"Rebecca, you’re honestly like a genius to me. I just hope that when I graduate, I can be even half as amazing as you."
The more time Judy spent with Rebecca, the more she admired her. Rebecca was smart, kind, and always so genuine with people. Honestly, none of the other girls around her even came close.
Rebecca just smiled, brushing off the compliment. "Alright, I won’t let it go to my head. So what’s up? If you have something to say, just say it. I’m not a fan of beating around the bush."
"Okay, so… exams are next month, and then it’s Christmas. I got lucky and scored tickets to Drake’s concert. I wanted to go with Caleb, but he said he already made plans with you for Christmas. So, he can’t come."
Rebecca blinked. Wait, what? Caleb made Christmas plans with her? This was news to her. It only took her a second to figure out what was going on. Caleb must have used her as an excuse. Anyone could see Judy had a thing for him, and it was just as obvious Caleb didn’t feel the same way.
Rebecca bit her lip, cursing Caleb in her head. Why did he drag her into this mess? Couldn’t he just say he was working on his thesis or something? Still, no matter how annoyed she felt, she had to play along. After all, Caleb had helped her with tutoring for months.
After thinking for a moment, Rebecca said, "I’m good with whatever, but it’s really up to Caleb. You should just ask him directly."
Judy had grown up with money and learned to read people early on. She could tell right away from Rebecca’s face that the whole Christmas thing was made up.
"Alright, Rebecca." Judy looped her arm through Rebecca’s, grinning. "Let’s grab lunch together later, okay?"
Rebecca could never resist when Judy acted cute like that. She let out a helpless sigh and rubbed her forehead. "Sure."
When lunchtime rolled around, the two of them headed straight for the dining hall. Judy wanted steak, so they went up to the restaurant on the top floor. The place had a great vibe, almost like a fancy downtown bistro.
They picked out their food, and just as they settled in, Judy’s phone buzzed on the table.
"Hello? Hey, Paul?"
Rebecca paused. Paul was here already? That was fast.
Judy leaned toward Rebecca, lowering her voice. "Paul’s here, and he hasn’t had lunch yet. Is it cool if he joins us?"
