Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 216

“Since it’s all in the past, there’s nothing left to worry about, is there?”

The words hit Rebecca like a jolt.

She cut him off right away. “Sorry, something’s come up at home. I have to get back.”

She didn’t wait for a reply. Practically running, she pulled open the car door, slid into the driver’s seat, started the car, and took off in a hurry.

Rebecca only let out a deep breath when Paul’s figure shrank to a tiny dot in her rearview mirror.

For a moment, she’d been terrified he might bring up something she really didn’t want to hear.

If it were just Bruce standing between her and Paul, she could have easily cut ties and moved on. But Judy complicated everything.

That made things messy in a way she didn’t have the energy for.

Sitting at a red light, Rebecca lightly tapped her forehead, willing herself to snap out of it.

Matters of the heart didn’t matter right now. There were only two things that deserved her attention at the moment.

First, her company’s new product launch. Second, getting ready for the grad school interview.

Everything else was just smoke and mirrors. Nothing important. Not worth her time.

When Rebecca got home, she dove straight into her studying. Whenever she hit a wall, she’d message Caleb for help.

Tonight, Caleb had his own questions for her.

“I forgot to ask you back at the office. Do you have some kind of history with Sonja and Mr. Lamont from NovaStack Cloud? I kept feeling like they had it out for you during the meeting.”

Rebecca paused, thinking it over. After a moment, she just laid it all out.

“Actually, I never told you or Dr. Palmer, but Bruce is my ex. Sonja is his current girlfriend.”

“What?” Caleb stared at her, stunned. After a second, his fists balled up. “So he’s the one who cheated on you and dumped you for someone else?”

“It’s over and done with.”
