After the Fall A Leap into a Stranger's Arms novel Chapter 229

Bonnie pressed her burning cheek, frozen in shock.

Wait, what?

The woman standing in front of her was Lawrence's wife? The Blair Group’s heiress?

Her legs nearly gave out beneath her, and all the bravado drained from her face. She stammered, her cheeks blazing, “I’m so sorry, Catherine. I was just talking nonsense. I didn’t mean any of it.”

Catherine hadn’t expected to find a woman like this hanging around Lawrence, trying to use her assistant title to get close to him. Even if Lawrence didn’t give her any attention, Catherine’s anger was impossible to hide.

Who did this woman think she was, making moves on her husband?

Catherine grabbed Bonnie’s coffee and tossed it straight into the trash. She slapped her hand on the table, voice sharp and clear. “Pack your things and get out of The Blair Group. Leave. Right now.”

Bonnie’s face turned pale and blotchy. She realized she’d messed with the wrong person.

She shuffled out of the office, her embarrassment growing, only to spot Lawrence heading their way. Resentment bubbled up inside her. If she was going to be fired, she at least wanted to get something out of it. She bit her lip, walked up to him, and said, “Lawrence, someone slapped me.”

“Who did it?” Lawrence asked, his voice calm and uninterested, like he thought it was just some office drama.

Right then, Catherine pushed open the office door and stepped out. Her expression was cool as she answered, “I did.”

Lawrence’s eyes lit up when he saw her. He walked straight over. “What are you doing here?”

Catherine slipped her arms around his waist and looked up at him. “I wanted to surprise you.” Then she glanced at Bonnie. “But I ran into a shameless little pest, so I took care of her first.”

Bonnie gasped, completely furious. How could Catherine sound so justified after hitting her?
