Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 161

“You want me to talk Caleb out of seeing Judy?” Rebecca asked.

Paul hesitated, then let out a dry laugh.

He met her gaze, looking completely serious. “Is that really what you think of me?”

Rebecca turned her face away.

Paul sighed. “I’m not like them.”

Rebecca frowned.

Them? Did he mean Morris and Bruce?

It didn’t matter to her either way. Whether he was different or not, she couldn’t care less.

Still, from his tone, it sounded like he wasn’t against the idea of Judy being with Caleb.

That was a relief. At least there wouldn’t be some ridiculous drama, like the rich brother throwing money at the poor guy to make him stay away from his sister.

Rebecca thought for a moment, then said, “Caleb probably just sees Judy as a friend. Like, nothing more than classmates.”

Paul nodded. “Yeah, I know.” In his mind, he added, Caleb’s got his eye on you.

Of course, he kept that part to himself.

It was getting late, and Rebecca needed to go.

Out of nowhere, Paul asked, “Can I ask you for a favor?”

“What is it?”

“Dr. Palmer has a patent, the ‘Automatic Interest Rate Curve Model.’ We’ve been trying to buy it, but no matter who we send, Dr. Palmer just isn’t interested in selling.”

Rebecca froze. Her heart skipped. So Paul was the one who’d been trying to buy her patent.

Paul went on, “Judy told me you’re close with Dr. Palmer. Could you maybe talk to him for us? We’d love another chance to discuss it.”

Rebecca frowned. “Why not ask Caleb?”

Judy glanced shyly at Caleb. “Caleb, would you dance with me for the first song?”

Caleb instantly started sweating. The room felt like a sauna.

His face turned bright red. He hadn’t even been this nervous presenting to a room full of professors.

“I… I don’t know how to dance,” he stammered.

Judy smiled, sweet and encouraging. “That’s okay. I don’t either. Just put your hand on my waist and move your feet. That’s all you have to do.”

Before he could protest, Judy boldly took his hand and placed it on her waist, then settled her own arm across his shoulder.

The guests all stared.

The Larson family elders shot each other looks of shock and disapproval.

How could a young lady be this forward? They could hardly believe their eyes.

Across the room, Paul bowed politely. “Ms. Harper, may I have this dance?”
