, Dad.” Lawrence’s eyes were clear and steady.
Before this, Nestor had barely paid attention to Lawrence. Now, for the first time, he really looked at him. With his military background, Lawrence stood tall and straight. He was fit, broad-shouldered, and carried himself with confidence. Whatever else people might say, no one could fault his looks.
But as for his abilities, that was still a question mark.
Nestor decided to put him to the test. He’d given Lawrence three years’ worth of company financial reports. Now he wanted to hear what Lawrence thought about the future.
“Lawrence, you’ve gone over our financials and main business projects. Tell me your thoughts. If it were up to you, what would be your plan for the company in the next three years?”
Nestor pulled out his chair and sat down, fixing his gaze on Lawrence.
Lawrence closed the folder in his hands and stepped forward, staying on his feet. His voice was calm and sure. “Looking at the reports, I see the biggest weakness is that we rely too much on a single client. That leaves us with very little bargaining power and makes us vulnerable. In the next three years, we need to bring in at least four more major clients.”
Nestor’s eyes widened in surprise. Lawrence had nailed the company’s biggest flaw, just like that. He cleared his throat. “And?”
“Dad, Nexus Dynamics came to us for a reason. If we don’t upgrade our equipment, we’ll fall behind and lose their business. I suggest we put together a special team to negotiate with Nexus Dynamics about leasing some of their equipment.”
Nestor almost laughed in disbelief. “Lease their equipment? Do you know how expensive a high-end automated production line is? Nexus Dynamics is our biggest client. Why would they ever lease their machinery to us?”
Lawrence didn’t flinch or look the slightest bit embarrassed. His voice stayed steady. “From what I know, Nexus Dynamics spends a lot every year on depreciation and idle assets. They upgrade their technology all the time, which means they always have equipment they’re not using. If we negotiate the right way, offer a win-win partnership, and guarantee production, I think leasing or even buying their equipment at a lower price isn’t out of the question.”
Nestor just stared at him, stunned into silence. He’d never thought about business from that angle before.
Was this really Lawrence’s idea?

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
